This review is strictly for KILLER CAFE next door at 4213. I was excited that the place was finally open. 1. Arrived at 1:00 closes at 2:00 2. No one greeted me at the front desk. Three persons standing there talking 3. Sat myself at the breakfast bar that seats approximately 15 people. It was pretty much empty with the exception of 3 people that appeared to be regulars of Kilter Shrimp. 4. 8 mins passed, no menu, no coffee, no hello. Watched 3 waitresses grab coffee from right in front of me and served the regulars empty cups and others at the booths. 5. Walked over to front desk and asked for a menu. 7. Breakfast bar still empty with the exception of the regulars 3 stools to my right. 8. 13 mins later. Finally asked by a male waiter if I wanted coffee. 9. Watched 3 waiters and what appeared to be a manager because he was handing out paychecks have idle chatter at the other end of the breakfast bar. 10. Restaurant wasnt full. 3 indoor booths completed their breakfast, outside patio had content patrons. 11. Pulled out magazine. Finally placed order 23 mins into my experience. 12. The hostessto tried to be nice to make up for her coworkers shortcomings. 13. Food arrived promptly. I sat right in front and had an excellent view of the efficient and effective kitchen. The chef ran the kitchen like a 5 star restaurant. ONLY REASON WHY I DIDNT LEAVE. The eggs benedict was perfect 14. However, my coffee cup remained empty for the next 10 mins while the regulars to my right had 3 waiters catering to their every need. They even asked tons of questions about the killer shrimp baseball caps before a waiter finally brought one out. 15. While waiting for a refill, my second eggs benedict got cold and my appetite was completely killed. 16. I gave up and begged for my check. I even watched an employee off her shift get better service than me to my left while waiting for my check. 17. Bill came, no apologies, nothing... I was so glad I had cash. First time in life I chose not to leave a tip and pray its the last. Ive lived/worked all over the US and World and this was THE WORST SERVICE EVER. Im so proud of myself for keeping my cool and saving my words for this review.

What makes shrimp killer? Could it be the killer wait? The wait time here was about 45-an hr on a busy Saturday night. Luckily they will send you a text when your table is ready so you can peruse the bar. The bar has self seating and loads of televisions showing the different games. It was really busy and seemed like most of the clientele were regulars. Great little atmosphere to grab drinks and mingle with friends. Could it be the killer service? The customer service here is ahmmmazing. While waiting in the bar area the service did seem a bit spotty. The bartenders were slammed and one of the bartenders forgot to give me my drink. She was nice enough to put it on the house and sincerely apologized for her mistake. Once we were seated our server continued with quality service. She was friendly and very accommodating. You can tell this is the kind of establishment that really care about their customers. Could it be the killer view? The view was lovely. The dining area had a prime view of the marina and on this particularly warm night the marina breeze was a welcomed relief. The decor is nice as well. Not overly fancy but not too casual. Perfect place for a date or evening with friends. The only thing that wasnt so killer was the food. For an appetizer I had the oysters and calamari both were scrumptious, especially the calamari. The oysters were served with a vinaigrette, horse radish and some cocktail sauce. Loved the appetizers but the killer shrimp over angel hair was soooooooooooooo spicy and lacked something. Maybe if it had some diced onions or mushrooms or a cream component.....something. I also had the shrimp po boy was great. Perfect amount of shrimp fried just right. I substituted the sweet potato fries with reg fries and loved it. I would suggest the po boy over the killer shrimp with angel hair pasta. Overall worth a visit if you love seafood. The service was phenomenal and the food was pretty good.

We absolutely love the place and cant wait to visit again. If I get a chance, Ill post a picture of the huge bowls that they call an entree and all the wonderful goodness, aroma not included. The loaf of bread that was cut into slices that they start you off with is nothing short of fulfilling. I was pretty loaded from that while waiting for my shrimp and rice to arrive. I have a strong tolerance for spiciness, but what they call mild was pretty spicy to me. It was served with a platter of steamed white rice and I just added the juiced to eat and peeled off the shrimp tails. I must say I was very pleased that the place was very kid and family friendly. My little one and I went on a Sunday without reservations. We were still able to get on the somewhat full list and about 15 minutes later were sent a text for our table. I also loved that they offered a high chair, even though shes very busy, high energy toddler, and gave her crayons to color with and a coloring page, despite the upscale atmosphere. There was commotion all about, but in a good way. They were far from being short staffed, which meant that every guest was attended to in a prompt manner and I was very well impressed. Shrimp is one of my other favorite foods after tacos that I could eat everyday so they didnt disappoint. The kids menu offered a selection of fish, chicken, and sides so we tried the fish that day. Had to check and see if it wasnt too hot and nibble lol, so it was very easy for her to chew and flavorful with a crispy crunch. She always eats rice so she had some of mine, the fries, and bread. The bowl was so big, we left with a take-home container for 2 days. Definitely something worth venturing to if youre in the Marina and do stroll the walkway right out back behind the cafe.

Service is raggedy. Heres why: We walked in, greeted pleasantly. Waited 10 minutes. We got seated and Heidi(our waitress) takes our order (Fish and Chips & Salmon Burger). We receive our order and.... womp womp womp. Two medium sizes of fish slapped onto a huge pile of fries. The fish was skimpy and for $16 I expected some more fish for my overbearing chips. I also received some cough inducing spicy mess of tartar sauce. Why was this not on the menu when I ordered? I dont know but I dont do spicy! My mothers Salmon burger was severely lacking in taste and seasoning. Bland. Also the cook has slathered on a large stack of onions and a huge tomato. Really sir/maam? Really? When we informed Heidi about this she was nice and tried to fix the tartar sauce mess. The guy eventually came out with our tartar sauce and we asked for a manager. The tartar sauce was the same spicy mess I said I didnt want and it became annoying to have to ask a second time for the correct and regular tartar sauce. When Antonio(Manager) came out he was nice in trying to swap out our meals to give us something we liked. Soon our pineapple juices that we ordered were running low so we asked Heidi for a re-fill. At first she ignored us, then after we asked again she quickly became annoyed with us and showed discontent and told us "shed be with us in a moment". She comes back to the table almost 10 minutes later and asks us what we wanted. There goes your tip sweetheart. Out the window along with the awful service. We ended up giving her tip to the bus boy that seemed more attentive than Heidi did. Conclusion: Skip the Killer Shrimp and head to a REAL seafood restaurant and enjoy yourself. Two Stars for Antonio and his kindness.
