We had been looking forward to eating here all week due to a co-worker recommendation and we saw such wonderful reviews. Unfortunately our experience will not bring us back again. The waitress was pleasant and friendly but she made a mistake verbally listing the ingredients for their California Eggs Benedict special. She included spinach which is what sold me on the special. It didnt include spinach which I asked about and got a bit of a defensive response by what appeared to be a shift manager but said they would put spinach on it or on the side if thats what I wanted. My food had already come 5 minutes later than my husbands and I didnt want us to wait. The spinach wouldnt have helped anyway because the Hollandaise sauce was too thin and extremely lemony, not the usual hint of lemon it should have. The bacon was overcooked and my husband expressed the same observation and that his chorizo was dry. The man who cleared the tables asked if I was still working on it and I said he could take my plate. He also asked if I wanted to take it home and I let him know the sauce was too lemony and overpowered the rest of the flavors. It also appeared the chef avoided our table when he realized we were displeased but visited with with all the other patrons. Im sure they probably have other tasty dishes and their hashbrowns were good. I truly cant believe the head chef tasted the components of his Eggs Benedict before giving his blessing to use them for service. I wanted to just express my displeasure to the restaurant via email but they do not have contact or comments section on their website.

Gets the one star just because I have to. Went here a few weeks ago for a friends bday and had the worst experience ever!! I have heard complaints about the overly aggressive security but experienced it first hand for myself. At the end of the night I tried to use the restroom along with another female guest there. All the other security guards let me through but the last one, who claims he "runs this place" refused us. As we pleaded with him he refused us and told us he didn't give a explicit where we went and to use the restroom outside. He the proceeded to call backup on his walkie talkie to "come get these f****** b******". A security guard comes and I proceed to walk with him, as we are walking across the bar a second security guard decides he is going to come in and start yelling at me that I need to leave. I agree just informing him I was just going to get a napkin for the bar per his boss. He then got upset with me grabbed my arm and twisted it back and began forcing me out( keep in mind I am a 5' 2" 110lb woman). He refuses to let me go and begins pushing me as I'm walking and I almost fall. Eventually as the aggressiveness continues I start to defend myself from this "man" who then slams me into a glass door and starts pushing my friends who are waiting for me at the door (all female) all in all they are too hyped up and need to learn when to use force and when not to. My shoulder still hurts and now pops and Im considering legal action. Epic Fail!!

The only reason my bf and I came here for dinner is we got a 3 course meal from efoodie for 11 bucks each. We only expected it to be average since this place is known for the night life but boy were we wrong. Chips and salsa was DELICIOUS! Seriously probably one of the best salsa Ive had. Appetizer: I got the abondigas soup and it exceeded my expectations boyfriend got a salad which was ya know how salads taste but he liked it. Meal: I ordered the carnitas with rice and no beans while the bf had street tacos and both our meals were fantastic Dessert: okay seriously you have to get their churros! I cant even explain how delicious this thing was. We were so impressed with a freakin churro. It came with ice cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup. The churros were warm and fluffy and not exaggerating it melts in your mouth. I ordered the carrot cake for my dessert course but wish I would of ordered the churros instead.. Drink: I ordered a sangaria since it was happy hour for 5 bucks and Ive only had sangaria once before but I was so impressed. Bf tasted it and said it had to the best one hes had yet. Even with the presentation of the drink exceeded my expectations. We left this place happy but most importantly, full. Thanks to efoodie for showing us that matador was more than just a bar. We will be back!

Just asked to have the pre game and got push back by the waitress and manager. The issue was that the manager refused to have the game displayed because the game doesnt start until 30 mins after. Who says that to a customer? Its ridiculous because at a Mexican bar the nonmexican staff is refusing to put on the Mexico vs USA game. When the customer request something lets just say that managers and staff should try their best to find out when and where the game is playing even if the staff doesnt fit the soccer-liking demographics. Also, next time a customer tells the bar tender that they want to close their check, lets not have the waitresses huddle up in front of the customer who is not happy about what just happened and complain about high demanding customers. I really dont think putting on the game and adding subtitles is that complicated (as per the waitress). She didnt get a tip because her response and attitude left much to be desired. We used to love this place but will not be coming back.

I would give this place 3.5 stars on a weekday before 9. We went in with a group of friends at 9:30 PM on a Saturday. We wee quickly greeted by a super nice server who took our drink order and said she would bring out chips. About 10 to 12 minutes later a different server brought a few of us our drinks. They were switching shifts. Then 10 minutes later she came and took our food order. 15-20 minutes later a food runner brought us our food, and we asked for our chips that were never brought out. The chips never came, and we did not see our server again until we were early done eating. We asked about our chips and she said they did not serve chips after 10. We did not see her for another 10-15 minutes when we flagged her down for our bill. They need to work on their transition from restaurant to club mode so that those who regularly enjoy the restaurant dont feel dissatisfied as I do.

Meh... Been there lots of times. Food is ok. Price ok. Last visit, services was bad. Took a bit for the waitress just to take our drink order. Waitress came back like 10-15 mins later said the printer or something had ran out of paper so she had to add more. Then came back like 10 mins later with water, said the drinks were coming about. About 10 mins later, our drinks finally came out... wasnt even a busy time. Later a new waiters took over, old waitress closed our tab. New waitress said we had to leave a credit card with her for our order, keep in kind we in a booth, not the bar. Once we were done for the night, we looked at the bill and notice the waitress had given herself a tip. I guess she wanted to make sure she got Her tip money, and thats why she had asked for a credit card earlier. Disappointed.
