My family and I have been eating at Ookas for over 5 years now we go there for the hibachi, we actually eat there once a week. Last time we ate there we were very disappointed not in the food but the hibachi chef, he was not our chef either he was at the next table he is new and the hostess suggested next time we eat there to request him as a chef, in sitting there listening to him I was disgusted at the things he was saying, up until this point I considered this a family atmosphere but not anymore, the chef was asking a 7 and 8 year old boy where there girl friends were, they did not think that was funny and either did their parents, the chef was also taking lines from movies that were vulgar like "me love you long time" and so many other inappropriate things, I could go on an on but I wont, If this is the route that Ookas is going to go we are not going to go back, to me from what I saw it was more an adult atmosphere not family thats too bad because their food is awesome. And it has always been a place we enjoyed going as a family and taking people as well. I would be embarrassed to take my friends and family there if we were to ever have a hibachi chef like that

My husband and I, and another married couple came here after church this past Sunday. I have never been to a Benihana, type restaurant, where they cook and serve food right in front of you, but I have always wanted to go. I love japanese food, and the sushi here is outstanding, so fresh and very good. The fried rice is the freshest I have ever taasted and the chow mein noodles were sooooo good, I think its the sauce they use. My grilled seafood, however, was mediocer for the price... they are pretty pricey, so choose wisley. My husband and I got the Lobster, Shrimp, and Scallops for two, small portion of seafood for the price, however, we did get full from the other sides, the sushi and the seafood. Fried Calamari, was tough. We had a very entertaining and wonderful Chef! I will be coming back here again!

the places ambience was great! food was bomb. my family went there for my sis and bros bdays and we enjoyed the food so much. price was average. im a culinary arts student and i would say the restaurant all in all was just practical. im only giving 4 stars its because when we came there,it was our first time. the server didnt care telling us what their menu was or what he could suggest for us to order. we just kept on calling him everytime we asked something. we were a party of 7, how could he not prioritize us? and there were not a lot of guests during that time. btw,i just knew that ooka has only one resto here in cali, the other 4 are in pennsylvania. so it was great to have such a fine sushi place as ooka =)

Ive never been disappointed at ooka. They have a sushi section and a hibachi section Ive had both and the hibachi is fun but I really love their sushi. The quality is very good and always consistent. The ambiance is lovely too. I highly recommend this place and regularly order the bento box for lunch. Its half price and very filling with a good variety of food. I usually get the salmon teriyaki with steamed rice and it comes with miso soup, salad, potstickers, 3 pieces of sushi, small steamed veggies, shrimp tempura, fried broccoli and some sort of sweet potato thing all for roughly $10. If you havent tried ooka yet trust me its worth it!

The staff and Teppan Chef are laughable at best. The cross-eyed Teppan Chef we had knocked over a beer glass all over a fellow patron and cut him with the glass and doesnt even take the beer off the tab or offer a free replacement. Management is oh-so rude and offered only a $5 coupon for a lunch as a compensation when asked about why we still were charged for the beer the cook spilled and broke. Food was sub par and we rather eat at Akina in Mission Grove where there are real Teppan chefs. Bad mistake on our parts we will eat elsewhere before we go and see a movie at Riverside Plaza.

To truly complete the Kyoto trip, one must try to stay at least 2 nights at a Ryokan, experience to Japanese culture and hospitality, the tradition carry over for hundred of years and still remain, almost like step into time machine, royalty treatment long lost in the now generation, maybe this was the good old day in the old Japan, this Ryokan try their best to make you as comfortable as they can, forget the out side world for a moment, relax and enjoy whats coming to you, I am sure you deserve it

Its fun and great for winter time. The price is high for the amount of meat you get. The service can be hit or miss. Unlimited brunch on weekends is the way to go. Unfortunately, I wrecked myself the night before a planned sojourn, so Ive yet to make it. But the others who did confirmed it was a better deal :)

I Eat more than your average amount of sushi and have been to many high end sushi spots. the teppan i cant speak much for but the sushi bar at ookas is awesome . fresh on wed and fridays . the toro is up there among the best i have had . its priced right for what you get .Best sushi in the I.E. for sure.

Overall I was happy with the food and service. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is that the seats were very close to each other and it was a little hard to manage it. also if your party is small, you will be seated with some other guests, so try to go there with your friends and enjoy the food ;)

I honestly thought the restaurant was going to be like my co-worker described it, but she was wrong about the place. The food portions are very minimal and the prices are too crazy for the food you get at REGULAR places to eat.on The better note, The staff were extremely nice and generous.

Looked forward to dining here for sometime. Great staff. Nice place. Great service. Very good food, not excellent. Soupy polenta with chicken, weird salad that sounded promising (goat cheese, pistachios, pears, instead a bunch of overgrown leaves). Will definitely come back though.

One of my 2 most favorite sushi places in its approximate price range. I have never tried the steak grill side and I have not really explored the Japanese restaurant side because the sushi is so awesome. Good customer service, too.
