Thank you, ShoGun, for an experience so awful that it almost ruined our familys birthday celebration. I would have forgiven this, and I would not be posting this, if only we had gotten some form of APOLOGY, or at least an explanation, but we got neither. My son wanted no present for his special day except a special sushi lunch at a nice restaurant. We should have anticipated trouble when the server never even greeted us, had a brusque attitude, and showed little interest in answering our questions about menu items. At that point we already agreed not to not leave a tip (including one in our party who is also a server in a restaurant). I had not expected it would get worse, but it did. We arrived at around 12:15 pm, and we did not get our food until 1:30 -- thats literally MORE THAN ONE HOUR of waiting for our food. In that time, every other customer that arrived -- we were the very first to be seated there -- got served. Not only that, by the time we got our orders, THREE tables had already FINISHED and left! Three people in our party got up to inquire about their progress, and not once was there explanation or apology. This is not the first time Ive had to wait so long for an order, but in those times the wait was less than an hour, and the quality of the food (and an apologetic server) was enough to make the wait a distant memory. This time, even after we finished our lunch (which was pretty good), most of us were still shaking with anger and disappointment. It might have been cruel of me to write a bunch of ZEROs under "tip" when I signed the check, but at that point it was taking every ounce of my resolve to not make a public scene right there. My son was so depressed, and the drive home was deathly quiet, that it took me the rest of the afternoon to get everyone cheered back up. To be sure, we will be talking about this experience for a long, long time. Once again, if only someone, anyone, in ShoGun expressed even one ounce of remorse for this, we would have let all this go and you would not be reading about this. Disclaimers: Its possible the restaurant was having a bad day, or there was some serious problem in the background of things -- but if they had explained the situation, we would have been more patient. You should also be aware that we are a family of color, and all the other customers in the section were not -- which may or not have been a factor (and possibly good news for you).

YOU PAY THE SAME AS MIKATOS (OFF AZALEA) AND KONNITIWA (COTTAGE HILL RD.). And Mikatos and Konnitiwa have MUCH better quality rolls, and include actually vegetables and good seafood in your roll. Shogun uses too much mayo and rice, and their crawfish rolls, almost look like imitation crab meat. My first time there, I called my order in an hour early, the drive thru lady actually reprimanded me by telling me to "call my order in ATLEAST 20 minutes early next time." I had to inform her that Id called it in atleast an hour ago. She rolled her eyes and shut the window to see if my food was ready yet. -My sister used to reeeally liked this place, but informed me NEVER to actually watch them make the food, her last time there.. she watched the chef drop a roll on the floor, bend down on their hands and knees and look under the counter for it, then pick it up and put it on the plate. EWWWWW !! NOT CLEAN !! Konnitiwa has strange hours, but is totally worth it. Call for their hours. Mikatos has poor service, but awesome rolls, fantastic quality and good filling within the roll. Liquid Lounge on Dauphin St. is much more americanized (some rolls include beans), but have good rolls. Samurai J, Ive heard has poor service now, when I used to go a few years ago, their food was pretty good. GOOD LUCK !!

This place has great sushi, fresh fish, good size pieces of nigiri, and nice size rolls. I have only had the sushi there, so I cant speak for other items, but the sushi is very good. I usually go there for lunch and order one of the nigiri/roll combination. I either get the 3 piece nigiri and tuna roll or the 5 piece nigiri and California roll. These combos come with a unique salad and miso soup, both of which are very flavorful. However, the best part of this lunch combo is the fact that I also always get good pieces of nigiri. Many times when you order combos like that which are chefs choice on the pieces, you end up getting small pieces that are the cheapest or least popular items in the sushi case. I have been to several places where my 3 nigiri pieces were tofu, egg, and crabstick. Not at Shogon. Every time I have been there I have gotten three large pieces of good qaulity Nigiri usually tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. The sushi is accompanied by a good serving of wasabi that has plenty of kick, a nice mound of picked ginger, and a few pieces of fresh fruit. The ginger and wasabi are common sushi accompaniments, but the fresh fruit is not, and I have to say its a very nice touch. Definitively one of the better sushi places in town that you should certainly check out.

Ive eaten at Shogun many times, and Ive always enjoyed it. Ive tried both their sushi bar and their hibachi grill. The sushi bar is clean and the environment is great. The sushi chefs are very personable and funny, and their rolls are always tasty with great quality ingredients. The hibachi chefs are very entertaining as well, and they do a great job of keeping the overall atmosphere of the restaurant happy and fun. The service is good, and the servers are friendly. Dinners come with a couple of different kinds of soup and a salad with a sweet dressing. The fried rice and the special sauce are my favorite parts. The chefs do fun tricks with the food while they cook, so its always enjoyable to watch while you wait. Ive always enjoyed my experience there, and I make it a point to go back often!

I had to get everyone tickets and go pay at the cash register.WOW! So we were ready to walk out n was stopped bc ine of my tickets didnt get paid. I paid it but FYI if my wait ress would have been there all tis NONSENSE would have been avoided.Fool me once shame on u,Fool me twice shame on me.STAY TUNE

Weve visited several times before and the experience is usually good. Last night the service was horrible. And to top it off. There was a bug crawling around inside the head of a mushroom when the chef drop the vegetables on the grill. When we brought it to the chefs attention. He looked at it, threw that mushroom away and proceeded to cook. With the same spatula hed used to pick up the mushroom. This is the worse experience weve ever had at a restraunt. The bug squirming around the mushroom head was so disgusting I completely lost my appetite.
