The best breakfast restaurant in the South Bay! My favorite breakfast dish is Suzys French Toast. If its a weekend, get there early or be prepared to wait. Lunch are dinner are also excellent. The sandwiches are great and the portions are large. I always eat half a sandwich there and take the other half home for another meal. The blue plate specials are delicious--great comfort food. Try the macaroni and cheese. It tastes homemade. Dont leave without getting something from the bakery case. Ive never been disappointed by their muffins, pies, cheesecakes and cakes. The service is great. The atmosphere is casual (small-town friendly). Ive been coming here 13 years and have never had a bad experience.

Comparing it to other diners Ive been to, it just gave me mixed feelings for my first time there. The place is nice. The parking isnt entirely great, but if youre patient youll find a spot. I expected it to be busy and it was. Maybe because we were in a bit of a hurry but the service lagged a little, which was understandable since there was a lot of people. My table was wobbly so i fixed it myself. I wasnt sure what to get so with some help, I got the crem brulee waffle with two eggs and sausage. I thought the waffle was way too sweet and it just wasnt for me. The food, for the price, just missed for me. I really would have liked a better food experience since I walked in with high expectations.

I do not recommend the blue plate special off the lunch menu. Whatever is hiding under the gravy is not meatloaf it is some type of mystery meat. The mashed potatoes were ok and then I taste a piece of the meat, which btw was mushy. I scrape the gravy off to see what Im eating and the meat was of something I have never seen before. Looks like a huge thick unflattering object. The server told me all meatloaf looks that way. Um no it does not. All the veggies were hard and flavorless. Food takes about 5 minutes to make now that I think about it. Microwave food? Not a good first experience and not a happy paying customer.

A friend took me here for breakfast the other morning. Service was friendly and extraordinarily fast and the food was delish. Love that they offer non-traditional breakfast options since Im not really an egg/pancake/waffle person. The Ericas special fit the bill - lots of fresh veggies over brown rice and a tangy soy ginger sauce on the side. The included biscuit was the size of a salad plate. Picked up a scone and muffin (along with most of the biscuit that I didnt finish) to bring home to my husband and he thought everything was great!

One of my favorite local breakfast spots. The 40s diner vibe is fun (there are even actual WWII newspapers framed on the wall) and the service is outstanding. The same people always seem to be working and they are consistently great. The food includes typical fare (pancakes, waffles, omelets, breakfast burritos, etc.) but each has a personal touch. For example, the pancakes with granola and bananas are superb. Theres also a wide variety of skillets for the more adventurous. Oh, and a healthy menu for the calorie conscious.

We have gone to the Ocean Diner for years for breakfast, and have never been disappointed. Quite the contrary. Creative new baked cakes and muffins never cease to surprise and delight us. On top of that, the staff are always quick to make great suggestions, and very attentive. The big surprise was dinner. We went for the first time a week ago, and now I view the place in a whole new light. It is home cooking kicked up a notch. If you go, try the chicken pot pie or the meatloaf, both were fantastic!

This place is truly amazing. Delicious food. Fast service. Great staff. I am not a fan of waffles but something about Ocean Diners waffles are different than anywhere else! Too good to be true :) This is my new favorite gem in Hermosa. Plan accordingly as there can be a bit of a wait on the weekends but it is sure worth it! The milkshakes are outrageous, my burrito was fantastic and I look forward to coming to the Ocean Diner at least once every weekend when I am in town :)

Great food and fast friendly service! I only gave 4 stars because the wait is often pretty dang long. All the food we ordered was amazing and fresh. They say its just like moms cooking, but better and I couldnt agree more! I got the veggie grilled cheese and it was incredible! We also ordered the peanut butter pie and it was to die for! Love this place!

This place is adorable. It has a really relaxing diner atmosphere, and it has so many menu options that youre guaranteed to find something you like on it. If I ever get the chance to come back, Im definitely saving room for dessert because the ones they had on display looked amazing. Plenty of healthy options here too though!

Lots of vegetarian options... substitute egg whites, brown rice, tofu, and whole wheat to any item on the menu. Large array of choices. Food tasted clean and non greasy. On a strict plant based lifestyle and the staff was more than accommodating. Plenty of parking on the street or on Ocean Avenue behind the restaurant.

We were on vacation for a few days and when looking for a breakfast place stubble across Ocean Diner. The food is amazing. The staff is super friendly. We ate there twice in a row. The portions are huge couldnt even finish it all.. and the price is affordable. The oatmeal cream burlee is a Most. Love it.

Simply the best breakfast/coffee you can you get in the south bay. The food is always hot and fresh and comes out insanely fast. Get the tortilla scramble or California enchiladas. Oh yeah, also THERES A WHOLE GRILLED CHEESE SECTION TO THE MENU. If you havent eaten here, youre missing out.

A bit pricey. Too cold, needs to turn up the heat. Food was good and well prepared Great variety. Service was fast and friendly. Luv the wall decor, framed editions of the LA post from 1944. Nice touch. History buffs will feel quite at home.

I love the Fitness Breakfast! I substitute the a a fat-free,sugar-free muffin for toast, and grilled tofu for the lean turkey patty every time, and have never been dissapointed! My favorite breakfast place in The South Bay!

Yes it is just a diner. But they do a GREAT job of it. I asked for my burger to have a scoop of their famous Mac N Cheese on top. They did it and it was great.
