Young Dong is a solid standard Korean Tofu joint, overall a 3.5. Its a good Korean Tofu place to eat at if you are in the neighborhood, but not worth traveling across town for. The restaurant is located near San Gabriel and Las Tunas in the same shopping center as 168 Market, Sam Woo, and ORiley Auto Parts. The environment is casual, loud, family-oriented, and no frills. Service is meh. The food came out within a reasonable time and they are friendly but indifferent. You will have to flag down someone for a refill of water or banchan. The restaurant is small-to-moderately sized and gets jammed packed. Even on a Friday night at about 10PM, there were only a few tables open. Seating is also cramped if you dont snag a booth. Some of the tables are essentially the dreaded community seating. In general, the food is tasty, prepared well, and good value. Spicy pork + Tofu: $18.99 and BBQ beef + Tofu: $18.99: The meat comes out on the standard sizzling plates and had good flavor. The meat, however, wasnt the best of quality but satisfying nonetheless. The banchan had good variety and was pungent and tasty. The kimchee and pancake were standouts in particular.

Been to a lot of Korean food places in K-town, but this is one of my favorites that are not located in K-town for tofu bowl. The only bad part is either arrive early or be prepare to wait for a while. Prices for just tofu bowls are now $9.25, but it is still cheaper than some K-town places like BCD tofu which is a popular place also for tofu bowl; lot of different selection of tofu bowl like oyster only or even dumpling. Combos are pricier of course, ranging at a max of $19 for the ribs and a tofu bowl. I would say a combo actually can feed 2, especially since it comes with salad and side dishes...but we tend to order 2 and pack it to go. Dont forget to decide how spicy you want the tofu soup and tea for your rice bowl at the end. Also to save $$$$....come for lunch since it is cheaper. Although this place is packed, services are still awesome from the Korean workers. Parking can be tough, especially since there are other restaurants and a 168 Supermarket next to it..so eat till your belly aches and then go for a stroll!

I think its kinda cool how my dad went from internet/ computer noob to searching yelp for restaurants! My dad suggested this place, but ended up regretting it. So we are both used to the cheap prices of ktown. Prices here are so expensive for what they give! A soon tofu is $9.20.. Most places are around $6. But thats not even the expensive part.. Everything else on the menu is $12+! I wanted bibymnaengmyun for this hot afternoon but it was $13.. Wtf! It is usu around $6! The girl next to me ordered it and the portions werent huge or anything that would justify its high price. My dad got the dolsut bibimbap (the one cooked in the stone pot) and the soon tofu combo. It was around $17!!! But honestly, that couldve been shared between 2 people. Their banchan portions were huge- the only pro. So if I come here next time, my new plan for attack will be share the combo. Gorge on the banchan. The end.

Had dinner at Young Dong Tofu on a Saturday night and the place was BUSY. You dont expect to wait a half an hour for a Korean tofu shop, so it must be good. Well, its fine. I had the beef and dumpling tofu soup, and while it wasnt bad, I dont think there was much more to it than a little bit of heat. Their sides are typical but still very good. Im not a fan of the rice in the stone bowl, I feel like I lose too much rice that way. I get thats how it is, but I dont get the appeal. Final verdict, Ive had better tofu soup, but if youre in the area and in the mood, its a decent stop.

If you like to eat Korean Tofu soup, you no longer need to go to Korean town for it. In the heart of SGV you can now get Korean Tofu soup. This place is always pack with people. (you know that the food is always fresh) The wait for can be 30-45 minutes long, but it worth the wait. The food is good with generous portions. The servers are always attentive and will alway refill your side dish and water. I love and always order beef and kimchi tofu and a side order of Korean barbecue ribs with the multi-grain rice which does not cost extra.

This is a place weve been going if we feel going for a Korean Tofu. Our family always enjoy eating here. My wife was a little bit disappointed as she always expect an oyster in the kimchi. The waiters pay attention to your needs. Sunny offered an explanation of their loyalty card program. I dont know if there was a management switch but it feels that the place is getting more attention and is on the peoples radar as the wait to be seated took us around 30 mins. Overall: Mashi so yo!

Ok so I just went here last night and I feel like I STILL reek of this place. Nonetheless, food was good if you like Tofu and Korean BBQ. Shared the seafood tofu and beef bbq ribs with a friend. They also bring out a bunch of stuff as the customary Korean BBQ appetizers including pickled cucumbers, the potato pancake thing, cabbage, kimchi, and some other goodies. Good bang for your buck and definitely shareable.

Faboulous place.... Delicious food.... Very friendly and fast staff... The down side is when cleaning up tables, it is done fast but we shouldnt see the containers (better in black color) where the dirty dishes are placed... Too noisy when dropping dishes in containers.... Dirty dishes should be taken by hand or trays to special place in the back not have it all around and in the front near the cashier. . .

Young Don Tofu has one of best Korean soon tofu in the Rowland Heights area!!! Food is authentic and price is very reasonable. Ive only visited the RH location - staff are friendly. But I think its run by a family and they were a bit overwhelmed by the volume of guests so service was a little slow last time I went. But Id definitely recommend this place if you are in the mood of tofu soup.

Quick service despite being very busy. Pancake with our meal was extra and nice. Tasty pork bulgogi, tofu soup was nice, kimchee a bit on the spicy side and not as good as our BCD favorite. Quiet environment (no loud music) and we enjoyed sitting out the back in the separate room. Worth a visit and is now our BCD equivalent now weve moved east of downtown.

Quick service, consistent food even if you go to one of their other chain location. Comes with 5-6 banchan (side dishes) with refills upon request. The BBQ meat was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I wish they would actually have more tofu in the tofu soup. Tables and floor were greasy. Unisex bathroom was filthy.

My family of four was given a table in the corner and was a very tight seating and the server prioritized a more open table to three people who were behind us. When I asked if we cant switch before the three people were seated the employee seating us declined. Would not come again if that worker in on her shift.
