This was absolutely one of the WORST meals I have had in awhile with over a $600 bill with a party of 7. I would avoid the restaurant at all costs because it was quite terrible. Let me go further into detail. The Food: the escargot was terrible. Tasted like rubber. The French onion soup was salty and after tasting the "French" onion soup at a French restaurant - I knew this would go down hill fast. The rack of lamb was barely medium rare as I asked for and I could have made better lamb chops than La Coquille did! Trust me. As for the other entrees that my table had - it lacked taste and was dry. Half the table had Salmon - and it was dry as I couldnt even swallow it without having water. My Jack and Coke was mediocre - I had better. Lastly, the dessert. I had a creme brûlée which was terrible. I stress again, how does a French restaurant serve garbage? My girlfriend next to me just elaborated how disgusting her fruit tart was which consisted of mushy fruit and mediocre whipping/custard. The Service: The waiter was nice and tried to crack some jokes - which werent funny, but hey, he tried. The wait staff could have been more attentive. This doesnt earn any extra stars in my Yelp Book! The Atmosphere: Nothing remarkable. An open room with tables and the front entrance had a bar side to its right. I will make ONE note that stuck with me the whole night - Seems like La Coquille lets anyone in these days. A mother, father, and daughter came in wearing t shirts, ripped jeans, and sneakers. The daughter was playing on her tablet during dinner. Upscale place? Absolutely not if they let people like this in to an "Upscale French Restaurant." I dont care what race you are - Have some respect and dress up for nice places. What makes you different from all the others that abide by dress code? If you can afford to eat at a place like this - buy some slacks, a dress, a pair of dress shoes, heels, whatever. Furthermore, take the damn tablet out of your kids hand and learn to be parents! Have some respect for your fellow patrons! Overall: Ill keep this short. Do not come to La Coquille unless you want to break the bank and leave with a terrible dining experience. I would give this place 0 stars if I was allowed too! STAY AWAY. There are far better restaurants on Long Island than to be eating at a place like this. Check my reviews - youll see and thank me.

Located in a strip mall of quaint shops (near Godiva!) its easy to miss but not hard to find. A very quaint French atmosphere-waiters are Italian and Latin American so they have a professionalism about them makes it feel authentically European. You walk into the bar area where its upbeat and contemporary feel and go into the ample dining hall well appointed with French Provincial decor but handsome colors. My favorite room is the small intimate space for only a handful of tables nestled under a beautiful chandelier, with a candle lit fire place and decor that makes you feel you are in the south of France. The food was elegant and well designed, balanced and flavorful. Simple but with the subtle complexities of authentic French cuisine. Its been here for years family owned since its inception. A portrait of the owners beautiful mother over the mantle piece speaks to the elegance and care that characterize the service and cuisine.

Ive eaten at La Coquille 3 times. The first 2 were verrry good. The third and most recent visit was extraordinary!!! My husband and I typically eat salad or tuna tartar wherever we dine so I feel qualified to rave about these 2 appetizers here. Each bite of salad was a perfect combination of ingredients. No need to ask for dressing on the side as they know how little will emulsify over the greens without leaving a puddle at the bottom of your plate. Tuna tartar "Japanois" has the same quality of perfect balance. The Branzino was the best ever; the flavor and FRESHNESS is something that still lingers with me. Our friends had escargot and artichoke for appetizers and duck, steak, and mushroom ravioli for entrees. We all licked our plate clean; something Im not proud to share but truth be told, well deserved!!! Looking forward to returning soon!

1. Had a reservation for 8:15, wasnt seated until 8:45; no one offered to sit us at the bar, offer us an appetizer, etc. I had to ask 3x how long it was going to take, and each time the hostess said "Youre table is being set up". 2. The service sucks. Waiter was disengaged and SLOW; he actually asked if we were ready to order drinks and food without giving us a menu. After the meal, he didnt give the dessert menu before asking if we wanted dessert. Was I supposed to know what they offer and the specials magically?? Not once was my water refilled, or was I asked if I wanted another drink. 3. Food was decent, nothing spectacular. For the price, Id rather go to a proper French place in NYC.

My wife and I decided to give this restaurant a try for our 3 year anniversary. We were seated in a small intimate room with a fire place illuminated by candles. The floor was stone, and the ceiling was high and beautiful. We said that this was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. The half chicken was succulent and my taste buds were in heaven. The service was excellent and friendly. We plan to go back soon and try the short ribs and apple tart for dessert.

Step back to the days of Camelot, the Kennedys and Onassis. Theres a Rolls parked in front and the fare makes one nostalgic for classic elegance. Duck lorange anyone...? Wonderful food, wonderful surroundings. As spoken by our broker when we moved into Manhasset in 2005, "Youre not buying a house, youre buying a lifestyle." La Coquille is the epitome of lifestyle!

One of many up-scale restaurants in the Manhasset along Norther Boulevard. This restaurant certainly offers good classical "old" French cuisine. The creations & diversity of the menue could be more diverse. The price for the meals is however too steep. Bocuse would also agree :-)

A little overrated I would say. My entree was dry and borderline burnt. Waiter wasnt very friendly, was in a haste to take our orders.
