An instant favorite. There tends to be a line here for the dinner service but, for good reason. Fish quality is great - if you know sushi you know to go on Tuesday or Friday - this place follows that pattern. All of their MP fish is high quality - Toro, King Crab, Uni, Sweet Shrimp, Black Snapper best of the MP list. Most people like the fish to rice proportion on nigiri here, I think it tends to be a bit fish heavy but, the rice is balled at a pretty perfect temp. For the quality, the price is actually a bit lower than Id price it - good news in the sushi world! Atmosphere is lively and the sushi chefs are clearly enjoying themselves without missing the details. Japanese owned so you know the service is impeccable. Owner is on site 6 days a week (look for a middle aged Asian man in a straw fedora drinking a tall Sapporo - maybe even buy him one!) In my opinion, this is the best quality for the price on the westside - but if you tend to go for heavy loaded cut rolls or if youre ordering 6 orders of salmon sushi for dinner, help us keep the line shorter and go to Hara on Wilshire Thanks **** Quality of fish **** Waiting Staff ** Frequent Line **** Great pricing to quality ratio **** Lively yet comfortable

Harrys retired, Janet and Sam were not there, but Yuju was AMAZING behind the sushi bar.... I took my Best Friend of 49 years for her birthday. Ive been there easily 1000x times over the years, but this was really AMAZING Sushi.. Black Snapper, Red Snapper, with Shisho Leaf, Salt Lemon and Yuzu paste Salmon Belly, ginger and sesame seeds, Albacore with garlic paste & Ponzu Hokaiddo Whole Japanese Scallops with Salt Lemon and Yuzu paste... Over and OVER !!!! I couldnt stop! I was in Nirvana... and cant wait to go back. I dont know why, but we didnt have to wait 45mins for a seat on a Saturday evening! P.S. In MY world, sitting at the Sushi Bar is an entirely different experience than sitting at a table... It seems that way at every sushi place I go to.

Ive been going to Sakura for years with my family and its by far one of the best sushi restaurants around. The pieces of sushi are very generous and the fish is always fresh. A must have is the albacore. Ive had albacore at other restaurants and it is usually really firm. At Sakura, its always soft and buttery. If youre ever in the area I highly recommend eating at Sakura.

Very nice waitstaff. Mizo soup fresh and light. AND one of the few places that serves YOSENABE, the best of Japans exports. They have been here over 40 years and we are finally trying it. You know that its fresh because the temperature slows your eating

Almost always a wait, but always worth it. I lived down the street for 5 years and even after moving away it is still my go to Sushi spot. Thanks Sam for all the good food over the years.

The place was small and VERY busy. Food was okay, but service was slow. The waitress kept forgetting to bring us what we asked for (water, extra sauce). Overall, decent place for sushi.

Generous, high quality portions of sashimi. If youre interested in a buttery, delicious treat, ask for the Ono raw. Second only to their Albacore.
