Im going to share our experience here last month and then yesterday, you decide. Last month: My wife and I stopped in for dinner place was quite and nice, we even knew our waitress. We both ordered the broiled seafood combo. The food was great, Service was great the owner came to every table and greeted the patrons. It was a good experience over all. Fast forward to yesterday. We had a party of 8 and were excited to come here again a use it was so good last time. Our nephews soccer team was holding a fundraiser and the owner agreed to donate 20% of every check to the team fund, wonderful way to get new customers to try your place. Our orders were taken, drinks brought, salads, soup and rolls brought out. Then we waited, over 1hr and 45min. a table next to ours left before their food came. We werent sure if we were even getting our dinners. Then finally we were relieved to see our food arrive. my plate was presented, I had chicken and ribs, at first sight it did not even look edible but I decided to give it a try. The ribs were literally a pile of pork fat and mush with bbq sauce thrown on top, not cooked or caramelized over the ribs but just thrown on top as if to cover up the terrible meat underneath. The waitress passed out the other plates which looked ok. Then she handed my wife a side of applesauce and said "theres a piece of lettuce in it, probably just fell off another plate" and still served it to her to eat. She pushed it away in disgust. it was pretty gross. I stomached what meat I could find from the ribs and I suspected they werent cooked well and then I cut into my chicken breast, small maybe 3oz. portion. def. frozen and thawed and maybe even refrozen. I took one bite and spit it out, it was raw. I was going to say something but didnt want it taken off the check cause then the soccer team would get less of a donation from the meal. Strike three.... My brother in law bit into his wrap an spit out a green plastic bread bag clip that was in his wrap. everyone at the table pretty much stopped eating. Another waitress heard us talking about it and attempted to apologize, she said she knew how bad it was and they just got a new cook and customers were taking it out on them (tip wise). she was literally tearing up as she told us this. she was clearly upset, frustrated and embarrased. The owner did come out earlier to.tell us our food was 5 min. away from serving only to wait another 30min. till it actually came. He did not come back to address our issues, the wrap was taken off the check and our waitress was also clearly embarrased to the point where she barely wanted to come to our table again. It was a complete train wreck. Probably the worst dining experience Ive ever had anywhere. The wait staff and owner were very nice and friendly but did not know how to manage this very bad situation. If they keep putting food out like this people are going to get sick. This was my experience, I cannot speak for everyone, take it as you will.

I stopped here after a visit to Centralia, for lunch, and a further drive to Syracuse, NY. Id planned on having a Philly cheese steak sandwich as I continued my drive, but Im glad I chose to eat in. The atmosphere and staff of the Mineshaft Café were perfect, a highlight in the wonderful little town that is Ashland. My food (cheesesteak with fries, and a drink) was served hot and fresh, and quickly. My order of fries was huge, and perfectly cooked. The sandwich was also huge, hot, cheesy, and delicious. It was also perfectly sloppy as it should be, which is why Im glad I didnt attempt an eat and drive! If you find yourself in this area, do make a stop, I have no doubt the other items on their good sized menu are as well worth the experience as mine was!

I love this place! Out of all the places in town! However, Ive ordered numerous times from them, they dont always get their orders straight, not in a major way but Im picky. I absolutely hate pickles! So, I hate when my bread on a turkey club tastes like a pickle BC they put in a pickle that I absolutely requested not to have! It doesnt later what plate, they put chips and a pickle on unless you request an upgrade of fries. I always tell them "upgrade fries and no chips and no pickle" I come home via take out and always habe a pickle in the middle of my same Turkey club. Come on already.

Wow, So many good reviews and here I am. Small group of 6 only one other group in cafe. Steak came out crispy so waitress took another wack at it. After about 30 minutes an inquiring the information was that try number two was burned. My prime rib was way over cooked. Basically I dont know what went on there but it was not a good day on this past saturday. I would have rather them tell us the cook was out and jsut gave us french fries or something that a non cook could handle. Charles Moore Petersburg, Virginia

I looked up restaurants in the area and this place had good reviews so we chose here to stop for lunch. I ordered the Crab Stuffed Chicken Breast. It was so good, that even though I was full, I couldnt stop eating! I even asked for a to go container to take the remainder of the Alfredo sauce with me. My husband was happy with his meal also. Glad this was the place we chose!!

Very diverse menu. From grilled cheese to cheesesteaks to full course meals. Their white zinfandel salad dressing is delicious! Always several specials available. Great fresh fries, cooked to perfection. The owner is very often there and talking with patrons. Never had a bad anything here! Friendly staff at all times!
