I am soo suprised this restaurant has 4 stars! What do people see in this place? The food is the same as any other sushi restaurant in Sherman Oaks or Ventura blvd but 3 times the price. I understand the main cheif/ owner is idolized in LA, however you can make sushi better than the others to a certain degree. All the high end places near LA buy their fish from the International Marine in downtown. That doesnt give the owner the right to charge customers 3x the price. Certain rolls such as dragon roll and crunchy crab roll taste worse than those made at mediocre restaurants such as ikyu sushi or shiki. I gave 2 stars because this new location looks much better than the previous one on Saticoy st.

Chiba is a San Fernando Valley Iconic restaurant. It has been serving the North Hollywood neighborhood in which it sits for 40 years. In that time Chiba has established themselves with the fish houses and brokers in both Los Angeles and Japan and the grade and types of sushi they offer is some of the best found anywhere in the world. You add to that the pride and service of The Chiba family and you have one of the finest sushi experiences in LA. You can be sitting at the sushi bar and on one side of you are the guys who just worked on your car and on the other side is a rock star drummer you saw at The Greek the night before all enjoying the amazing food and preparation that is Chiba.

If i were to say what the biggest regret in my life was, it would be not going to this place sooner. The chefs and wait staff are kind and hard working. The food is to die for. Seriously. Id probably attend some druidic ritual and volunteer to be the sacrifice if it meant keeping this place on the map. Good news is that this place is in no danger of disappearing. Cant wait to see there new spot open up. This is a resturant ran by those who love it. Dont pass it up. Try the unagi, youll cry tears of joy. Im getting sentimental just thinking about it.

Best sushi experience in my life. On the recommendation of a friend in Burbank, we thought wed try it out. On a whim we decided to sit at the counter and Im so glad we did. Shig chatted with us, educated us some, and was very gracious. He made recommendations (try the steamed soybeans!) and let me sample urchin (like seafoody peanut butter, very interesting). He treated us like a good friend might, and it was a truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommend.

Chiba is my favorite sushi restaurant. Try the spicy tuna okoge, I have it every time. All fish is always fresh, every time. This place is always crowded, but they have fast and sufficent service anyway. Chig is the owner and a master sushi chef. His knife skills still astonish me, even though I have been going to Chibas for close to 20 years. I have met people at the sushi bar, who have been coming since the early seventies and are still faithful customers.

The wife and I ate here yesterday for lunch after having heard the sushi was excellent. Wed been looking for a place with good rolls in the Burbank area. We both ordered the lunch bento with sashimi and tempura, and we shared two rolls. The bentos were good, but nothing special. The two rolls we had were excellent though. The first roll had crab on top of it, and the second roll was the crunchy shrimp roll. We loved them both. Well definitely be going back.

Good food and sweet server. I havent been to Chiba restaurant for about 20 years. It is much better than I remember. I like this restaurant better than the many Korean owned sushi bars in Burbank. Chiba has much more of a traditional Japanese feel and taste. I found all the fish to be good, but I wouldnt say great. I go to Japan often, so my standards are skewed high. I especially liked the black cod. Really tasty and cooked perfectly. Well be back.

This is my new favorite sushi spot. (And my wifes!) They are usually very busy and there is a very good explanation for that... Because they make great sushi! They dont give you a ton of rice and a small piece of sushi. Most sushi location are cutting costs going that route and losing customers very quickly. Chiba keeps their customers coming back with great food and awesome sushi chefs. If you have not been here and you live locally... Try it ASAP!

I havent been here since the 1970s or 80s. It is still there with a brand new building and is has grown immensely. I went with old friends from high school. We had a wonderful time. We came on a Monday for lunch. Plenty of parking with their new location. Everything was fresh, and delicious! A must stop even 400 hundred miles from my home - lol! I will be back and it wont take me that long again.

Easily my second favorite sushi place in greater Los Angeles. Although I surely have not been to them all I have tried a lot of well regarded places. The owner is a great guy and a master sushi chef. The quality of fish couldnt be much better. The selection is large and the portions are big. This place is close to home to which makes it all the more enjoyable to visit. I highly recommend.

Excellent Sushi in an upscale setting. Chiba has long been one of the best sushi spots in the valley since its days in a little strip mall store front and continues to produce excellent sushi in their new building. The new building was built especially for them and features several sushi bars. They have rolls but tend to lean more towards the traditional nigiri sushi.

This is one of the best Sushi restaurants in LA. The area where it is at detracts from the quality of the experience, but once inside the quality of the fresh fish and the way they prepare and serve it, more than make up for being in this part of NoHo. If you like scallops, ask for the number 10 roll. Try it and you will love it too!

Ive eaten at every single sushi spot in the san fernando valley, and many others out there...there is no comparison to Chibas! If youre not sure what excellent sushi is, this is the place to show you how good the sushi can be! The albacore, yellow tail and TORO will never let you down! You guys ROCK, Chiba! Keep it up! PLEASE!!!!!

Love this sushi restaurant! If I could afford to come here every week, I would do it in a heart beat. The wait can be pretty crazy and the waiting area is terrible, but order a beer while you wait... its worth it. Fish is incredibly fresh. Chefs are super nice. The parking lot is incredibly tiny. Good thing theres free valet at night.

My buddy told me best sushi around! Im a skeptic but gave it a try. Thank God I did, truly AMAZING! Every thing is better than the next. Unique taste and FRESH. The downside is every sushi place falls short of Chiba and now youll be disappointed in your old spots. Try the Rufus roll off the menu but AWESOME!

The atmosphere is dim and loungy (mostly by the bar) but when you go sit, there is more lighting and a bright colored painting that goes with the name of the restaurant. The wooden theme is intriguing and goes very well with the Wood Oven Roasted Pig Face meal. I attached some photos of few of our meals..
