If you have special dietary needs or you need adjustments, this place might not be for you to be completely honest. It was very hard to figure out what each dish consists of and whether it has, for example, milk products, egg etc... The menu here does not state this at all. My friend and I tried to ask clearance from several waiters and no one seemed to have a clear answer to our concerns. At least two of the waiters said they would "confirm the ingredients from the cook", but disappeared to the kitchen and never came back with the answer. As a vegan, I give a lot of credit to a place that shows clearly they are aware of what kind of products they should and should not be using in vegan food, and that they are careful with this. I am also happy to notice when they make me feel wanted and that they respect my values as a customer who pays for the food. Here, I didnt feel like that... Instead, I felt like they would sell me just about anything and just say "yeah, it is vegan". They also put the breads with butter (my friends order) ON TOP of the roti that was supposed to be vegan (my order). I left this restaurant feeling like this place probably has sold me something that I did not sign up for. The manager was also, unfortunately, pretty attacking when we were trying to give constructive feedback, and this I did not appreciate. I was asking if they would be able to have a clear lists of ingredients (that way even the newer waiters could go and check from very easily). To this, the manager snapped at me and said "we dont have those type of ingredient lists, we are not any kind of fast food place"....So my question is, how does the cook know how to make these if he does not have an ingredient list/recipe? I was pretty shocked to hear this and still trying to comprehend.. I have been to other Indian restaurants where the menu clearly states the "vegan" and "vegetarian" options (as well as the others) which would be great for this place to have as well, not only for the sake of someones personal beliefs, but also for allergies/intolerance. I gave an extra star because in despite of this negative experience the food was quite good and the food came quickly. Hopefully the management will take this as a constructive criticism and not a personal attack. Peace.

Excellent! Flavorful, fresh Indian. I believe that every dish here, along with every condiment and side, are made fresh from scratch every day. Attentive, very polite service. Some of the best dishes: Tomato Lentil Soup, Paneer Naan, Pallack Paneer (aka, saag paneer), Chicken Makhani (delicious and very mild), Chicken Biryani, and the Shahi Kofta (aka, Malai Kofta). They are always happy to customize a dish, and by default, they dont serve overly-spicy food. But if you like it spicy, or any other special way, just ask and they will do it for you. In my opinion, Swad is one of the best Indian restaurants in the Bay Area, and certainly the best I have found in the East Bay area as far as the quality of food, cleanliness, and service. Its also GREAT for takeout. NOTE: Sometime this month (November, 2015), Swad will be moving to a new location just a couple blocks away at 960 Moraga ROAD, (cross street Moraga BLVD.), next door to Chevalier. Looking forward to new amenities in the new space!

This restaurant is one of my favorite Indian restaurants since they serve delicious authentic Indian food. The decoration is very nice and adds a traditional feeling to environment of the restaurant. In terms of service, I believed it was great since the waiters always went around to make sure every customer was provided satisfaction. I recommend Swad Indian Cuisine to everyone, whether it be for a family dinner or just hanging out with some friends. Their Mango Lassi and Samosas are mouthwatering, I recommend you try them when you have a chance to visit Swad Indian Cuisine.

We may have found our new favorite spot for Indian cuisine. We sampled a range on our first visit and we werent disappointed. Both meat and vegatarian samosas were a good start with unusually crunchy shells, we enjoyed two different naans and the lamp vindaloo was delicious. The chicken masala was less satisfying, needing more flavor and smaller pieces of chicken. We will try something different next time, but cant wait to revisit the vindaloo. Easy access and parking in front.

This is located right off the lafayette bart station. And one night, on my way back home, happened to stop by this restaurant to get some food. The biryani we ordered was very good. The bread was soft (and not burnt, as it usually is in other indian restaurants). Highly recommended if you are in the east bay area, easily accessible by public transport, and parking behind the restaurant , off the street.

I go to Swad at least a couple of times per month. Mainly Ive been having Tandoori and both their chicken and mixed platter are absolutely delicious. The people are friendly. Im greeted by name. And I think the price is reasonable for the quality.

I would prefer naan and curry in concord over this place , The location is good , Food taste aint that great . Also the buffet has very limited options .. Not worth it . Try Naan & Curry instead if you are looking for other options ...

This place is closed and under constraction. But on the web it is indicated as open. Wasted half an hour to drive here to kiss the closed door. And there was also some other people getting in to same situation.

Biryaani (any flavor) these guys are serving are the best in BAY area.. no match for that. Good hospitality and average order time. Could improve a bit more on Hygiene.

Terrible service, terrible wait, they just kept lying to me about when my food was going to be ready. Every 15 minutes they would say 20 more minutes, ridiculous

Excellent lunch with all items well prepared and delicious. Only complaint, other than price ($9.95), was lack of soup and not enough veggie dishes.
