My friend and manager talked up this place like if it was the greatest thing ever. My 1st year anniversary came around and thought this would be a good spot. I really didnt know what i was expecting, atmosphere, food quality, elegance, etc but i was really disappointed. If you are going to Benihana MAKE SURE you go to the teppanyaki grill instead of the lounge because the lounge was no better than eating at Panda Express. The 5 course meal ($31, in which i counted 4) included a soup which was good, the salad was subpar, the main course was cold and the desert was probably the best part and it was just ice cream. The waiter was polite and looked like he was really busy even though the restaurant was nowhere close to being 30% so i guess they were understaffed. Im guessing the chef prepared all of 5 courses at once the moment we placed our order because by the time we go to our main course it was cold, the dipping sauce for the steak was watery and not thick for it to stay on the food. I was embarrassed because it was our 1st year anniversary and eating at Red Lobster the previous week was WAY better for around the same price. Im never coming here again not even for the teppanyaki grill and i would rather go somewhere else, hell even Olive Garden runs circles around this place. Ruths Chris? Forget it, its on a completely different level.

My husband and family took me to benihanas in Scottsdale for my birthday dinner. As much we tried to make the best of it, we had a HORRIBLE experience to say the least. Our server was not attentive at all. She left us without drinks for over 20 minutes at a time. Everytime we asked for a drink it will take her another 20 minutes to get it for us and most of us were just drinking water or iced tea. She would come back to our table with only one drink or two at a time. We ordered an appetizer and received that cold n 30 minutes later. Our chef was ok, but portions were horrible. Because of lack of servers attention he had to go back to kitchen for food we were missing like our brown rice etc. We spent over $300 for this type of service n food. Not once did the manager approach our table after my sister had to go ask for her n her drinks... Again, not a pleasant experience whatsoever! We usually go to benihanas a few times a year but I refuse to go back n encourage all to do the same, unless of course you enjoy bad service accompanied by no food n lots of money down the drain.

We went to Benihana with two kids. The bad service experience started when we came through the door and the computers were down. So we had to wait for 10 minutes until they get their computers fixed, even though we had a reservation and that the restaurant was pretty empty when we came in. When they finally got their computers fixed, they seated two families that arrived to the restaurant after us. However, the worst was still ahead. We informed our waitress that one of our daughters is allergic to sesame and she assured us that they are used to serving people with allergies. The chef did not get that information from the waitress and gave us mushroom sauce (that contained sesame and that our daughter tasted, not knowing whats inside) and sprinkle sesame all over the cooking area while making fried rice. Only after we jumped and told both the waitress and the chef that shes allergic (again) the chef took away the mushroom sauce and cleaned the cooking area.

We went for my grandsons birthday and basically had a below average experience. Tho the chef Nick was present and entertained the kids, the food was way below what we thought would be expected for a high end restaurant. The chef cooked each item, onions, zucchini, mushrooms separately and served then as each item was cooked. Our rice was served and was bland and it took so long for all the other sperate items it was cold by the time we were eating. Each person seemed to be served one but one and the last two, myself and my husband were served long after all the others. 10 people on one side of the grill is alot. There was no room and it caused spills, etc two of the adults were disabled so it was super uncomfortable. I think the chef was very nice and the kids enjoyed his antics but definatly feel the food was not worth the bill we received for two people. No to a return there.

I went here on a Monday night to celebrate my wifes birthday with her. I have to say, everything was timed perfectly and the food was delicious. Getting food hibachi style will require you to obviously sit with another party or two, but that is very normal and each party has their own side conversations anyway, every now and again you might speak to each other, but regardless, you will have a good time. The chefs are very professional, our server was very good at getting everything out the way we hoped, and they treat us very well as their guests. Not sure how long of a wait is normal for this place, but we got right in at 7pm on a Monday night. I would recommend calling before hand to see if they have call-ahead seating or even reservations. We were a bit nervous that we would have to wait a while. 5 star rating for me!

Host was very rude, advised my friend and I that we wpould have to wait for at least an hour or two, then we suggested eating in the lounge or at the bar, the host then said only drinks and sushi were being ordered there. Next we sat at the bar to wait, ordered sushi and then immediately was seated at a table. It took out sushi almost 30 minutes to come out, then when I askeed waitress to check on it she then proceeded to tell me that it would come out when it was ready. we were the only blacks in the resturarant and it really felt like it. No one at our table spoke to us, then when we were leaving out guess what other peoople were sitting in the lounge eatting full course meals. I hate plpaying the race card, but it was clear that we were not welcome here. Will never visit them again!

Starting from the fact that we had to wait 20 twice to be seated, because they wouldnt open table for two of us, to the fact that when Im paying more then a $100 for my meal Im expecting to be walked to my table and seated not picked up on the way while walking a group of strangers over and letting us feud for "good" seats with others that came later then us. I also would expect my server to speak English. But maybe its just me. In addition soups came out cold, food was under salted and tasteless. On the bright side chief had good sense of humor, but then I was not going to a comedy club. Id really suggest taking your business somewhere else.

Fantastic experience! My wife gave me a "You be the Chef" birthday gift and it was phenomenal! Toshi, my trainer, was so patient during my training session and delightful as we prepared dinner for 8 friends and family. The drinks were great, the food was marvelous and the laughter constant. Our server, Fedona was on the spot with all the details - never an empty glass and we had two gluten free friends who were accommodated perfectly with alternative salad dressing and special soy sauce. You cannot go wrong with this if youre looking for a unique gift. Remember to have someone make a video! Hilarious.
