Im going to chock up our poor experience at coast cafe to timing. We were late lunchers after camping in Point Reyes and they seemed to close for the middle part of the day so the wait staff was punchy and short with us. Then the food came and I was actually surprised by how bad it was. The veggie burger was the most tasteless burger Ive ever had with an awful processed bun, wilted toppings and pretty terrible fries (how do you mess up fries?). I paid $2.25 for avocado on this veggie burger and felt jipped but the 3 tiny slices of avocado I got. To sub a salad instead of fries was $3, plus a ridiculous split plate charge if you wanted to share. The people in our group that got eggs were equally as unimpressed. The one thing Ill say we enjoyed was the garlic and barbecue oysters.

Keep on driving unless youre starving. After a long hike along the coast this was the closest place to eat, but we would have been better off continuing on to Stinson Beach at least. The service was friendly but seemed rather frazzled. The food was pretty lackluster: I had some pretty bland fish and chips with soggy coleslaw and our appetizer of calamari was nothing special either. The prices were also quite high: $17 for the fish and chips that were barely worth half that. This is the kind of place that survives by overcharging travelers for mediocre food; pass it by if your stomach can hang on for a few more miles.

Really great food here. We had the lamb shepherds pie and the seared ahi tuna. Both were delicious. Particularly impressed with the variety of greatly prepared vegetables -- not just your standard overcooked broccoli, but kale, mushrooms, broccolini, brussels sprouts, etc. All wonderfully fresh and wonderfully prepared. When we went back the next day we intended to have breakfast for lunch, but they had gotten fresh fish in that morning and had the fish and chips they had been out of when we had been there for dinner, so we both had the fish and chips. Delicious! Youll never want frozen fish and chips again!

Have had a nice time the two times I have been there, but because of the time it takes to drive to Bolinas from east bay and inevitable appropriate break in the actions of the day when we are ready for lunch, its a rush to get there by 3. I have wanted to go here multiple times right around 3 pm. Why not stay open through the lunch hours into dinner? Id love to come and have a beer right now. But alas, you close inexplicably for two hours. BLT I had was good. As was the bacon waffle.

The service had a slightly negative vibe: our waitress yelled at the food runner for delivering food to the wrong table. She ceased to take our order when there was confusion about what we were ordering, and she simply left. One bathroom was out of order. In terms of the food, I had an eggs benedict which was nothing special and super pricey for what it was. All in all, not a place I would go back to but not the most terrible experience I have ever had.

Lazy cooking by a chef whose heart simply isnt in it anymore. Kale salad was vastly overpriced for what it was, and the beets were canned not fresh (unexpected for a place like Bolinas). The huevos rancheros was very basic, again all canned ingredients not fresh. Very sloppy. Really surprised by the reviews, if management cared more it could be an amazing eatery, but they have to make an effort.

Vegan friendly! Group friendly, too. (We had ten in our party; calling for a reservation that afternoon.) The atmosphere is more like an upscale tavern than a cafe. Its clean with a nice down-to-earth feel about it. Everything about this place was much better than average. Im so glad we took the time to eat here instead of staying in Stinson Beach.

We hit this place upon our bicycle tour 2005. We have heard so much about this little city. There are places you might get reminded on an old western town. We enjoyed great food and drinks. Friendly staff. Even it is true, the have removed the city limit sign in order to mislead tourists, just come to see and disturb local peoples privacy ...

Careful how you order here. Unstated menu price for fish and chips was quoted as $20 - must be the highest in the Bay Area. Sounded promising with halibut instead of the normal cod etc. On serving received three small (fish finger size) overcooked, dried out pieces of halibut and soggy fries - not good value for money !

The only reason Im giving it two stars is because the people were kind. This was the WORST food I think I have ever had. The clam chowder was tasteless. The salad was nothing but lettuce and dressing. The clams were very small. If you are not a local, do not waste your money. You are better buying a can of Campbells chowder.

We ate here our first night of a week-long stay in Bolinas. The hostess advised us we needed a reservation to sit inside, but we could sit outside and they would bring us blankets. We all ordered something different--fish tacos, BLT, gumbo, meatloaf, enchiladas. Everything was delicious and we kept warm with the blankets.

There is not a lot of choice in the Bolinas area but we had a great experience at Coast Cafe. The place is cozy and offers good meal at a reasonable price. Great place for fish and seafood. The brunch option is also pretyy good. There is an outside area. The staff is pretty nice.

Great atmosphere and food selection. We stayed at Smileys Saloon across the street and this place completed our evening with a convenient and tasty dinner. My only recommendation would be for them to narrow down the menu a little. They might benefit from more specialization.

I just finisher dinner. Sat at the bar. Very friendly service. The house special flounder was like Chateaubriand. Lots of colorful and delicious vegetables. Desert for me was an ice cream Sunday. Music started at 6pm. Couldnt have been nicer.

Quaint, friendly, relaxed, great staff super efficient; we got the fish & chips which was delicious but pricey at $20 but I guess ok since it was super fresh & locally sourced. Such a charming little nook of a place, quaint indeed.

They have great seating both inside and outside for large parties. Their food was great especially their oysters. They also had great vegetarian options. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

The bread at the beginning and the oysters were the only parts of the meal we enjoyed. Grossly overpriced and the fish tacos made us all sick. I wanted to like this place but i felt incredibly ripped off...

Super peaceful simplistic friendly place, the food was maybe the best sea food Ive ever had and the place setup fantastic. Great spot! I hope to be able to be back soon!

Tasty good but definitely comes at the cost of small town service and slowness. Dont expect a quick bite to eat- but instead go for the laid back ambiance.

There arent a lot of options in Bolinas, but this one gets the job done. Nice atmosphere and friendly service!

A cozy little restaurant in the middle of Bolinas with decent food and a good place to have a beer and relax.

Good food in a homey atmosphere. The collection of vintage surfboards and fishing gear is fun to look at.
