VERY Disappointed!!! We drove 45 minutes out of our way to check out this brewery as we are on vacay from the east coast and LOVE beer! The hostess quickly informed us that if we were not going to eat a full meal we would need to sit at the bar which was packed with no available seats or high tops open. We asked if we could do beers and apps on the patio and she again stated that if we were not eating a meal we would need to go to the bar! I would understand if it was the weekend but this was 5pm on a Wed night where more than half of their inside seating was available as well as more than half of their outside seating! Needless to say we left without a beer and moved on to the next great west coast brewery who were welcoming and kind! Work on your customer service bear rebublic!!!! Worst west coast experience yet!!!!

I like their beer. The first time I had Racer IPA, I think I was too drunk to appreciate it but had it a second time, and its really solid. Recently tried their Mai Bock and Amber, and they were also good (surprisingly so for the Amber: nice and caramel-y). Im upset with the place, though, because I specifically visited them to fill up a growler to take home with dinner, and this is one of those "we only fill growlers with our own label on it" places. I dont get this policy: are you in the beer business or the glass bottle business? I drink a lot of different beers, and I dont want to have a collection of 100 growlers and have to remember to take the right one to each place. Its a really annoying policy (I checked) that they could change and theyd sell more beer, e.g., to me.

The Bear does have a cool, hip-ish bar-friendly atmosphere but dont go for anything other than the beer. Service is always less than average and the food is hit or miss. I read another persons review where they stated that the bartender was anything but friendly and I have to agree 100%. The waitstaff is either annoyed acting that you are there or you have to wait a near lifetime to be served. However, seeing as how I have been home all day today from work and sick to my stomach I will not be venturing back to the Bear for a long, long time---if ever. AVOID THE MEATLOAF AT ALL COSTS!!! I live in Healdsburg and take it from me, there are far better places to spend your dollars!

Had the specialty flight and the beer was 3.5/5 stars overall. The most balanced beers were the double IPAs. Stars taken off for the food. Had the fish and chips special with coleslaw and garlic fries (ordered truffle fries but they tasted like garlic fries). Several pieces of fish had raw batter and the coleslaw was flavorless. Not worth $17.50, even if the fish had been completely fried, the coleslaw had flavor, and the fries truly tasted of truffles. Overall, the specialty beers were good, but not as balanced as their standard lineup. The food was bad and the special overpriced, which is why Im giving 2 stars.

After a disappointing trip to North Coast Brewings restaurant, Bear Republic was a nice change. The bill was $15 less, the food was better, the beer selections better, and the service was way better. This place has a nice outdoor seating area, inside is kinda dark and ugly though. Waitress was great, even offered us tastings of beer to help us decide what we wanted. Pints are reasonably priced as is food. Lots of interesting beer styles on tap (15+) so theres something for everyone. Sandwiches are great. Definitely will hit this place up next time Im in the area.

We were in Sonoma on a trip and I wanted to check out the home of one of my favorite beers, Racer 5. My wife and I sat outside after doing a 40 mile bike ride through the vineyards. The outside area is nice, looking out on the creek and very little noise from the square around the corner. Not having tried many of their other beers, I got the hoppy sampler (5-6 beers). While there were some nice brews in there, I will stick with Racer 5 and Racer X. I had the fish tacos, which were actually quite tasty.

The Bear Republic is a great place if you are looking for a delicious beer and a bite to eat. The beer is average price but the food is a little expensive. The picture added is a "Justa Burger" with cheddar cheese and bacon added with onion rings for $18. They have a very large beer selection to suite every beer drinkers palette. I will definetly be going back for a beer next time I am in town but might skip the food.

I ordered a Racer 5 and enjoyed it emensly, I also ordered nachos and a pretzel, first the nachos were bland and had a very light coating of grated cheese. The pretzel was hard and rubbery definitely warmed up in a microwave. Overall the beer was outstanding but the food was terrible. I will definitely think twice before dining there again. Definitely go back for a beer though.

Good bar and good beer! Visited on a weekday and no problem getting I table. A little disappointed about the beer selection, they didnt have all there "standard" beers on tap. Convinced the staff to open a bottle of a beer that werent on tap. They usually dont do it so that was very kind of them :) Food was OK, I had a plate of nachos!

I had the sour, Tartare, which was excellent. Try branching out away from their standard IPAs for a pleasant surprise. The truffle fries were delicious and the service was so friendly and attentive! The place has a great, relaxing ambiance and also free Wi-Fi! Highly recommended for refugees from the absurd line at Russian River.

Love this place! It can be loud, but there beer is amazing! Yes, lots of IPAs but they have a brown ale, a porter and even a lager. Ill admit the food is basic but done well (especially if you like burgers, fries or fish tacos). As a side note this brewery has won numerous awards even though they are in wine country!

90 percent of the food was with cajon spices. I like the heat but my wife has a hard time with it. She did find a Mac & Cheese and great truffle fries. We load e our beers and tried the 2 highest alcohol content beers. They were great. We sat outside and enjoyed it. Inside was lowder with a local game on TV.

The beers are excellent and they serve you beer here that you cant get at your local market. Racer5 has always been one of my favorite IPAs, but BigBearStout, RacerX and BlackRacer and HOpRodRye are great too, and the burgers and sandwiches are just fine. Service is good and servers know their beers.

After days of tasting wines, a good beer was a welcome respite. The tavern was busy and the bartender was excellent, I tasted several of the brews with the highlight being the black IPA. Did not try the food but was quite pleased with the place. I think they had about 10 different brews on tap.
