Coworkers and I used to come here somewhat frequently before it was Urban Ramen. Not fantastic, not bad, but certainly not Urban Ramen. Being a child who had a mother who would return a dish at the slightest thing, I can safely say that Ive never returned anything in my life. Even though I had the desire to do so here, and actually tried to return my dish, I guess I still havent. I ordered the chicken dip ramen - when it came out, I was pretty impressed by the presentation. My eye was immediately drawn to the saffron looking springs on the top. I even said out loud, "Is this saffron?!", took a sprig and put it in my mouth. It was just saffron dyed... something. No flavor. No idea what it was, but it wasnt saffron. The second thing I noticed was the actual broth (since it was a dip it came in a separate bowl with the chicken in it) - it was incredibly thick. Use your imagination and think of incredibly thick in the context of broth, now make it more thick by about 10x that. By the time I actually dipped something in it about 30 seconds after it being sat in front of me, it had already developed a pretty thick skin on the top that had to be broken up. I could only stomach one bite. I tried to lance a couple of pieces of chicken from within the broth, but they were so full of gristle and tendon, plus tasting exactly like that thick broth, I could barely hold it down. When the waiter came to ask us how everything was about 15-20 minutes into our meal, I turned to say, "Hey man, Im not sure if thi.." he had already turned to walk away. I gestured for a bit to bring him back, but he just kinda looked past me. So I just sat there and waited. No water refill, no coming back except when it was time to pay the bill. When he put the bill in front of us, he saw that I hadnt touched my food. I told him that I had been trying to tell him that it was godawful, that Ive never once turned anything away but I didnt feel right paying for this.... sludge. He said, "Oh man.. Oh man.. yeah man.. oh... yeah, sorry, sorry about that. So sorry. So, you want me to just split it down the middle? Sorry." No, you idiot, I dont want you to split it down the middle, but he went ahead and did that anyway. I just sat thinking to myself, "I guess $15 isnt that much to know that I, or anyone I know or work with, for that matter, will never have to sit through such godawful fare for the rest of our lives." Avoid at all costs.

Im not a big Ramen fan. I was very reluctant to eat here, but a friend insisted. Goal was to eat the Poke bowl that I saw on the menu. However, I found myself ordering ramen at ramen restaurant--go figure. Im happy to say that I actually enjoyed my choice. The Ebi Soba was calling my name! The shrimp tempura that came with it did it for me. The broth was absolutely delicious, however, I did have to add some Sriracha in order to get it to my spicy comfort level. I think Im just anti-noodle. I had some of the noodles, and theyre great, but cant eat too much of them. I get full so quickly! I also couldnt leave without trying the Volcano Roll. Another great choice on my part. Loved it, except it did have a little too much crispy rice on the bottom. Perfect level of spice to it! The fried chicken appetizer was good, but dont think I would have it again. If it sounds interesting to you, it is worth at least one try. Get some ponzu sauce on the side for it. The service was friendly. My only complaint is that I like my water to be constantly refilled without asking. There is parking right in front in the little plaza, wasnt busy when I was there around 9pm on a Thursday.

Came here because it was recommended by a couple of friends, but we came out highly disappointed. From the moment we were seated it felt as though we were being rushed, there were only two other tables at the time which had already been served out so there was no rhyme or reason to it. We ordered takoyaki, gyoza, black ramen, and tonkatsu ramen. The dishes were plopped down on the table without explaining what they were; which would normally be fine except that the tonkatsu ramen had a very clear broth. We were not expecting that so we tasted it and it had a very distinct chicken taste we thought it was a mistake. We had to flag down our server since she hadnt come down to see how we were doing and asked her if the order was correct. It in fact was. If you are looking for a true tonkatsu flavor avoid this restaurant. Black ramen was not great. They serve thick slices of chashu, which is a plus, except that the pork was very gamey it made the entire dish unappetizing. I couldnt finish my bowl. Gyoza was nothing to special. Takoyaki was okay. The octopus was tender, but the inside was still quite runny.

Dont let the unusual plastic foliage on the facade fool you! They have great ramen here. My favorite is the miso pork ramen. They play different Miyazaki films on three huge TVs which is an interesting (and very distracting) touch. I wish they had a larger beverage selection and/or fountain soda. The style of service can sometimes feel a bit short, as though theyre eager to churn through customers - which makes sense seeing how busy they can get on weekends. Try coming on a weeknight for faster seating and more attentive service!

Being from NYC I have tried almost every Ramen restaurant in the city. This was the second place I had Ramen in LA and it was absolutely delicious!! Definitely top 3 of all the Best Ramen Ive ever had. The place is fairly small as most Ramen places. Came in on a Tuesday night at around pm and ordered Pork Tonkatsu. Beyond Delicious! Every ingredient on the dish was done perfectly. Will definitely recommend and this will be my spot to go for Ramen in LA.

Happy that my friends were waiting in line or else I would have to join and stand for 45 minutes or so. Parking is tough around here because it is in japan town. Be warned. So I got to try the two main Urban Ramen that I forgot the names but you will see it on the main page. Overall the noodles were good and the broth nice and tasty. However there isnt enough meat in these. Just a wing. Bloop.

I added $3 chicken thigh to my ramen order. They hide it at the bottom so you are not quite sure how big the thigh is. The broth for my hakata ramen and wifes spicy miso was noticeably sweet. Not what we were expecting. How about just not making the soup typically salty like other places? Oh, spicy miso ramen was missing bamboo by default. You need to add it as a topping.

A nice selection of vegetarian ramens, each of which features different broth and vegetables. Everything was fresh, but the broths werent as rich and flavorful as I would like. My favorite was the spicy vegan ramen. The veggie miso ramen and the vegan mushroom ramen were both good, but required a lot of additions. I will come back, but these arent ramens I will dream about.
