Bella Bru Cafe offers a very pleasant, laid back atmosphere, delicious cakes and pastries and quality food. This was my second visit here, but last time I just grabbed a piece of cake to go. Since this is my first real sit down, Ill summarize my experience. First things first, Bella Bru does not pretend to be low priced so I wont hold price against them in my rating. That said, it cost me about $26 for a piece of Carrot cake and a French Dip sandwich for lunch that included a small mixed green salad. Personally I have a hard time letting go of that much money for 1 person to eat lunch. That said, the service was very friendly and atmosphere is is very nice. The French Dip sandwich was very tasty and had a nice presentation. I was also very happy that the Au Jus was not overly salty like some places. The salad however that came with the sandwich was a bit disappointing. The salad was only just a few bites of mixed greens and shredded carrots with balsamic salad dressing. The dressing is very tasty but there was way too much for such a small salad. (May have just been an accident that too much was put on it.) Where the meal really shines is the Carrot Cake. Their carrot cake and their cakes in general based on my prior visit, are very delicious. You wont be disappointed in in their desserts. To sum things up, if price doesnt matter; then Bella Bru is a great choice. The food was good, the service and atmosphere were very pleasant, they have a full bar and the dessert was amazing. Maybe ask for light salad dressing or salad dressing on the side, but otherwise I would recommend giving them a try.

I will no longer be going here for dinner. They are unfriendly to vegans and getting more so with each menu change. I highly recommend vegans go elsewhere. I asked about vegan options tonight and was told maybe a salad. In the past you could get a veggie sandwich at least. Now that is no longer an option. When our waitress offered to check with the chef he said he could maybe do a salad or maybe grill a few vegetables but they really did not have anything there for vegans. We opted to leave and instead go down to Matteos where I was able to get a vegan sandwich or choose from other options that were or could be made vegan. Those were not options at Bella Bru. Needless to say that after being a loyal customer for many years (we have lived in the area for over 35 years) I will no longer be going there. It seems like they are going backwards. Most restaurants are offering more diverse dietary options and Bella Bru is choosing to eliminate them. I also highly recommend El Papaguyo for vegans as they have a large and diverse menu. Bella Bru fails to understand that there is a large vegan community in the area and they apparently opt not to serve them. .

Had a waitress named Emily g. She was incredible and made our night seem like we were at a 5 star Hotel!!!! She was awesome and I could go on and on, but long story short. I am picky and order things with exceptions to the menu and she got everything perfect the FIRST time! Never had an empty glass and food was excellant and very prompt. I have been to this location many times in the past and wasnt impressed, but Emily Changed Everything! I cant wait to go back next week!!! I would hire her to run my company if I could. This girl has it Going On!!!

This location should take some advice from the Natomas location. Came in today around at 3pm. Wasnt busy at all. All staff was chit chatting and having a good time without any awareness of new customer. So I sat myself. Ten minutes later, no greeting. Asked a staff member that walked by if they were serving tables. He asked if I need to be waited on, I said yes. He walked away and talked with another table for 5 minutes. What a shame, I was looking forward to a great meal.

Always great coffee! Java city coffee beans make delicious coffee and Bella bru always has the Columbia light roast that I love every day! ( I think everyday lol) pastries are superb and I just had the vegetable pizza last week or so and it was " the bomb" ( really great and for those who say they dont have a lot of vegi options , you gotta be kidding me!) so anyhow over all great coffee and food n service. For at least ten years right !?

This was my first time at this restaurant. I was told they did an excellent cinnamon roll. However my roll was cold and unimpressive. I wasnt given a letter for my breakfast order then a server tried to blame me for not asking for a letter that I didnt know I was supposed to get. My food was lost then delivered cold and overcooked. The bacon was crisp and delicious. That is literally the only reason I gave even one star.

I order the steak salad with candied walnuts to go. When I got home. I opened it up, there was no bread, there was some butter. The salad had 5 strips of steak, 3 walnuts, some asparagus, lots of lettuce, a couple rings of onions. There was some blue cheese. The dressing was just a lot of olive oil. My wife had told me that this was the best salad. I dont think SO!

What a wonderful local cafe. Bella Bru has been my go-to coffee shop ever since I have lived in Carmichael. I really like the homey ambiance and the friendly staff. I come here for coffee, lunch, occasional dinners, events, and also for special event cakes. The manager here is especially friendly and always SO so happy and nice. Great job team!

I just had the vegetable pizza last week or so and it was really great and for those who say they dont have a lot of vegi options , you gotta be kidding me! Great coffee and food and service. We have been eating here for breakfast every week for a year. The last few months something has changed the omelets are not as good, a the ham in the omelets are chopped in tiny little pieces and today my cheesy potatoes the plate was so hot but the potatoes were cold and my husbands omelet had cheese that was not even melted.

Ive been coming here for years for the luscious food! Its kind of my home away from home. Great service from friendly, helpful staff. Alvin is fantastic!! Come here if you want a great meal, happy, helpful staff and nice diners to chat with.

Almost didnt eat here because of the reviews. I had the Pesto Rubbed Chicken sandwich and the asian chicken salad. The sandwich was perfect with a little side salad. The asian chicken salad very flavorful and the portion is enuf for 2!

A few years ago id have given them more stars. The menu has become less veggie friendly. Changed their menu and decor again. Keeps it interesting. To many times weve had problems with the food. Under cooked, foreign objects, etc.
