Dreamland has a lot of red flags. The primo downtown location; the quick turnaround from ordering to being presented with your food; the touting of the "world-famous ribs". Those ribs spent so much time in the smoker that they moved from tender to crusty and dry, the meat falling off the bone but the bone also crumbling in your hand. The pork was dry, too, as was the chicken, though the latter is expected due to the white meat - in reality it was probably the best meat I had. Even the sausage was barely holding together because of how much fat was used in the mixture, and Ive rarely been to a barbecue restaurant that cant make a decent sausage. I guess it really is all about the sauce here, considering they sell it by the gallon. Not that it really ascribes to any sort of particular regional barbecue variation. It actually reminded me more of the chili sauce you get at Chris up the street. Dreamland is positioned to cater to the baseball crowd - get you in, get your food, and get you going on your way. Fast service isnt a bad thing, but its obviously getting in the way of the quality of food. Montgomery is a town that knows barbecue, and this isnt it.

What a nice BBQ restaurant in downtown Montgomery. A group of us, about 12, decided to venture down here on a Thursday evening. We had a great waiter....Chris absolutely rocked!!! He was quick, patient and so friendly! We all pretty much ordered something different. I can tell you that the appetizers we ordered, Chicken Nachos, Quesadillas and Cheese Fries were quite tasty. I feel so guilty....I work out everyday but missed today due to this dinner, but it was totally worth it! I ordered the pulled chicken salad with a side of macaroni and cheese. The salad was pretty good but again, the macaroni and cheese disappointed me. Sheesh. My quest to find the perfect, at least edible, mac and cheese continues. Smh. Still, a great atmosphere. We sat outside and the outdoor fans definitely helped keep us cool. Will definitely revisit.

Sorry, folks, this just isnt the real Dreamland. Rib meat should fall off the bone, not have to be worked at. Gotta cookem low and slow, not hot and fast, and imbue the meat with delicate smoke and fine flavor. The flavor should be in the meat; the BBQ sauce should be an addition, not a substitute. The ribs at Outback are better - how sad! The cheap carbo laden sides - where the hell are the vegetables? - taste like they fell off a Cysco truck. And No Cornbread!?! Cmon, this aint Texas (a whole nother fabulous variety of Q) where you dont expect the glories of golden corn, this is the South, and the Deep South at that. If Im gonna go carb crazy dont give me Piggly Wiggly Mac N Cheese, give me cornbread like your mom and them used to make in a cast iron skillet. Its not just not that hard to get it right.

I give the one star because the young lady serving us was very polite and very professional..and the establishment was beautiful.....I ordered a half rack of ribs and they came out extremely overcooked and very dry ..it was literally like eating bland leather...the couple next to us had a full rack of baby back and they came out the same way...they did send theirs back and got some that were a little better..I am just not one to send something back....I believe if it comes out of the kitchen the cook should know Its a product that represents the establishment when its plated and before it leaves....I only rate my experience and not as a whole but I would not recommend and because if the food only would not return.

Typical commercial style BBQ. Had the ultimate combo. Ribs were dry, sausage tasted like sausage cooked over charcoal, pulled pork tasted like bland ole pulled pork. Baked beans tasted no different than beans from a can....oh wait, they threw a 1/2 inch piece of bacon in it. The mac and cheese tasted like.....you guessed it, mac and cheese. NOT BLOWN AWAY AT ALL. Service was nice although I noticed the front-of-house girl didnt care a bit about the customers. She was in auto-pilot the entire time I was there. Ill keep looking for a small BBQ shack that still appreciates and cooks real BBQ with love. Something tells me the man that created Dreamland wouldnt be happy with what his dream has become.

This Dreamland location is definitely above average, but does fluctuate from time to time on food quality. I think theyve had some kitchen issues (I even heard there was a fire), but the last couple times Ive been, the food has been great, so hopefully theyve gotten it worked out. Dont get me wrong, the food has never been bad, its just fluctuated between pretty good and great. One thing that is never bad is the customer service. Ive never had a bad waiter/waitress before. Parking can be an issue, but thats just the nature of the downtown location. If you havent been to Dreamland, definitely go and dont forget to save room for Banana Pudding - its great!

You will be pleased with Dreamland. Dont pay attention to any other review but mine. I have been hearing about Dreamland for years and was excited to finally get a chance to try it. They make a great traditional pulled pork sandwich and the chicken sandwich is also wonderful. The sweet tea is good. The service is great. The host that I have seen every time I have gone is also great about seating you quickly and making sure the restaurant is running. He may even be the manager. The BBQ sauce they use is a good amalgamation of sweet and vinegary and spicy. I only wish I had room enough to try some banana pudding sometime. The prices are reasonable too.

The service was fantastic but the food was just ok. I had the 2-meat combo with ribs and pork, with mac and cheese and baked beans on the side. The ribs were not good. They were charred on the outside and tough, and there was much less meat than I usually find on a spare. It was like rib jerkey. I couldnt taste any amount of rub, if there was one. The pork was ok. Again, not much flavor and no real bark. The sides were ok, but nothing to write home about. I tried some sausage from somebody elses plate and it was actually pretty good. The service alone is responsible for the 2 stars. I dont think Ill be going back.

On the way back from our gulf trip I wanted to stop and try this legendary BBQ. I dont understand the hoopla with this place. I ordered the bbq sandwich and my wife got the bbq chicken sandwich (why no bbq plate?)The food was so bland and tasteless I couldnt believe it. First off, you dont serve bbq already sauced. thats left up to the customer to do. But even with the sauce they put on it and what I put on it there was no taste at all. Just a soggy mess. My wifes was the same. The baked beans were straight from a can. Massive disappointment.

Not what we were expecting from the reviews. The BBQ nachos were literally crappy stadium-esque nachos with that yellow paste "cheese" and really dry pulled pork on top. They got cold way too quickly. The wings werent bad, but they were just your typical tasting barbecue wings. We didnt try a BBQ plate, but any place that will serve nachos like that as a starter, Im not interested in trying the barbecue. Not worth it.
