This is my first review ever, Im glad its for El Jardin. My family has been going here since they opened, we used to walk by during construction about 18 years ago. The greats dishes are many, my 5⭐️favorites are: Chicken Mole. Its divine! (No bones) like many authentic restaurants. Any of the Elimonado ( Lime infused red chile sauce ) seafood enchiladas which come in shrimp, crab and lobster as well. The crab enchiladas in the garlic butter sauce tastes great, reminds me of a good crab cake. Pollo con Queso, The mushrooms and onion and cheese balance each other out beautifully, with hints of a good stroganoff. Tres favoritos, Carne Asada with grilled Chicken and shrimp Salvajes is a fantastic combo plate. The Green cheese enchiladas, Fajitas, reyennos & burritos are killer. Im Hispanic and a foodie, Ive been eating Mexican food since I was born. Growing up in the Bay Area, spoiled by good restaurants all my life. Im occasionally ( more often) disappointed by the average fare available in the Valley. El Jardin is the best of the chain ( they are family owned and have 10?) and is arguably the best in Manteca and beyond. Long... 2nd place goes to Taquerilla Yvett ( modest older dining room, good authentic cook) and Las Casuellas ( Nicer dining room, decent food) El Jardin hosts all of our anniversarys, birthdays and we love them. The veteran staff are excellent, and the cooking bench runs deep. When theyve switched cooks, it didnt take long to get the new one making the dishes exactly the way they were a decade ago. Quality control is a 10! The Owner is the opposite of what Steven Hegg experienced. Usually youll find Chris on the floor making drinks and doing what he loves( and offering tequila samples) and keeping this well oiled Machine running smoothly. The Beans are delicious, rice is good too! The menu is large and varied, theres something for everyone here, even Anthony Bordain would find something hed enjoy! Lol

I use to go to the El Jardin in Oakdale, Ca. so was SO PLEASED to see that there is one in Manteca too. They have THE BEST Chicken tortilla soup around! The food is great! But Ive one complaint about this establishment. I usually order "TO GO" during the week. I call them on my way home from work, which is in Modesto, and they USUALLY have it ready by the time I get to their restaurant in Manteca. However, the last two times, Ive ordered Flower chips with my meal, and they give me corn chips. Last time, I had to drive back to get them, this time, tonight, Im not bothering to do so. Last thing I want to do after working all day is drive back and fourth to get my order correct. The second complaint I have is I was told when I called, that it would be 25 minutes. So, by the time I arrived, it had been 30 minutes. Meal still wasnt ready and I waited another 20 minutes for them to bring it out. So, for the two mistakes theyve made the past two times I have been there, including tonight,Only giving a 3 star rating. Get your service together and I will gladly change my rating as the food is very good, but the consistent inconvenience is annoying.

This place was a pleasant surprise, one of which i just checked out on the Whim. The ambience is nice, good lighting and even some intriguing framed art. Staff was friendly and attentive, though i thought they were maybe a bit slow. What really got me about this place was the food... The chips with their special salsa, accompanied by a spicy pickled cabbage of sorts (intriguing! Delicious! I ordered a second serving)- oh and the food is very good- i ordered chicken tacos, and was surprised how delicious it was and even more so..how it was presented. The proportions are Huge... And i mean HUGE. If you order an entree, youll have more then enough for two people, even with large appetites. I only docked a star off from this review because i first asked for the Tacos as Al Pastor, and they didnt have that available, which really disappointed me (this is my personal request and first taste for mexican restaurants that i always ask for and usually use a barometer for me when i request such). That aside, this place is perfect, with good food, great ambience and good staff. Oh, and they have a bar, too.

I was visiting family this past weekend in Manteca and came here to have lunch with my fiancé and his grandparents who I was meeting for the first time. There was glass in my chicken taco. About two bites in I came across something crunchy to the point that I was completely startled and pulled at least one shard of glass out of my mouth. I spit the rest into a napkin and did not go through it to see how much there was. This was around 2pm Sunday afternoon. I was so freaked out by the incident (and really anxious already meeting family for the first time) that I certainly did not handle the situation as I should of. I plan on contacting the manager to at least advise that they fire whoever was handling food at that time on Sunday.

Got my order wrong then acted like I was trying to get something for free. Just wanted what I ordered. Waitress was not very friendly. I had to get up and find her about my order. Dropped the check off and didnt see her after that. Finally got up and paid on our way out. The only reason I tipped as well as I did was the guy who got our drinks. He was friendly and on it. I hope she had to share the tip with him.

The only downside was we went on a holiday weekend so we had to wait a little bit. They have a lunch special if you get there before 3 oclock which is great. Theyre Bloody Marys were great. delicious. I had crispy tacos they were served with beans and rice. it was a big portion. My boyfriend has the chile verde and it was outstanding. We will definitely be visiting this place again when were in town.

Ive been to the El Jardin in Twain Harte and always had a pleasant experience there, but the the service was terrible at the Manteca branch. It took an hour between getting our drinks and getting our food, and it was next to impossible to get anyones attention. My mole enchiladas were decent, but my mothers tortilla soup was pretty awful. Will neither go there again nor recommend it to anyone.

I was there on my way to Yosemite and the restaurant fit the purpose of getting a bite before the long drive. Portions are huge but quantity is never a substitution for quality especially if you know real Mexican food. I had enchiladas which were fine but the sides of beans/rice/salad were not that great. There arent a lot of choices of restaurants in the area outside the fast food chains...

The carnitas is seasoned just right.... Heaven on earth. The margaritas are the best I have ever had. The tequila selection and knowledge is surprisingly broad and deep for such a small cozy place. But best of all, the staff are amazing. Your pleasure is their command. And the staff culture is a family. A great place whether for a snack, a sip or a shot!

Some of the best mexican food I have found in the Manteca/Stockton area. As mentioned the cabbage dip and red chile salsa are fantastic. Beans and rice are both good. Fresh guacamole and fantastic aunthentic taste to all the food! Service was great, all servers pithced in at all the tables so you were never looking for anyone. Two thumbs up and an A++!!
