Went here for dinner about a week ago, and it was terrible. Food: Im not sure how you mess up teriyaki chicken, its litterally two ingredients and a grill, but they managed it. The chicken was as dry as the mojave desert, and the flavorless teriyaki sauce didnt do much to help. The rest of the food was much the same, though the sushi rolls themselves were moderately acceptable. Portions were pretty small. Service: The restaurant was really quiet when we entered, maybe only 10 other customers or so. Still, I had to flag down the waiter for refills on my drink, and the check. She spent most of her time at the cash register chatting with another of the employees. Id like to say that the saving grace of this restaurant was the price, which was very reasonable, but given that the food and service was so bad, even the price doesnt justify it.

Decent service, but food was gross. Sushi should be fresh and impeccably prepared.The rolls were too loose, and fell apart when picked up. Mackerel was spoiled, sent it back. They were accommodating but bad fish in a sushi restaurant kind of spoils the whole experience. I guess this passes as good sushi for Hollister, but if youve ever had real sushi its not the place to go. They actually ask if you want wasabi when you order! I dont know who that guy in the photo is, but there were no Asian chefs there when we went. The tempura veggies were actually very good, but everything else was not.

Wanted to try a new place in walking distance from my house people were nice but did not see or talk to them much. They brought my ladys food out 10 minutes before mine witch is fine with me but she waited of course and it became cold. The sushi was not so great at all. Ive had better at a buffet. Im sorry to write a bad review but I hope it helps how they do things to improve. I most likely will not eat here again. sorry but best of luck to you guys.

As good or better than Sushi we have had out of town! Great bang for the buck, everything tastes great, insanely personable and awesome service. They give you free edamame and miso soup if you eat in and the times we have picked up orders they often have it ready before they say it will be ready.

Surprisingly good! Mexicans through it down with the sushi! Small place. Con is that the service is not the greatest. Its a little slow and there was one waiter that didnt let people sit where they wanted and they way she asked them to move was a bit rude and rushed.

I have been eating here for years with my family and have had several birthdays at AJs. The food is amazing and has an authentic atmosphere. Service and owners are amazing and my family and I will be coming here for a long time to come.

One of my favorite places to go in Hollister to eat. 9/10 times its spot on but theres always room for improvement. Highly recommend!
