One star is too many. My wife and I went in Saturday night for dinner. We hadnt been in for a while and my wife mentioned mashed potatoes, and it seemed like a reasonable place to get some. We didnt have a reservation, but the wait was quoted at 35-40 min. It wasnt even 35 which was a pleasant surprise. We got seated. We ordered. My wife ordered hot tea and I got lemonade. The hot water wasnt even hot enough to steep the tea bag, and I didnt get a straw. Our salads arrived, but we had no utensils. The person who bought them (not our waitress) immediately noticed this and said hed get some. I asked for a straw. He came back with utensils and no straw. However, someone else showed up a few moments later with a straw. Id had the drink on the table for 25 min waiting for a straw (Id texted someone as I sat down so figuring out the timestamp was easy). He disappeared too quickly for me to get the hot tea sorted out. The drink was now rather icky, the ice melted. I figured Id get another/refill shortly. We ate our salads and our plates were cleared by others. Our Waitress didnt come back to see us. She was quick to service the table next to us, and my wife said she was working a party behind me... but she never stopped to check on us. The two gentlemen behind us got their food. We figured ours would be coming shortly. As sat there waiting, I realized how loud the music was. My wife and I were across from one another in a 2 person booth and we couldnt talk without being really loud. It was impossible to hold a conversation at a level that wouldnt be so loud as to disturb other diners. I tried to flag down a manager who was frequently attending to a large party to my left, but he never acknowledged my wave nor made eye contact. I wanted a fresh lemonade and to try and get my wife some hot water. Another 30 min or so after getting my straw, our waitress poked up behind me and asked "how is it", but realized we didnt have any food for me to respond about. Before I could respond that we had no food, I needed a refill and how about some hot water for the tea, she disappeared. While waiting another 10 minutes, I made one last attempt to flag down the manager who kept checking on the large table next to us before we gave up. I estimated the cost of the tea, lemonade and salads at less than $20, so I left a $20 on the table and we walked out.

My partner and I dined with two local friends at the Claim Jumper in February 2013 while visiting Concord. We had a pleasant evening such that we intend returning in October when back in Concord for a reunion. The menu was sufficiently varied for a range of tastes and the prices reasonable. The food was well prepared and enjoyable. The staff who served us were pleasant, courteous, attentive, helpful and cooperative. What significantly contributed to making a memorable evening was that we asked for somewhere quiet where we could talk without shouting and having to repeat ourselves to be understood. We were shown to a secluded booth away from the main dining area which worked out very well. Furthermore, the background music was set at a reasonable volume such that it did not impede our having conversation at a normal level. It is a pity that so few restaurants realize that background music ought to be just that: background. One should not have to scream a conversation, to be heard across the table by ones dining partners, above the blast of music and the deafening din of other diners also talking at the top of their voices to be heard by others barely a few feet away. We hope that the Claim Jumper maintains its standards.

Was told that my takeout order would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived 30 minutes later. My takeout order still not ready. Told they were a little backed up, but that my order would be ready in a few minutes. 45 minutes later, my takeout order was still not ready. Was told that the order would be ready in just a few minutes. 55 minutes later, I bolted for the counter, and asked about my takeout order. Still not ready. I asked for my money back. They said, my order would be ready any minute now. No way. I no longer believe anything these people at Claim Jumper in Concord told me. I received full credit, and left to go to another restaurant. Sorry Claim Jumper, but you should not be telling people their order will be ready in just a few minutes when this is not true. I will never eat at your place ever again.

Huge portions, Best Mudslide mountain chocolate dessert very rich! The Claim Jumper has a Gold Rush feel to it. Wood paneling, century-old photographs, even an old moose head. Their menu has other things besides steak n eggs, though: Cheeseburgers, pizza, sandwiches, chicken, calzones, seafood, pies. The quality is pretty good, but mostly you pay for the amount of food you get, not an awesome taste or creative use of ingredients. notable menu items: # Shoestring french fries, seasoned # Blue cheese wedge, chopped # Widow-maker burger (a fork, knife, and 5-napkin burger its that juicy # Parmesan Crusted Chicken or Gold Rush Chicken (even half portions are very filling) # Strawberry Lemonade # Tri Tip sandwich # Salmon # Snickers cheesecake, if you still have room for dessert Looks like a Saloon on the outside.

I just love the staff and this restaurant. The food and service is excellent. I would give it a 6 star if that range was available. Kevin, Rachel, Andrew, Jen, Rayann and Jaime are awesome. I work with customers throughout the week and the customer service that the employees i mentioned is exceptional. I just wish we could clone them so they could be available to work for and among more establishments I frequent. The food is excellent. The ambiance is perfect. I am so glad i became a member there is some nice perks that come with this. The managers make you feel like a vip , acutally the servers make you feel like a Vip. Everybody is taken care of. To one of the best and maybe the best restaurant i have ever been to in Northern California. Keep up the great work!! Very happy customer. Irene

Pros: Great atmosphere, nice staff and management, clean bathrooms, food is good when made correctly and they play oldies. Cons: Busy location with long wait times even during the week (even when theres plenty of seating available), multiple order errors. Parking spaces are small. People with new cars will be nervous to park here. My family and I have been here 3 times. Each time there was serious order errors or food was served inedible. See my photos of the sopping wet Pizza! (Dont take my word for it). I had to order something else and they didnt charge me for it but my family was waiting for me to eat and it kind of ruined the evening.

At first felt as though it would be a great experience hostesses were friendly and energetic. Place was busy for lunch because of a coaches clinic however was able to order drinks fast. Now comes the bad part people who sat after us received drinks before we did even getting their food order placed before us. Many of the staff just walked past our table not asking if we needed anything. After speaking with the floor manager however things got better she was very understanding. My 3 star rating isnt because of poor food just to say there is room for improvement. The food was great other then the lack of Cesar dressing on my salad.
