I went with my wife and two elementary age children. Food was great for adults, good for kids; service was OK. The vegan-Mexican cross on the food was great. I had a posole and taco salad. Both were thoughtful dishes, with core elements plus a little extra. The posole had a well-favored mix of beans and cornmeal, plus regions of the soup with complementary veggies, such as red cabbage, or onions. I ordered the taco salad with a soy-potato filling which was well-favored and made the dish more satisfying than a typical salad. I just wish that the soup came in a small size. The kids had a taco and a quesadilla, with typical sides. They ate the main part. The restaurant doesnt seem to have anything to keep kids busy, although the salsa bar was a good distraction. Service was a bit slow at times. We were seated quickly, but the servers seemed behind on cleaning tables, so things like refills took longer than I expected.

Grand expectations since many nice reviews. YET, big disappointment!! Their web site says "free beer Wednesdays" (with purchase of a meal; one meal= one beer). BAIT AND SWITCH!! We were told that they dont do that anymore??! Why is it on your website then, I ask. "...owner too lazy to remove it..." Really?! Three of us had dinner there. Two ordered the chile relleno dinner which arrived at our table LESS THAN LUKE WARM. We were the only customers in the restaurant at that time. (4:30pm) Are their chill rellenos frozen then microwaved? It appears so. My verde pork was good. Overall, 2 stars. Not recommended. No second chances. Lost our trust.

Very busy on a week night. Pleasant service. Food was very tasty. Was surprised that my vegetarian taquitos were loosely folded in a flour tortilla since corn tortillas tightly rolled are the only way theyve been prepared whenever Ive eaten them at every other Mexican restaurant. Filling was tasty but fried flour tortillas are unappealing to me. Seemed more like mini-chimichanga to me. Margaritas are smashing. Drink a few of those and you dont fret about menu aberrations.

I went to EL PAPAGAYO S I ate an El Gordon ! It was nice space was homey and ppl were friendly ! Only thing I didnt love was the place close much too early Sacramento gotta start thinking eateries open until atleast till 3pm ! Its a Big city now like L A -well almost ! If they can just keep it open Thurs- Sat ! Until 2 that would be great ppl go to sleep too early in Sacramento CA! But all and All Food was so good ----Ill be back there in a week or 2 !! Yummy!!!

Order the vegan taquitos! All the sides are amazing, the salsa bar is amazing (especially the mango cucumber salsa) they have so many vegetarian options for their burritos and theyre all so good. All the staff are friendly, the prices are fair and the interior/atmosphere might be the best part. I cant say enough good things about this place , the food is amazing and Ive been going for years.

I was swayed by reviews to drive out of my way to this restaurant and was not impressed. I ordered a chicken burrito wet. It was cold....gross. The sauce on top was cold as if they had it sitting on the counter. The atmosphere was nice and the chips and salsa were good. My daughter ordered a quesadilla and my husband ordered a carne asada platter - they said their food was fine.

When Im back in Sac I make it a special point to try and come here. The vegan menu is amazing, I especially like the mole plate. My omnivorous friends and family like their food, too. The workers are friendly and you wont have to wait long for your meal. Its a great laid back place to grab some dinner.

El Papaguayos has wonderful sauces. The red, green, and mole enchilada sauces are delectable. The salsa bar has a great mango and cucumber salsa and a green salsa to die for. From vegan to carnivore to habanero fish or shrimp the food makes your mouth and stomach happy.

Live this place! The owner is so sweet and makes great recommendations. I also love their margaritas, and the salsa bar. This is also one of the few places I know that has a decent vegetarian selection, rather than just one or two items. Good for everyone!

All you can eat vegan taco Wednesdays, as if that isnt enough to keep me coming back. They have one of the best vegan menus in the area and are quick, friendly and very reasonably priced. Im huge into flavor and this place is packing it. Love this place.

Absolutely DELICIOUS food!! Staff is extremely friendly, the atmosphere has a very authentic feel, MANY vegan options! :) Nice large portions at a VERY good price, fast service, couldnt ask for a better place to come for lunch! Highly recommend :)
