Ill post the email I just sent to the address on El Forasteros site and let it speak for itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Im writing to complain about the service at your location on Folsom Blvd. I walk in. Theres a sign telling me the specials for each day of the week, all at a lower price than their standard pricing, hence why they are specials of the day. I order the special for the day today. Im charged the regular price, which is roughly a $3 overcharge. The cashier doesnt give me the drink that goes with it. I ask for the drink and get it. I go to the soda machine, no ice. I go to the salsa bar. No salsa. I wait for my food and instead of calling them out by a number on the receipt they are calling the orders out by one, not all, but one of the items within each meal, so theres constant confusion at the front counter as to whose meal is whose. The worker ends up calling out an order and making direct eye contact with me, so I go up and grab it...not my meal. Im already out the door so I dont bother going back in. Its Mexican food, its hard to screw up Mexican food...or so I thought. I ended up with a carne asada meal. But instead of the tacos being pre-made there is just a slab of what looks like carne asada that must have been sitting out and drying in the sun for 12 hours and the flour tortillas are separate. Whatever, the tacos arent pre-made, I can make them back at the office while Im trying to do my job. I can deal with that. However, the meal should have also come with rice and beans. Those were there...kind of. There was about 2 tablespoons of rice and 3 tablespoons of beans. The meal actually looked comical inside the to-go box. By comical I mean it looked tiny and disgusting. So not only did I not get what I ordered and was overcharged for what I ordered, but I didnt even get a moderate serving of any part of the meal. And even something as simple as a salsa bar wasnt being handled by the staff. The total was $11.50. For that much (not including tip) I can go to a sit down restaurant and get higher quality food in larger quantities. Basically, if I try to order anything more complex than a simple taco Im in for a shitstorm. This isnt the first time Ive been overcharged for a special of the day, but typically I at least get what I ordered and in larger quantities. Id attach a picture of the food as I got it so you can see what Im talking about, but I dont feel the need to waste any more time on this. I know where I am. Im in a Mexican food join on Folsom Blvd. Im not expecting a 5 star meal. But this isnt even worthy of 1 star, which will be reflected when I post my review of the establishment online. I work right down the street and Ill also be letting my co-workers know to avoid the restaurant. Get your staffs act together. Maybe pay them more so they care more? I dont know. Thats your problem, not mine.

I love El Forastero because its open 24/7. Straight up, its the best place to go after a night out or when Im in desperate need of food after a day spent at Sac State. I almost always get their Carne Asada Fries! Oh my! So much foodddd!!!! Im always a happy camper, the only time Im not is when there is a ridiculous amount of onion. Blehhh. Otherwise, its not amazing Mexican food, but when youre like me, dont care, and just seriously want some grub on the go, Id definitely recommend this place.

location was close to conference I attended...chose restaurants because of # of reviews on Yelp. Probably a restaurant more popular with the locals. Food, Service & Cleanliness was adequate. Ate inside and a fly ruined my experience by wanting to eat my food more than me. Note to management, may want to consider covering the chips & salsa area...

Fast and fresh. The carne asada burrito was fair, flavor was a bit bland and meat was diced small and scarce. My friend ordered the shrimp burrito. He said he felt like he was "fishing" to find shrimp. There were 3 in there. Free chips with a $2.50 or greater purchase. Salsa was fresh but not very spicy.

Paid almost $9.00 for a super burrito and received the burrito with 90% rice and 10% asada. To make matters worse, I got charged $22 for 2 burritos instead of one but they quickly fixed that. Overcharging once can happen but quality over quantity is what keeps customers returning. I wont be back.

This is the last place to go if you are hungry and in a hurry. They have a drive thru system that needs some TLC. You can hear half of what is said to you. I really like the shrimp burrito but would much rather stop by a place that does not take up half of my lunch hour.

the orders wasnt right and these people charged me over price. The cashier saw me and as soon as i took my money out of my wallet she said 10.00 for the food but when she saw my wallet she quickly changed the amount as 120.00 WTH what a SCAM, never eat here again!!!!

I love this place!! Afternoon, night, late night always great. I love their Carnitas burrito, Horchata and Churro. They offer free grilled onions and chips. The women at the Folsom Blvd front counter are fantastic. Thanks and keep up the great work!!

This place has down their portion size and is 24 hours a day when you need that giant set of Nachos in the middle of the night. Too bad their quality isnt there. I would go here if Im desperate but Ill save my appetite for better Mexican.

Whatever has happened in the past 2 months needs to stop. Customer service is TERRIBLE. The girls that work there have way too much attitude. Im willing to go out of my and give the better business bureau a call.

The super nachos are the best Ive had in a long time. And, they make fresh juice to order. I saw the owner chopping carrots with his cowboy hat and boots on in the back. Cant get more authentic than that!

The hours state that the Folsom blvd location is 24 hours but its not! I showed up at 2:24am and it was closed! Super annoying, I wouldnt have driven all the way over here if the time was accurate online.

Faster than many fast food restaurants. Better than most sit down restaurants. Im hooked on their Fish Tacos. A fish taco, Chile reyeno, and a modelo for twelve and change. You cannot beat their prices.
