My wife and I came in after a long days work and ordered up a couple $9 plates. For $9 I dont expect the world but I do expect a certain number of calories. What we received looked like childs portions but were served on large dinner plates. A burrito the size of a taco-bell soft-taco is just not large enough. I had cleared my plate within a few minutes and we ran to the nearby McDonalds to finish up. My wife and I are both considered skinny people. I have not quite encountered a restaurant which skimped so much (and I eat out daily)! The waitress didnt seem to care about us, we basically sat ourselves and got back up to find the menus. The place seemed empty around dinner time. I guess that should speak for itself. What a waste of time and money.

We love Mexican food and Rio Rico is our favorite! A friend suggested it a few years ago and it has been our #1 place to eat out. The casual atmosphere and small layout with a great little patio makes it ideal for our 3-year old. We usually sit out on the patio and our son can wander around a bit while we wait for our food. Very family friendly and the food is great. My son will polish off a whole plate of Spanish rice and refried beans. Try the Carnitas if you like pork. Perhaps because the food is made in small batches and fresh, I also dont get that heavy feeling I get after eating in a chain Mexican restaurant. I also like supporting a family run business in my area.

The food is good, my concerns are more about the service. The staff all seem very nice, but I sense they are understaffed and overwhelmed due to some mistakes made during our 2 visits. My 13-year-old son had a margarita placed in front of him, which was a huge no-no. Our check wasnt split -- as was requested twice, and I received a knife with a little crusted food on it. This was all during our second visit. The service was slow at our first visit and the check was not divided then either.

My wife and I stopped in here for some takeout for lunch on our way home from shopping. While it took a bit longer than we wouldve liked to get our food, the staff and service were friendly and very engaging. It was fairly slow and quiet for a Saturday around lunchtime. The food was delicious. I had shrimp fajitas, and the shrimp treated better than any Ive had before. Even better than the shrimp I had on the Mexican Riviera. We loved this place, and plan on going again soon.

Incredible Mexican food! Im originally from Bakersfield CA where all we eat is real authentic Mexican food. So when I moved out here to AZ, I was disappointed by all the Americanized Mexican food until I found Rio Ricos. When my family and I first ate there, we were amazed at the incredible taste of their carna asada burritos. Their meat is properly marinated so lots of juice and flavor comes with every bit! Recommend this place to everyone! :)

We have been looking for a great Mexican food restaurant for a while now, after months of driving by and living across the street, we decided to try Rio Rico, so glad we did because we LOVED it!! The service was quick and friendly, the food was delicious and taste like home made food. Very family friendly, we brought our 10 months old son and felt like family :) We will be going back, again and again!!

My favorite restaurant to take my family to in the East valley. They have the best margaritas I have ever tasted. Over the years I have tried a majority of the menu and I have enjoyed almost all of it. The family/Staff are great people and treat my family perfect. I could not ask for much more... This place is great. The food is awesome. I forgot an item when I ordered to go and the manager had someone deliver it for me. Talk about amazing service, this place bow ranks among my favorite restaurants and will be in the weekly rotation! Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I took our three kids here. They put us in the very back by the bathrooms even though we had passed several open booths. Our server didnt really talk with us much and service was sub-par. I gave three stars because the food was good. Not as family-friendly as I had hoped.

this was the worst Mexican restaurant ever we live in Surprise and went there with our daughter the service was awful food how about boxed tortillas for tacos dont waste your money or time go to Valle Luna wonderful!!!! we had a coupon so what does that tell you never again!!!!

Quality mexican flavors. Tortillas were hand made flavor in the corn Tortillas were amazing. Had the Shrimp Chipotle, shrimp was fresh and the creamy chipotle sauce was perfection. Salsa was on point, though spicy for my taste. Service was courteous. We are coming back.

The food was excellent, the service was wonderful. We had a party of 12 and they were able to accommodate. Everyone in our party was very satisfied with their dish and thought the food was well priced. We would definitely eat here again.

Great family owned restaurant. Nothing fancy just yummy Mexican food. I almost always order the Chicken Mole. My son likes to say, "Rio Rico..They never disappoint." I agree. Very friendly staff with a relaxed atmosphere.

Food was good. Portion size was good. Salsa was good. Chips were stale. Service was so poor that we did want to leave a tip. Had to get up several times to get items that were forgoten (ex. Silverware, napkins).

It was closed to move to a different location. I looked it up online ahead of time and it got decent reviews, but it did not say it was temporarily closed. As I was meeting someone here, it was very frustrating
