Read this to get a real experiance from this "resturant" First things first, my sister and i came here because we really wanted some good sushi, and by all the reviews this place got I was like okay! High rating, hardly any complaints, lets go! We got here about 5ish and the place was a little small but there was a list where you could write your name and wait to be called. My sister wrote her name and we didnt mind the wait because I wanted to give this business a chance, and I mean if it had that many people, it must be good sushi. We left next door for about 5 minutes. We came back and our name was crossed off. We waited about 20 minutes until a hostess came up to seat someone, and I asked him kindly "someone crossed us out, and I was wondering why of we just left for a couple of minutes?" Turns out some random girl, said she was "Angelica" (my sisters name) and they sat her down, the hostess did go up to her but that was it, nothing big, he came back and wrote "not yet" next to our name. We were like "alright, lets just wait for them to call us" there were about 6 people ahead of us. An hour later, they finally get to our name and we are thinking! Hey okay we are going to be called "Angelica, 2 for one table", the hostess comes back and SKIPS OVER US! Calling the the girls behind us (2 for one table), we decide to wait again, he comes back and calls another person and then another. Finally we got fed up and left. Horrible Experience, I will NEVER EVER come back here again! High rating? HA!!!!!!!! Low service. I dont care. Dont recommend anyone coming here, not after this experience. Im about to make a drive to another sushi place, hopefully that will help me erase this horrid experience.

Ojiya is the all around best japanese restaurant in southern california. Lunch time is the best time to go. Prices range from 8 to 15 dollars for very high quality, authentic japanese food. Two entree combos are 8.95 and 3 are 11.95 with awesome choices. Some of the choices are extra charge, like sea bass is an extra 3 dollars, or 4 piece sushi is an extra dollar which is within very reasonable range. One of my favorite things to order is the Oyakodon for 7.95. Ive been eating here for about 3 years now and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. The service is amazing and the staff is extremely nice, especially Lanny. Be advised, this place is pretty small and is usually packed with regulars so expect to wait during busy hours like peak lunch (12-1pm) and dinner (6-7pm). Dinner is a little more pricey but still reasonable when compared to other places with prices ranging from $12-18. I have been to other places that have a fresher and tastier sushi but unless your rich and can afford spending $100 per person per week, this is a great place to come to. Its cheap for me to eat here about twice a week without breaking the bank (im a student) so Ojiya is great for me. Hope to see you here soon!

After hearing so many compliments about this place, I gave it two tries. First time I just ate a variety of sushi since the special sold out within minutes. My most recent visit, I had the Udon/ California roll/ salmon sushi + another sushi for 8.50? This is a great deal if you are looking to just eat something for lunch. For a quality meal I do not recommend this place. I think the great reviews are for its lunch special menu, however the fact that they only limit this first 15 dishes is kind of ridiculous. 15? That gets sold within probably the first 30 minutes. The sushi is mediocre. If you are looking for quality sushi, dont go here. If you work around the area and you feeling sushi for lunch, this might be a good choice. It was pretty slow service too. The couple that ordered two specials next to me ate and left while I was waiting for my special plus sushi.

Really fresh sushi! The ambience is wonderful! Its very cozy but they make the most of the space. Service is quick and attentive! I had the pleasure of enjoying the sashimi teishoku! It was very fresh and tasty, definitely one of the best that Ive had in socal I also got to try the Seabass Miso Yaki and it was cooked perfectly! This is a definite must have if you come here! It does cost an extra $5 but its totally worth it Definitely a place Ill be coming back to in the future! The place gets pretty packed quick so be sure to get here early if you want to be seated right away. Just to give you a sense , the place will fill up within 20 minutes of opening. I went on a Wednesday and it still got packed in very quickly So prepare to wait if you go during a typical dinner time

This is my familys favorite restaurant - the hot food is fresh and tasty (never tried sushi though). The place used to post a written statement in the waiting area stating that they avoided using preservatives in their food, which was refreshing and assuring and I certainly hope that they are continuing that tradition. We tried 3 other nearby Japanese restaurants and the food quality and flavor is not in comparison. The only downside is the waiting time because the place is small - usually around meal time there is a long line, so need to plan ahead.

Good miso soup. Good udon. Great Tempura. Okay value for their 8.50 lunch special. Sushi is okay as well..the albacore is a little grainy. Good service but turned off by waiter telling us not to eat the nacho we bought from their neighbor Taco Mora, in their place. Waiter tells me its the law. I tried to reason that there is no such law..she pointed to their door sign warning. I also pointed out that me and my wife are ordering lunch for two... I just let it go. Will return maybe once the embarrassment settles down. ha ha ha

I came to this restaurant in hopes of eating really good sushi according to Yelp and Google I waited for over an hour to be seated, they skipped me 3 times it was bs and the stupid hostess skipped me even after I had had told him Someone cross my name off, he put a note on the side that said I hadnt been called but even after his own note he still skipped me if I could give a negative star rating it would be -5 stars. Needless to say I am never ever going to come to this place again.

Love coming to this place, small little restaurant that has great food and fast service. They are known for their special sea bass, which you must try at least once. And the sashimi is as fresh as it can be and a good size of sashimi. Just a little advice usually the restaurant fills up, within the first half hour once they open for dinner . The food is great and the wait is worth it if you do not come early enough .

So I really like this place. It has an A rating from CA health dept so thats very important. Also the food is very fresh. Im a picky eater but the crisp on the chicken teriyaki, the fluffy moist rice etc and large portions make this my quick go to spot. Its close to where we stay when were in town and has an extensive menu and friendly staff. The sushi is also excellent btw!
