OMG La Familia has the best Mexican food ever. It can add up in price (not generally I think it was just cause my brother is 63” 200+ lb construction worker) lol So the taco salad and Chalupa are just incredible. And fooey Im getting hungry thinking about that fried banana chocolate drizzle covered crepe dessert! LOL P.S. I was reading through the reviews and some guy who thinks he knows the area says this area is "one of the less appealing" of Chico. Ive been living off Columbus for about a year now and this area may have used to be a bad neighborhood but it is now simply college students that do a lot of partying. As any college area would. So perhaps this prior reviewer should gain some knowledge of the local area specifically before commenting on its actual status. I rebut that description only because I dont want people to think this area is unsafe for people especially children and our senior citizens. There are no dangerous gangs. And dont say its because of the homeless that makes it unsafe because Ive been out at very early hours of the morning (as Safeway conveniently closes at 2am) and the homeless people are simply benign without intent of malfeasance. In fact there are several college girls and guys not far from my window outside just having a good time. Ive seen many people girls alone guys alone just walking to get to where there needing to go at all different times of the night. That said. Reviews. Specifically proper reviews with accuracy of the surrounding environment are very important to me. Lol so to that surrounding enviorment posh esque naysayer reviewer. All I can say is. Well thanks for taking a risky chance to come down off that tall horse to Grace us with your captivating presence. Because I guess being less than appealing, well take all we can get even a diamond in the rough type review...pshh..please... Lol

La Familia has delicious food and great service. I ate the Carne Asada dinner that came with rice and beans and they blended really well with the Carne Asada. The chips and salsa were delicious as well and since I like spicier salsa the waitress brought me out some. Dinner was finished off with fried bananas which were amazing, they looked so tasty I did not want to even eat them so I included a picture of them while my girlfriend and I had begun to dug into them. I highly recommend this restaurant! Ive also eaten the Pupusas before and they are very flavorful.

Friendly staff. Intimidating menu made easy for an English speaker. Located in a strip mall and everything i hoped for. I got the large waffle cone. She let me pick 3 flavors to put in it! Even with that many, i would have to come back 10 times just to try everything that appealed to me! I wound up getting sweet potato, a cinnamon tortilla in a sweet cream (i cant remember the Spanish word), and pumpkin. I paid about $5…a little less than the Cold Stone Creamery or other popular ice cream spots. Worth every penny! Save 35¢ by paying with cash.

Our second time here within 2 weeks, March 10, 2012. We went back to try the Menudo on Saturday. My husband had the menudo and I had the chile verde, both were excellent. And again the service was very good. We were greeted when we came in the door and the server was very attentive, helpful and cheerful. We will definitely go back.

Located in one of the less appealing areas of Chico, just off of Nord Avenue, this place is a gem. The staff are so kind and accommodating. Every dish that Ive had here is stellar and made fresh. I highly recommend the taco salad, as you will be full and happy by the end of the meal.

Delicious Mexican food that is truly a treat for my tastes. Chile Verde is off the hook. Rice and Beans are consistently always as good as I could ever expect. Chicken tacos and enchiladas are also delicious. The service is always prompt and courteous. A great family restaurant.

La Familia Restaurant has a great menu! Hooray fish tacos! This truly is the best salsa in the State, no question. Not only is their food delicious the atmosphere is very friendly and cozy. The service is excellent too, no waiting here!

Tasty food (love the papusas), but some of the entrées seem a little expensive for strip mall Mexican food (e.g. $11.50 for a cheese quesadilla with sides of rice & beans). Extra fee for credit card transactions
