We recently held a reunion at La Jolla Brewing Company and sadly I can’t recommend this venue for your event. We were promised table clothes under the food, but it seems they only own two and needed it for their hostess stand. Our event was contracted from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The manager was leaving at 10:00 p.m. and asked me to settle the bill before he left. When I went back to my event around 10:20 the staff had already told my party attendees to clear the patio so they could close it, taken all our food back to the kitchen, and allowed about 60 people into our party area. We couldn’t even get the bartenders to make us drinks…they were busy with all the people who took over our space. The manager was gone and the event manager was out of town, so it was my fault I didn’t call the events manager who was out of town with my phone that didn’t get cellular reception. What were they going to do at that point get our food out of the trash, re-light the patio, and clear about 60 people out of the bar?? If you want a lot of headaches and be treated like second class citizens, have your event here. All I got was a “Sorry”.

We came in on Sunday May 3rd 2009 in the afternoon and the place was pretty much empty. Ordered a Belgian Brown and A pitcher of red. The brown was very yeasty and cloudy, it was sent back and another pitcher of red was ordered in its place. The red was pretty ok. I ordered a burger and a salad. Someone else ordered nachos for the 6 of us to split. Waitress forgot about our Appetizer (Nachos), and 20 minutes later when we politely inquired asked if they were coming, a very short yes an she was off to wipe down more tables. 5 minutes later she came back with the very hot nachos, and 2 minutes after that she came back with my salad and burger, and the rest of the food. A 20% gratuity was mandatory because we were a 6 top. If it was busy, maybe this kind of service could be excused, but the waitress made it seem like we were inconveniencing her. Food was mediocre, although the sweet potato fries would have been good if they were served hot. Nice good quality dill pickles as a garish. Salad was fresh, but the dressing was from a bottle.

When you arrive, you are supposed to seat yourself, which wasnt obvious. Once seated, it took a long time for a server to finally notice us and even longer to get us some menus. We went here after getting a Google Offer, and the server told us that the Google Offer was good for any two burgers, two orders of fries, and two beers, all of which would be free. In reality (only discovered once we got the bill), the Google Offer really just took a set amount off the total, so we ended up paying a bit extra for our burgers. The food itself was quite good. One order came out with the wrong kind of fries, and an appetizer of hummus was completely forgotten -- fortunately, it was comped when we finally got it. I got the BBQ burger, and I thought it was cooked very well. The meat was tasty, and the meal itself was filling. Overall, I recommend this place for the food, but they need some work on their service.

This place is still growing on me. I love the little nook in this laid back part of downtown La Jolla and for some reason, La Jolla Brewing is still settling into the neighborhood and doesnt quite fit. Dont get me wrong, the beer is great, especially with a strong selection of local microbrews. Beer flights are fun. The indoor seating is boisterous, packed with people of all ages and plenty of SportsCenter and sporting event coverage. The fire pit patio is usually packed, but a great place for groups to lounge. Its just that for the price point, the snacks like flatbreads, artichoke dip, and wings are just okay. I recommend grabbing dinner elsewhere and heading here afterwards (when there isnt a private event going on) to enjoy local brewskis at a sweet fireside table.

We were hoping for a great Sunday lunch at the Brew House, but were very disappointed. We sat at a table for 30 minutes before we received drinks and menus. Then sat another 15 before our orders were taken. It was apparent that they had some staffing challenges. Apparently a cook or two didnt show up and they were scrambling. Absolutely understandable, but they kept lying to everyone about it and saying orders would be up in "just a minute" that hadnt even be sent to the kitchen. After 90 minutes we ended up paying for our drinks and walked out. We certainly understand these things happen, but would have appreciated some honesty and proactive service remediation. No apologies were given or an offer to comp our drinks.

Great beer list, delicious food and dog friendly with a food menu for the dogs. Theyre definitely over priced but its kind of expected in La Jolla, despite this being one of the more chill spots in town. Theres a small parking lot and street parking is usually available. The staff is super friendly and loves your 4-legged friends. The food menu is meat and cheese-heavy, not the spot for a light meal unless you go with some of the salads. Ive been able to find some more rare drafts here so Im always looking forward to whats on the beer menu. The dog menu is fun as well and my little guy loves the chicken pops. Sit on the patio, watch some football and enjoy the atmosphere.

Definitely not the best brewery in town to eat and taste at. They have 5 core beers from their brewery in which they were out of two. We settled and chose from the 3 they had. Sad they have more beers from other local breweries than their own. Food was subpar. Pretzel as an app was a joke. I could have went to walmart and heated up a super pretzel myself if thats what I wanted. Chicken cali wrap was gross. I was expecting real bacon on the wrap not bacos. Expected better quality from this place. Service was ok. We were never checked on after we ordered our food except when we were completely finished eating.

The food is medicore for the price. This place has a great atmosphere on Tuesdays for Trivia night but the reward was an absolute joke. I was part of a group of 4 (the smallest group playing) that won and our tab was upwards of $80 and the prize for winning trivia was a $25 gift card and that was it; almost not worth playing in the first place. There is always space at the bar to grab a drink and the patio outside has a nice fire pit. This bar feels local and it integrates this vibe by the way they name their beers. They have $4 house beers for Monday Football.

My wife and I had our wedding reception here! They were very helpful and accommodating! The staff made sure everything went smoothly and the bartender was amazing! The event manager was constantly checking in and making sure we were happy. The bar didnt have a certain liquor that the bride wanted, so an employee went to the store next door and bought 2 bottles just for the party. As far as dinner, the chicken was amazing, however the pork chops were a little dry. Other than that, our overall experience was great!
