Decor was nice, very nifty feel. Service was OK but not particularly attentive despite there being only one other table in the restaurant. Way below what it should be, food quality wise. I dont know if the chef was lazy or just bad. My blossom roll was not well put together - not tight and cohesive like a good roll should be, and was a sort of lopsided egg shape rather than being round. My chirashi was awful... the rice had been sitting in a pot far too long and the texture was chewy and dry, with glued together parts still holding the shape of the steamer. There was *no* sushi vinegar in it - it was just plain rice. It was so stale and nasty I just left it and ate the other chirashi ingredients... which were also very poor. The tamago was poor, rubbery egg wedges. The fish was well cut but old - the texture was definitely off for the tuna and whitefish. The server did offer to make new rice... but i dont think he either knew how long rice takes to cook, or perhaps he was just offering to get me different rice instead. Either way, not a workable solution as any other ready rice would be from the same batch and so just as bad. That was it - nothing taken off the bill, nothing else offered to make up for the poor experience than a "well let the chef know". A huge dissapointment - I came to SF on a business trip hoping to experience good seafood, and this place was a real let down. Ive had much better sushi experiences eating out in landlocked northern climes and in the middle of the desert.

Meh. That pretty much captures my feelings on my meal there. It was lunch time so I can understand it not being their A game, but was just underwhelmed. I got the Bento box with short ribs/sashimi and my wife got the Bento with the spicy pork/suhi. The meat was probably the best part of the meal but it was definitely well below Soon Korean BBQ in quality, so to me there doesnt seem to be a reason to return. Sashimi/Sushi was pretty bad, but for $9/10 a box I wasnt expecting anything amazing. I think they use fake crab in the california rolls as it was more mayo tasting than anything else. Most of the 5 star reviewers dont seem to be Asian, which to me is a bit of red flag. Id give this one a miss and head to San Mateo if youre craving sushi.

The food here is very mediocre...and unfortunately there is no lagoon view at this particular restaurant, where a lot of the restaurants in this same plaza do... For the price of their food you can find much better sushi in either San Mateo or San Francisco. Their miso soup, IMHO, is on the salty side of things. The sushi/sashimi is okay, but not really great. You would never expect the portions to be large for Japanese food, but since the quality is just okay, I guess I would be expecting a little bit more. Overall I probably wouldnt recommend this place unless you have a huge craving for Japanese food and that you dont want to drive far outside of Foster City.

The food is great but I am discrediting the service! I made an order on the phone and I asked for 8 pieces of sushi for my boss and 4 for me. When I came to pick up the order they were nice and all but I noticed it was very pricey just for the amount I ordered. When they were giving me the order it was soooooooooo much more of what I have ordered. I guess they did not mention on the phone did you want 8 single orders plus 4????? and all they had to say was we have already made it!!!!!! I hate when you cant resolve something like this. Now I have 50 or so sushi just for two people to eat.

This place is a staple in Foster City (where the choices are slim). They have good sushi menu, bento lunches and you can sit outside on the deck near the water. food: B+ service: A ambiance: A favorite dishes: chirashi bowl, 49er roll Can get crowded at lunchtime on a nice day so arrive a little early for no wait.

Good food, service and atmosphere. Its near the water and has few tables outside which is also nice. Decent prices as well. Id definitively recommend it and/or go again.

Food quality is great. The sashimi is very fresh and tasty. The Yaku ramen is delicious as well. A bit under-staffed for dinner time. Have to wait quite long to be seated.

Decent Japanese food with a couple of good vegetarian options. They have a vegan bento box that is pretty good. Its in a great setting with some views of the lagoon.

The sushi was rather sticky and the sashimi was cut too thinly. Otherwise the tonkatsu for the Kobe bento was pretty good.
