Close your eyes and in the distance hear the faint singing of La Vie En Rose accompanied by an accordion: "Des yeux qui font baisser les miens Un rire qui se perd sur sa bouche Voilà le portrait sans retouche De lhomme auquel jappartiens Quand il me prend dans ses bras Il me parle tout bas Je vois la vie en rose..." (La Vie En Rose by Édith Piaf ) This is how I feel while enjoying modest brasserie food with an equal dosage of attitude. Its a lot closer than Paris and a short walk from moi appartement.

Can i sing their praises loud enough? Classic French culinary perfection! The natives have spoken (not me, the other patrons)... I have found my favorite brasserie in the city that thankfully does away with snubby attitudes and pretense at the front door (balthazar, pastis... anyone?) The hostess was lively and accommodating even on a Friday evening with no reservations. The tight space was packed and French speakers were spotted in ever corner, yet my table of 3 sat quite comfortably by the window. Every daily special sounded perfect, yet I went with the classic steak au poivre. Perfect sauce, perfect fries. My tables daily special of mustard chicken with a tangy cheese was so wonderful I could have ordered it for dessert. I hadnt room for an appetizer but I cant wait to go back for their variety of classic french salads - maches with beets, endives with Roquefort - need I say more?

My Mom is 80 years old. She walked in for a cup of coffee and the waitress seemed upset that she wasnt ordering breakfast. The waitress sat her in a corner and served her a stale cup of coffee. My mother said it tasted like it had been sitting around for a while.. When my mother asked her for a fresh cup, the waitress did not empty the cup my mom had taken a few sips of, but she filled the same cup. When my mom went to pay, the waitress said we do not take credit cards for under $10.00. My mom did not have cash and her bill was almost $7.00. Now, my mom is 80 years old, she did not want to walk to a bank to get cash. This is not how to treat a customer, especially an 80 year old woman. I know the French can be rude, but disrespectful to the elderly is way out of line. I hope people read this and do not enter that place.

My friends and I came here on busy St. Patricks day after searching through countless brunches for seating without any luck (darn those Leprechauns). We found this great cafe and decided to give it a try. Cute and french-decorated, Mon Petit offered some delicious options from their brunch menu. I ordered the French toast and devoured it despite the large portions. My friends ordered the artichoke topped with a poached egg, and it only took one bite to know we had struck gold. My only complaint with this place was the poor handling of the check after the meal. Our waitress had a hard time figuring out how to split the bill when we had written exact amounts on the receipt. I ended up getting charged double the cost of my meal...but we figured it out in the end.

The food was good enough: good quiche, and wine, medium average salmon and tart tatin (not exceptional) but the prices really high and with so bad service. I went with my husband for lunch on a Thursday (not a so busy day). They took order from a man seated after us, never brought a spoon asked to share a soup ad brought some tap water only after we asked three times. Finally nobody said thank you when we left. They definitely need to change the tips rules over here: give the tip only when deserved for good service as in the other countries!

Went for lunch today, real disaster, ordered escargot ( double portion) 6 escargots??? overcooked, in sauce not cooked,! Main course we had sole meuniere,, dont think they know what it means!! The sole was fried!! means bone dry, came with rice???? And broccoli!? Never seen this combination in my life! The mussels where very small but kind of tasty! Service was horrible, paper napkins, didnt even get new fork and knife for main course!! Never again worsth experience in French restaurants in Manhattan!

My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant in May 2007 and so enjoyed the sole at lunch that we re-visited the restaurant later for dinner and another memorable meal. Recently, we were in New York again and found the service, food, and ambience had not faltered in six months. The wait staff are helpful and friendly, and the owner most accommodating. On our next visit in spring, we will definitely visit again.

have no idea how they become zagat rated. Lamb shank was cold inside (yes, the didnt cook it fresh). Fish - almost unedible. Mimosa - champagne and orange juice - what could be simple? - still they managed to mix the worst mimosa I ever tried. Oh, forgot, the bread the brought in the beginning - it also was faaar from fresh.

Excelentes vinhos que acompanham pratos da culinária francesa muito bem preparados. O local não é caro, o espaço é aconchegante e romântico.

Food, service, atmosphere, location...all perfect! Had the most delicious yogurt, granola, berries & honey I have ever tasted! Reminded me of what I had in Paris. The rest of my party all enjoyed omelets served with the most delicious salad and frites. Lovely place that I would go to again.

Very quaint in every sense of the word. We had the potato and leek soup which was very good. The coffee was also quite tasty. All in all a very nice restaurant, the waitstaff was friendly and helpful, the decor was pleasant, and the atmosphere was very nice.

Mon Petit Cafe is my favorite place to eat! Nice French home cooked meals and great service is why this place has been around for decades! I have yet to have a bad meal here and I have been dining here for years! You will not be disappointed!

They had a nice breakfast menu. I had the scandinavian version of a breakfast. Cant say its common in Sweden though, might be a norwegian thing. But it was good. =) A bit pricey but worth it IMO.

Quintessential exception to the stereotype of French smugness. Always accommodating, everyones so friendly, and the food for the most part is totally worth it.

Looking for a good classic French fare, this is the place. Usually more french speakers than non, food is consistent and decor is simple, uncluttered.

Love this French restaurant. Refined food. The staff is very nice and helpful. I felt I was in Paris eating in a small bistro. I will go back for sure.

Favorite spot to lounge with friends on a lazy afternoon. Authentic French, the people and the food. Try the soft shell crabs special when in season.

Had the “Frenchy” Cobb Salade. It was fantastic; one of the best meals Ive had in a long time. Tasty and filling. Great service too.
