As everyone else mentions, great atmosphere. Went on a busy Sunday afternoon around 12:30, only waited about 15 minutes for a table. Asked for a table near the water as it was clean and ready to go as we walked by. The host said she couldnt seat us there because they had triple seated the server already. So we were seated at a severely tilted table, away from the water. Turned around moments later to see the table we requested, occupied by another family. Not only did they receive their drinks before we ever saw our server, but they were through with their meal and gone before we received our check! To add insult to injury, the next party had been seated and was halfway through their cocktails as we were leaving! Our server was friendly and even though they were extremely busy, she refilled our drinks without having to ask. She was fairly attentive and did well for being so busy. Which they were since it took over a half hour to receive our meals once ordered. We enjoy the food here typically. Although we have our favorites, we tried different items today. Hubby had a burro plate, enchilada style with carne asada and green sauce. I ordered the beef fajitas. He ended up with the better meal. Remember those commercials back in the day of "wheres the beef?". This was entirely the case with my $16.99 beef fajitas. 1 large slice, 3 smaller slices and a few scattered broken off pieces (pic is posted). The rest of the sizzling plate was mostly a mound of onions and a few pieces of peppers & 2 wedges of a Roma tomato. Had I wanted onion/veggie fajitas, I would have ordered such. For $16.99, not worth it with so many other choices that we enjoy. No choice of tortillas, just 2 flour. Which I have to admit were really good. A small blob of discolored guacamole on a plate with beans and pico de gallo. Hubbys burrito on the other hand was stuffed with meat. We enjoy eating here and will be back. Flavors are good and our daughter likes to go feed the ducks and turtles. Just wish they were more consistent with the meals. Sometimes its great, whereas this time, if this were our first visit, we wouldnt return.

Lord almighty! What an absolutely horrible restaurant! And in the Sonoran Desert, too. Pathetic. The horrible quality of the food insults the Mexican culture and everyone of Mexican descent. What else can you expect from a Mexican restaurant started by a guy named BILL NELSON???!!!!! You can always tell if the food is good if people of that ethnicity are eating there. True for Indian, Thai, you name it. We did not see one Mexican patron at this place. That should tell you something. As we were seated, we happened to hear that one of the many ducks on the property was nesting inside the restaurant, right by some tables, and instead of doing anything about it, the manager just shrugged her shoulders and looked apologetically at the complaining customer. Then our server, who called herself "Ashley??", like she wasnt sure that was her name, had no idea how any of the food was prepared. We are vegetarians, and sure, you can say what you want about picky eaters, but at least Macayos enchilada sauce is not only delicious, its also vegetarian. AND they dont stuff chili rellenos with chicken and refried beans. I mean, who does that? El Encanto doesnt even batter and fry the flippin things. They literally cut a skinned chili and stuff it with cheese and beans and lay it on top of chicken. Mmmmm... doesnt that sound disgusting? And they serve their NASTY sopapillas with the honey already on it. Ours were wafer thin and burnt. Ew. Add to that everyone elses complaint about the horrible service (it took 40 minutes to get one cheese enchilada), and this is probably the worst Mexican restaurant in Arizona. If I wanted Mexican food that tasted like excrement, Id go to a Californian Mexican restaurant. Shame on you, Bill Nelson (sorry about the cancer, though)!

Bad atmosphere, horrible service, not - so great food. Food worth no where near what the pricing is set at. Portions are fine, but they charge you for chips, charge to request beef instead of chicken (and dont tell you until you receive the check), guac at $2.50 was literally one tablespoon worth. Had to request managers approval for my wife to order the small portion of item with beef instead of chicken. Poor variety in the menu, no clue what everyone raves about. I am not spoiled or uppity, this place was supposed to be a treat for the family, ended up being a complete waste of money and time. Service was pathetic, when a member of the family received their food and it was supposed to come with beans, the server said, "Ya, its got beans" and waited there while he dug around for a lone bean and said, "See, theres beans in it." Oh, do not sit next to the duck pond unless you enjoy the smell of muck, sulphur, and algae...So sad, we were looking forward to going here. I dont like to complain or write poor reviews ever, but I urge you to take your business elsewhere, this restaurant is far from worthy of anything but a single star rating.

Im giving El Encanto 5 stars for a couple of very good reasons. To start off, the ambiance was spectacular, the food was excellent, I came here with my grandfather and he didnt like his Chili, but that was his tastes, I got tacos and I Loved them! They had a great meat taste, it was very cooked, and my grandmother loved her steak, the service at the end was so amazing, since my grandfather didnt like his chili, he gave it back and on the bill there was a note saying Sorry for a deduction price of 7.99, and I thought that was the nicest thing Ive ever seen going to any restaurant Ive ever been to, and that really made my day! :-D So overall, I would recommend this to a lot of my friends who would come down to Arizona! P.S. Our server was Cameron, and he was spectacular, he was very nice, and he was beyond helpful, he was the man who wrote sorry on the bill, so if the people at El Encantos read this, tell Cameron he was such a great person! :-D

Ok, Im ...... TRYING to not be too negative or degrading, but lets just say that we tried 5 different dinners plus 2 appitizers and 2 cocltails and we all just sat there, looked at each other, and laughed!!! Dont get me wrong, the place was quite busy. We had waited an hour to be seated. Hey, no problem. I just cant for the life of me figure out why sooo many people were waiting for THIS FOOD!!! Lets just say that El Encanto was MY IDEA and that I have, as a result, lost ALL priveleges for choosing future restaurants. We did not recieve one item on our table that was nearly as good as the worst Mexican, drive through, food that I have evver had. Even the water had no ice in the glass. In short, if you would like to give this place a try, by all means, knock yourself out!!! No, that wasnt a figure of speach, I MEAN........... KNOCK YOURSELF OUT!!!!!!!!!!

I wasnt to thrilled with the restaurant when my main course came out the food was pretty bland. Dislike that the restaurant charges your extra for rice. Any other Mexican food restaurant your rice and beans are included in your meal. The food wasnt as bad as the SERVICE. We got a girl named Misty. She never checked on us. She would come out and serve other tables look at us and walk away. We had to ask 2 other waiters to refill our drinks. Never asked if we would like to add dessert in which we would have. She got out bills completely wrong and didnt care about us at all. She looked like she didnt want to even be at her job. My advice to make our dining experience better El Encanto should get waitress that actually care about the people helping them get their paychecks.
