My daughter gave my wife and me a gift certificate from Parish Seafood in Trussville, Al. We went there Saturday afternoon around 3:00 with my daughter and her husband, expecting a fine meal. Everything was good, except the cold coffee that had to be sent back, the second cup was good once the coffee grounds were removed. The fried shrimp was good, but the hush puppies were not only overcooked, but were hard and could not be eaten. My daughters husband had crab cakes that were overcooked and burnt. I told the waitress, and she said she would tell the cook. That wasnt good enough for me, so I took one of the burnt hushpuppies and told the cook, "You spoiled a good meal by sending something out of YOUR kitchen this bad". I gave him the burnt hushpuppie, which he tried to break apart, but couldnt. He tossed it into the garbage and laughed at me. This may be a sign that the restaurant is having a hard time or who ever was in charge of the kitchen wasnt qualified to run the kitchen. There were 3 couples that left before being served. I do not know why, however, I can speculate, they left because Parish Seafood did not have crab claws. A favorite of the regulars. My opinion: Matt better take charge of the restaurant and not leave it to someone who does not have a vested interest in the business.

Well never go back. Our pre-dinner drinks on the enclosed porch were interrupted by employees spraying ammonia cleaner on the windows around us. We told the server and a manager (I think) to cancel our order since I was unable to eat because of the effect on my asthma. The food was ready, my partner was hungry, so we sat in the separate bar so he could eat. They put my food on the table even though I told them I could not eat. I did try some of the gumbo - it was OK. They brought containers for my dinner. No one ever asked how I was and we were charged fully. The owner did say "sorry about the incident" as he passed our table. Their attitude makes our dinner decisions easy - anywhere but Parish Seafood.

This establishment is in dire need of customer service training. To walk in and be wholly ignored by the entire staff for 10 minutes is unacceptable. Not a single verbal greeting from the two waitresses trying to figure out some issue with the order terminal, just a grimace. Sat down at the bar and watched the oyster shucker chat with drunk patrons; still no acknowledgement or welcome. Out of the blue, after 10 minutes had passed, absent bartender (owner?) shoves a handful of quarters in my face from behind and asks if Im jealous she has all that money. Wasnt in the mood for any more unprofessional behavior, so I just walked out. Wont be back.

My husband and I went there tonight and had such a great experience that we had to come home and leave a good review straight away. We were seated almost immediately, even though it was a pretty packed house. The service was awesome, our drinks were never empty, and the food was incredible. We got the seafood platter for two and it was a HUGE amount of food for only $37. The shrimp was enormous and fresh, the fried oysters were big, the fried catfish was delicious, and the crab cakes were BIG and FULL of crab meat. The hushpuppies were some of the best weve ever had. Highly recommend.

My wife, myself, Mother-in-Law, and daughter ate here a few weeks ago and since then I have ordered a carry-out or two from Parish Seafood and love it. I am from the Gulf Coast and this is the best seafood I have eaten since I was eating fresh seafood right on the beach in Florida. The food is fresh, hot and well seasoned. If I had to guess I would say the cook is either from N.O. Louisiana or some other Gulf Coast City known for its fine dinning. This place is a hole in the wall so to speak but the food is top notch. Again, the best Seafood I have had in years.

Having eaten at the Parish Seafood House several times since opened, I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience. The food is generally very good and is consistent from visit to visit. As a Birmingham native, I find this blend of Cajun and Seafood to be a rare find nearby. From the red beans & rice, to grilled fish, to raw oysters (one of the only place in BHM to get NE or NW oysters in the right season), it has all been good. The beer is also always cold! I recommend the Parish Seafood House often and am eating lunch there today!

Good service. The food tasted good however the portions were small. I had to go home and eat more food. Might be better off going across the street to Red Lobster. For 14.95 I got the shrimp platter I received 8 shrimp, on top of soggy fries, and decent coleslaw. I shared a bread pudding that was microwaved but nice in presentation. I left hungry for an averaged framed 60" 195 pound person. Signed, The UnOfficial Food Critic.

Ordered takeout at the suggestion of a friend. The food tasted okay, but I should have known something was up when my mom said she wished they would have cooked her fish a little longer. Later before my father ate his, he showed me how his catfish was basically raw under the breading. He put in in the microwave for a minute or two and it seemed to be okay. Long story short I ended up puking up my dinner. Will not be back!!

I went here with my brother for dinner. They had great service, the waitresses were very attentive and friendly. While you are assigned one waitress, any available will be happy to help without even asking. The food was incredibly delicious! The servings were more than adequate for the pricing. If its your first time with a friend, I highly recommend the "Parish Platter for Two". You wont be disappointed.

Nice and friendly staff! Food portions are great for the price & happy hour is even better!! Great tasting, good quality food! Oysters are AMAZING! Atmosphere is very beachy! The only reason I cant give it 5 stars is because the womens bathroom had a string you had to pull from the tank to flush the toilet that was tied to the handicap rail and the toilet paper was in the floor ):

Ive eaten at Parish several times over the past 6 months or so, and I have been more than satisfied each time. The fish tacos (3 very large tacos with fresh mango salsa) are great. The happy hour oyster prices are cheaper than what you pay on the coast. Ive never left hungry or unhappy. This is a great place to eat, especially given the gross chain alternatives in this town.

This place was fantastic. I had the shrimp poboy, fries and onion rings. Also tried the snapper sandwich, some oysters, and crabcakes with roasted potato salad. It was fantastic. Seafood was fresh, the prices were good, and service was excellent. It is rare to find a place this far inland that carries me back to the Gulf Coast in one bite.

the baked oysters are tops... they could have been hotter for the cheese on top... i told the owner she says you can order them that way... so donorder them oven hot... full bar....southern seafood fare...some sauces are better than others... they have the traditional southern seafood part down pat. tops in that area for sure
