I’ve been here before last year and it was a great meal, however my most recent visit, well… It could have been better… We’d ended up coming to Grand Central Market for dinner, as they’d recently been advertising that they now opened late. What they hadn’t advertised was that while the site remained open, a lot of the individual stores closed and you had limited choices when you got there. Now we weren’t that late, still 3 hours before closing but at least 50% was closed for the day. So we went to Horse Thief, which was still open and lively. Several of their meats had run out and we asked for the brisket and the rib tips. The guy at the counter mentioned that it was ‘chopped brisket’ which we said okay to. In addition to this, we got the mac and cheese, the banana pudding, and an Arnold Palmer. While we waited for the food, we got a couple of beers. In a few minutes our food was called and we got it. Now, nearly everything was good. The ribs were excellent, as was the mac and cheese. However, the chopped brisket… Now we quickly understood it was chopped because it was a bit tough and dry. The chopping helped to break it down a bit but didn’t hide it that much. I wish the guy had been clearer with us… While the flavour was good, it was a bit like chewing jerky… I gotta ding you guys for that one. But lesson learned. Grand Central Market is a place for lunch, not dinner. We know for next time.

My friend and I decided to eat here because it was extremely crowded inside Grand Central Market and the lines were too long at the other places that we wanted to eat at. I ordered brisket w/ baked bbq beans and cornbread with an arnold palmer while my friend ordered pulled pork w/ coleslaw and mac&cheese and a water. The food took around 10 minutes to come out and we got BBQ sauce and BBQ/Spicy Vinegar for the meat. It didnt take us too long to find a seat outside -- however, there were a lot of flies around the picnic tables. The food was just average. I thought the brisket was nice and tender, but it wasnt as juicy as I would have liked it. My sides were just average; I wasnt able to finish the cornbread. The Arnold Palmer was not as sweet as Id like either. As for my friends meal, he said that he enjoyed the coleslaw most. We have both been to Phils BBQ and my friend went to Rollin Smoke Barbeque in Vegas so maybe our experiences there made this place seem sub-par... If I ever eat here again, I will drop a bit more money to get the spar rib and hopefully I will enjoy that more...

I was really excited about coming here. Even waited over 30 mins jus to order because they were "switching registers. This place is disgusting. I went yesterday and ordered the 2 meat plate (Rib Tips and Brisket) with Mac n Cheese n Baked beans on the side. They dont give you bread so I had to buy a slice of cornbread for $2. First the brisket was chopped up and very dry. I thought they served slices. The rib tips were extremely small, overcooked and hard. The mac n cheese was ok but the baked beans were horrible. Too much dark molasses. The cornbread was very hard and didnt have any flavor. I dont know who takes the pictures in the gallery but my food looked nothing like theirs and was really bad. For $24 this was a complete waste of money. What a shame!

Yee-haw cowboys! You can smell the BBQ from a block away. The smell catches you like in the cartoons where the smell hits your nose and you float off your feet in hypnosis as you float towards where the food is coming from. Only thing about this episode is the food ends up being not as worthy as the smell is. Pork Ribs For the Win Save yourself the agony of eating thru one of those 3 meat plates and just go for the pork ribs. Youll just have to trust me that I saved you money and real estate in your stomach. Super juicy, moist and fall off the bone type of meat. Close your eyes children.

If you are by Grand Central Market do yourself a favor and grab some good BBQ from Horse Thief. I bought a half slab of BBQ ribs with cornbread and a beer and it was all delicious. Their BBQ is a little bit spicy and heavy for some, but it was a good recipe for me. The rib meat was soft and tender and ready to fall off the bone. While the cornbread was just ok, I think this is a good BBQ place if you are in the downtown area. It has pretty nice outdoor seating and you can even pick up a beer at the bar while you wait.

Here is what I dont need in a BBQ joint: a huge attitude when I politely send back my sandwich because I asked for no slaw and it came out covered in it. People make mistakes and I dont cause problems when they do. So when Im nice about your mistake, my minimum expectation is that you are nice back and fix the food. If I can hear you complain about me while I wait at the pickup window, Im going to leave a bad review. Never coming back, good riddance.

Cena con amici, posto carino. Menu di carne, presi due mezzi polli e due pork. Con due contorni a scelta. Ottima carne, buoni i contorni. Ci sediamo allaperto su classici tavoli di legno. Abbiamo speso 60dollari.

Came on a Thursday night and there was ample seating. Fast casual dining where you order at the bar and then pick up your food when its done. They have a great beer selection. The guy at the bar was great and gave us very honest food and beer suggestions. Their ribs were soooooooooooooo good- just fell off the bone, was not try and soo tasty. A definite must try. This place is also dog-friendly, which is a huge plus in my books :)

Yum! We came hungry! So we werent picky. Heres the thing....the atmosphere is perfection! Angels flight and the park that Tom sat in in "500 Days of Summer" movie are the view across the street. Trees offering filtered sun. Its a 90 degree winter day and there arent a lot of restaurants open in the area... The bar has great beers and mimosas...perf! If your a non-drinking "foodie", then just keep walking!

Excellent BBQ. Limited menu but thats not necessarily a bad thing. The brisket is definitely the way to go, dont be cheap like me and get the pulled pork though the pulled pork is good in its own right. The brisket is exceptional though. A little expensive all around but really worth the money in the end. I dont know of a better BBQ spot in downtown LA. Sucks that it closes relatively early.

Good BBQ spot within walking distance of my place. Ive only been to Texas twice, so I definitely cant do a legitimate comparison to "the real thing." But... I thought the food here was tasty. The potato salad is made with blue cheese and bacon, and it is delicious! I also like the jicama slaw, even though its not super obvious theres jicama in it. My favorite meat was the pulled pork.
