Genwa is fantastic! My husband loves Korean BBQ, but Im not a huge fan. So it took a special occasion to get ourselves here. We were lucky to find street parking not too far away - valet is $6. There was also quite a lengthy wait - over 30 minutes. But the food that followed was so superlative that it made the wait totally worth it! We kept it simple and ordered combo A for the two of us - the mains were prime galbi and bulgogi chicken. The combo also came with japchae, soon tofu, brown rice, gyerinjjim (Korean steamed egg that was bubbling as it reached us!), house salad and wait for it....26 types of banchan! (Yes, I counted!) Honestly, I couldve spent the entire meal sampling the banchan; plus we had a wonderful server who explained the various dishes to us and brought us second and even third helpings of our favorites (our faves were the fish cakes, dried calamari and the little savory pancakes whose names I do not know) Just we were beginning to feel full, the meats arrived! Ordinarily, I wouldve wondered how 2 meats would fill us up, but I hadnt counted on the unlimited banchan and other sides. While the bulgogi chicken arrived already cooked, our server pretty much did most of the work while grilling the prime galbi at our table. The galbi was the juiciest, most tender meat I have ever eaten (probably one of the fattiest too, but when it tastes as great as it did, I dont really care!). The bulgogi chicken was good too, but everything paled in comparison to the galbi! Honestly, the meal was enough to warrant a five star rating, but they went above and beyond with service that treated us like royalty, and the nice touches at the end - the sweet rice tea (totally regretting that I didnt ask for more!) and the foot-shaped lollipops! Genwa is definitely pricey (the meal came to $80 with tax and tip, and no drinks or dessert) , but I cant think of a nicer place to celebrate a special occasion!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. Pricey, though in line for most Korean BBQ spots, but DE-LICIOUS. The wait staff are mostly men and GORGEOUS. Go just for the eye candy. Sweetness on the eyes and sweetness in the belly. Doesnt. Get. Any. Better. Than. That. Hee. Hee. They brought my young daughter unlimited kim and bap, which she loves, along with kid size and geared plates, chopsticks, etc. A banchan heaven, as the amount of sides are INSANE. Like Crazy Eddie. Insane. You have to be of a certain age bracket to know what Im referencing, unless thats on vintage rewind like so many things. Everything looked and tasted beautiful, including the dessert. My daughter likes the purity of ice cream without the pomp and circumstance, so they were nice enough to bring her pure ice cream. ; ) To top the sweetness of the evening, a colored flower lollipop was distributed to all of us ladies. It was all ladies for the evening in our party. I would definitely go to this place over and over. I am dreaming of it now even as I write this... ; ) [Bonus: the valet is cheapest I have ever seen... I think I remember $5 or something like that...]

The reviews were not lying when they said youd have seemingly endless sample dishes. I had the galbi for lunch and it was seasoned well, grilled quickly, and I left smelling only slightly of Korean BBQ. The banchan (sample dishes) were quickly filled when my friend or I finished them and it was usually filled with twice the amount. The staff are friendly, competent, and dont hover over the meal trying to obsessively cook your BBQ. I dont think it quite lives up to the hype as the best Korean BBQ place in LA, but its definitely worth the lunch prices.

The valet guys were so nice and welcoming. The restaurant was filled with people and sort of warm because each table has a enclosed cooking grill for you to cook your meat the way you want it. DELICIOUS!!! LUV Korean BBQ. Our friends ordered the food and the waiter came out with around 25-30 small 3 inch round dishes filled with different tasty sides. We had warm Sake which made us even more warm...didnt mind because it was cold outside. Waiters gave us each 2016 daily calendar. Im a fan.

This is my go-to bibimbap place! For a decently cheap price, they not only give you the sizzling stone bowl of bibimbap, but also a bowl of seaweed soup, a bowl of spicy noodle soup, and a bowl of kimchi soup. There are also a lot of really good small side dishes. They have literally one of the best bibimbap Ive ever had with really buttery bowl that sizzles till the very end and every bite of it tastes so flavorful. Unfortunately, anything else besides the bibimbap choices are very mediocre.

Ample seating. Friendly staff.I highly recommend the bitmap and Maratha tacos. The bowl of bitmap has an exquisite assortment of vegetables sixteen! and grilled beef. So colorful. I like to think its nutritionally well-balanced. Korean beef with Maratha bread is to die for too. I tend to order these two items rather than the rolls or Paganini. I have not tried to order with an app or online. No line when I visited on a weekday afternoon.

Genwa chain of Korean BBQ places is my favorite. I had never been to this location, but like the others, I have no complaints. They have the best selection of Ban Chan around. They dont skimp like other places and the variety is never ending. The spicy pork is phenomenal and service even better. There is never a shortage of someone to get you a drink or finish cooking your food. They are great with the recommendations.

Food... A foodies heaven, prime cut for all meat, loads to add ons to your BBQ. A quaint place to have a different take at Korean dining. On table grill with food you can chose to cook your liking. And yes a gud quality Soju bottle to go along. Ambience is rich and elegant and servers are nice attentive folks. Go for it. Tad pricey about 55 bucks per person but then gud things often come at a price.

Came here for Mothers Day, with a party of 8. Seated promptly, the wait staff helped us accommodate the kids first (plus!) and then patiently explained the options on the menu. Service during dinner (helping to cook the food) was great, and the sequence and spacing of the individual items was almost impeccable. Great experience all around.

Great food accompanied by excellent service, the waiter recommended us a course of food for 2 persons and we tried to order more food but he nicely explained us that it was already lot of food (while many waiters just push you to order more food). Everything was delicious and at very good prices. Highly recommended!

This is the most expensive Korean place I have ever been to: $32 for a regular sized plate of bulgogi. Anyone who gave a 5 star probably enjoys to pay for overpriced average Korean food at this restaurant. Service was great but you can get cheaper and better Korean BBQ in LA Korean town or Seattle or in Korea.

Luxury Korean BBQ. Great food, beautiful place, excellent service. Clean and less greasy than typical Korean restaurants. They give you an unbelievable assortment of appetizers and condiments which lets you sample lots of great stuff. Expensive, but worth it.
