See update below... It was Good. The food is decent but the service and environment could be better. Still, the price of the food and the selection was fair. However the AC, and timeliness of the food, especially with a small crowd, could be better. Still the food & health inspection department gives it an A grade rating. Would I go back? Yes, Id try it again. Would I favorite this place? Thats Debatable. Update: Pros Would I favorite this place? I just might. I feel my three stars may have been a bit harsh so I increased it one. The food here is good and the service is still okay. I just learned the selection of food varies. While everything in the menu is available during buffet hours (no additional charge), if something isnt out, you simply request it and voila! The hostess brings it out. The menu consists of: gumbo (with all the traditional ingredients{yes, crab, sausage & shrimp}), ox tails, red beans rice, red snapper, BBQ chicken, fried chicken, meatloaf, black eye peas, rice, corn bread, & BBQ baby back ribs, among others. While the drink list does not include any liqour, beer, or wine, you can have all the bottled and canned soda, juice and water you want. All of this at the fantastic price of $10.89. Hell of a deal, right? The hostess come around frequently checking and ensuring all the guest are satisfied. You can either leave a tip on the table or with your card when you pay. The place has ample seating and can sit 52 before the fire department steps in. So if you have groups or need to host a big party, you can. If you need catering, the joint offers catering. If youre coming for the ambience? Youll he disappointed. While the place doesnt look halfway near fancy it does the job of letting you sit and eat in peace. He noise level is typically low to mildly high. However its never so loud you can hear your partner across from you. The music played includes traditional African American oldies. When you step in and hear it, youll feel like youve just stepped back into the late 70s & 80s. This place is a mom and pop shop so there is some work to be done but overall it is a restaurant that you should consider trying. Cons: Like any buffet, you arent allowed to take anything to go. PS, if youre wondering how the food tastes? It taste like food for the soul.

Dont let the location or looks fool you. This food has all the soul flavors of the south and more! Trust me ...I know soul food and good down home cooking. Some soul food restaurants try ..but this food definitely makes a party in your mouth! My Pastor and I met another friend there for lunch. She told us to get there at 11:30 because the line would be long. We got there at 11:30 (ish) and even though my friend was the 3rd person in a line of maybe about 35 people ...we still didnt get in until very close to 12. Everything is buffet, so I believe they were a little bit late getting the food out...but it was worth the wait! I tried a little bit of everything. The rough in the gumbo (with the exception of no seafood in it) ..taste like it came out of my kitchen!..so I was definitely satisfied with that. The fried cat fish was golden brown and good, so were the chicken wings. I also sampled the bar b q pork ribs, that were delicious and tender, my Pastor really enjoyed them as well. I had to try the huge meatballs like my mom use to make and they brought back memories. I even went back for helping of the yams . After trying them, I was satisfied and did not miss not having desert. By the time we finished eating..they had put out fried thick center cut pork chops that also looked delicious..and Im sure they probably were..but I was too full to try one! However, I will be back :-) The young man that took our plates was very respectful. I asked if it was family owned and he said yes it was his family and they were from Alabama. The food definitely holds up to its name. .."Dirty South Soul Food". It was good food for the soul. I enjoyed everything..and especially the fellowship with my friends which put the icing on the cake :- Mary

Finally able to stop and see what my niece found enjoyable about the Dirty South Soul food spot. I just left this spot minutes ago. Yep the website said they closed at 6pm by they close at 8pm. Eating at this spot was like eating at my Auntie Helen house. The staff was friendly from the point of entrance to my exit. This young lady working the registered treated me like I was her Auntie. Asked to serve me from the buffet to try all the delights on the buffet line. She picked some choices I wouldnt have but its the thought that counts. Thoughtfulness at its best served up Southern Style. I was thinking about getting my plate to go so glad I chose to sit and eat. I really enjoyed the food. It was close to home cooking. I ate the corn muffin that was individually wrapped it was okay. I like mine in a loaf pan and cut. Its a difference between a muffin and a piece of cornbread. I like my Mac and cheese held together with egg but their Mac and cheese was tasty. Would have loved to see sucatash and smothered chicken on the food lineup. But that may be a menu item in another day. Overall 4 Stars for food and service. I will definitely revisit this spot. Oh the seafood Gumbo was nice, I just needed a a Crab leg. I know, I want a lot! :-) I said I will be back. :-)

The food was decent for $10. The place was a bit small but thats ok, however the buffet table is also kind of small so everything that was in the menu wasnt necessarily out ! I learned if somethings not out you can request it and walla walla magic✨. The host needed to be a little more friendly being that she is the HOST! lol and shes the restaurants first impression so make it a good one and say hello to customers with a smile. The waitresses were very nice. Checks on your table seeing if you need anything often. Theres even a big 7 foot dude there that was very nice and checked on me and my bro often. Even he smiled more then the host ! All you can drink Soda, juice.,But when I tell you they have the bombest Koolade baby lol ..I mix theyre lemonade with the red koolade it is heaven...Would I be back ? Absolutely

So worth. Just get here early, it gets packed pretty quickly if you want to dine in for the buffet. Ox tails and collard greens were my favorite, but everything was good. Staff is super friendly. There is a parking lot, but like the restaurant, may fill up quick. It was $10 for the lunch buffet. I ate quite a bit, but didnt feel weighed down or heavy, but I didnt eat too much of the fried stuff, not because it wasnt good, there was just too many other stuff I had to try, seems like something new came out every 10 minutes. Note that there is a 1 hour limit when its busy, which I imagine is all the time, but that should be plenty of time to stuff yourself. But with that in mind, may not be the best place to chill and talk. Also interior is nothing fancy, kind of like a mini cafeteria, but who cares, food is bomb.
