Anjappar and Aachi aapakadai are two of the well known south Indian non-vegetarian restaurants in bay area and honestly speaking I was getting tired of them. They were overpriced and the food was just ordinary ( especially aapakadai ). Chennai kings comes as a welcome change, similar type of food but the food was not over greasy or oily and the prices were nominal. I had the chicken kothuparotta and Gobi Manchurian and both were pretty good. Hopefully it stays the same unlike other Indian restaurants which seems to degrade over time. Updated: Went again a month later and found lousy service, greasy food and overall ok experience.

Spicy but delicious gobi manchurian. The only drawback is there are way too many onions and peppers and not enough cauliflower. The chili Baby corn was basically the same as the gobi, but there was definitely more baby corn. The paruppu urundai lentil balls were too spicy for me - Ill have to get mild next time. I really didnt like the chicken shahi kurma - I thought itd be more of a cream sauce, but it was just a regular curry dish. It also had dark meat chicken, which I dont like at all. The curry it was in was really flavorful though.

Marina beach molaga bajji, Adyar beach meen varuval, Buhari chicken 65, Toothukudi parotta - Thus goes the Menu. If reading these did not put a wide grin on your face, eating them would definitely will! :-) End it all with an authentic dabara coffee, and its like you are back in Chennai, cheering for the Super kings!! I refrain from giving full 5 stars as the chutneys werent as spicy as they should be. Otherwise, the food was very nice and i would definitely go back again and again.

I am vegetarian and feel like there are many great options at this place although it is one of the few south Indian place that also caters to non vegetarians also. The lotus root curry is my favorite and everyone also likes the egg biryani. The paneer pakoras are really good - just like India but way more expensive (well... unless you consider the cost of flying there). Idly sambar is also good.

Quality food and nice restroom. Unlike other Indian restaurant, they really pay attention to their customers...I would love to go it again...In specific, i tasted Fish item, which is most of the time is not upto the mark in South Indian resturants for people from Eastern part of India...And to my surprise, it was having an awesome taste..

Excellent Indian food place! Not only was the quality of food on point, but it was very well priced. I had the Parottas with Vegetable Kurma, and I would definitely recommend the dish. Such great flavor. My only regret is that I didnt try the falooda. After looking at the pictures, it looks amazing. Will definitely return again, though!

I have given them three strikes and they failed to meet my expectations all the time. But I might end up going there again and again since I am a proud chennai born and love to sample for marina beach bajji and fish fry. But I would compare this to a place like aachi aapakadai.. I wish they could hire some great cooks in the future.

Food is not expensive and although some entrees are not abundant, quality is close to perfect 10. The menu has countless options and all of the entrees I have had more than once are spot on the same, time and again. Dosas are one of my favorites and come nicely plated.

Great food, amazing service, very polite and friendly staff. Love the Meen Varuval! Also found Assorted pakodas, Kadai Chicken and Gulab Jamun to be tasty. The Chicken Biryani was alright but I would prefer Hyderabadi Dum Biryani elsewhere instead.

Oily, greecy, super junk food items. Its not real Indian in taste. Our dinning experience was also not good. You can see images how oily food are. Dont order Pakoda or Gobi Manchurian. Porota is super greecy and no taste at all.

Fantastic place, in a small strip mall. Rivals the food in chennai. Apart from the usual idlis and dosas that are authentic, try the fish curry. Really spicy, but delicious. Finish off with a filter coffee and payasam.

The best aspect I like about this restaurant is they welcome you with a BIG BIG smile. For some reason I find this very welcoming feature. Their food is good. I usually do take away and they have never let me down.

I had the "butter chicken masala" with "parotta". The bread was awesome and the butter chicken was super tender and quite spicy. The staff is friendly and the prices are fair. Can only recommend the place.

Masala dosa was not crispy in spite of me requesting for a crispy dosa. There was not salt in the food. The mini idlis and the coconut chutney was good.

Good Southern Indian food options available here. One of the good options to have Indian food in Mountain View close to Palo Alto on West El Camino Road
