Lets call it "The Mayonnaise" Incident. This occurred a few months ago & the ONLY reason that Im writing about it now is to let Others know how I was treated by Not only The Chef but The Owner over my wanting some Mayonnaise placed on my Catfish Sandwhich. That day The Owner specifically wrote down my order word for word & gave it to The Chef, when I got My Order Mayo was Clearly missing, & I asked The Owner is this something thats given on the side, or is it Dangerous to put on the Sandwhich because its hit or miss if its on the Bread or Not, & he goes on to say, you can have it put on there if you want it, & I let him know that this occurs often & Im Not offered or given any on The Side. The Chef in the mean time is Laughing in the Background! The Owner said Something Unnecessary & that it let me know that this Situation was on its way to getting out of hand. I let Him know that it was Poor Customer Service on His part & The Chefs part, & All He could Say was, "I Stand by my Chefs, They work hard Everyday" (Well, that WAS NOT the Question!!) & I guess I need to take my food & go, which I did!! That has been about 6months ago & I have NOT Returned, frankly, I ONLY started going because of The Bologna Sandwhich & The Friendly Atmosphere, Hmmmph, NOT ANYMORE, The Rose Colored Glasses ARE OFF

This is a very simple, inexpensive BBQ joint with clean but mismatched tables and chairs and solid food and service. Judged by what it is, a hole in the wall restaurant with a smoker out front, this is exactly what youre looking for: basic southern staples done well and served in baskets. Easygoing and tasty, and nowhere near as expensive as a fancy BBQ restaurant. Ive been only once, ordering the pulled pork plate. Youll want to use sauce, but the texture on the pulled pork is very good... and it is properly pulled, not chopped. Their sauce reminds me of mid-Carolina: vinegar and spices: one sweet, one spicy. Its more liquid than thick. The cornbread are pancakes, and fairly straightforward. The slaw is fresh, and the okra is fantastic: perfectly fried and very flavorful. The whole plate was hard to finish, and Im a big guy who was hungry. My wife had the BBQ nachos with pork (shes originally from California), and really enjoyed it. She noted that it was the perfect size, leaving her pleasantly full. It is a bit out of the way (we live on the other side of Nashville), but it beats the heck out of any of the chain and fast food places that fill the area. When we find ourselves near there, we plan to go back.

So I just moved to Nashville and upon getting here I heard, and read, some pretty good things about this place. The place smells wonderful as there is a smoker out front that fills the air with the smell of BBQ. Definitely entices you to stop in. I ordered thee brisket plate which consisted of brisket, 2 sides (I ordered mac & cheese, and potato salad) and corn bread. Let me first say that the mac & cheese is AMAZING. It is really creamy. You can tell that it is not just thrown into an oven with some processed shredded cheese on top and baked. If there was just a huge bowl of mac & cheese I would have just ordered that. The potato salad was ok. Ive had a lot better at many other different restaurants. Now to the brisket. I guess I have gotten used to getting huge slices of brisket at many other BBQ restaurants instead of little slithers of brisket. The brisket is really good, dont get me wrong. I was just expecting a bigger portion of brisket for the $12.40 that I paid for this meal. I am in no way going to say that this place is awful because it wasnt. It was good but to me personally it was not up to par with what all the other reviews say about portions. I will go back to try some other menu items in the future.

If you want a taste of old-fashioned, Southern-style barbecue then Fat Boys is your kind of place. Whether its pulled-pork, smoked chicken, or beef brisket, he food is consistently amazing. Ive been frequenting this establishment for years and the very few times Ive not been totally satisfied I found the owner to be beyond reasonable in making certain my future experiences were excellent. So many great things on the menu. I love their ribs - juicy, tender, and with just the right hint of smoke. I also believe their Hot Chicken is as good as any youll find. But my favorite - OMG! - is the Brisket Quesadilla. It is like nothing else Ive ever had. The atmosphere is very informal: its a cinderblock building with the smoker right out front - the perfect venue for what it is: a great old-fashioned barbecue joint. Highly recommended.

Sweet, friendly lady took my order. I got the combination plate with pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. Ribs had been a bit over steamed in foil or something removing any flavor from the bark. Brisket needed sauce and so did pulled pork. All required sauce to get flavor. Sauces are a bit on the thin side and not really that different from each other. Very vinegar driven. Definitely not the worst BBQ in Nashville. I had turnip greens and green beans for sides and they were pretty good and did have flavor. Cornbread and sweet tea were good as well.

I have been to this restaurant several times. I usually receive great food and service. My last two visits was far from good. My rib plate was horrible, the meat was hard. I said to the cashier that the ribs were hard with little amount of meat. She gave me a speech about it try it and asked if I want the plate or not. I drove from LaVergne to Antioch so yes, I want my food. I will not return. I tried supporting the small business but I would rather give a chain $3 more for twice the meat on the bones.

Ive been dining at Fat Boys since their opening some years ago. The food is GOOOOD and one major thing that I like I can still eat properly whats proper for me at a barbecue place and since they smoke & BBQ all natural I can eat the chicken as well as the barbecue without the sauces and they serve salads and if I want to eat fattening I can but Fat Boys allows me to enjoy the barbecue and have a well-balanced meal thanks Tony! Tony is the owner and he along with all the other workers all are just great!!

Not a bad BBQ place, considering the location. Theres few options available in the area. The good thing is that they have a nice variety of food to choose from. Unfortunately the food was just OK. I ordered the ribs and my friend ordered the pulled pork. The ribs were just St. Louis style ribs, but the price was more expensive than Martins BBQs WHOLE Spare rib. The sauces that were available werent that good either. If youre craving BBQ, you can come here, otherwise go somewhere else.

Excellent food and service. If youre looking for the real thing in Bar-B-Q, give Fat Boys Bar-B-Q a try. I just had their ribs with fries and both were delicious. They have other items like a loaded backed potato, fish, chicken strips, brisket, turkey, wings, and several different sandwiches too. From the folks taking my order at the counter to the owner Tony, you will find this place really friendly and convent to Donelson, Smyrna, Antioch and Nashville.
