The Mad Rooster Cafe is just next to KFC near Target on Miller Park Way. Ive been going there since they first opened, since I live in the area, and Ive been recommending it to friends and family since. MRC is a breakfast/lunch place that serves your typical menu of food: pancakes, omelettes, skillets, yogurt, sandwiches/hamburgers, etc. However, the difference is the quality of food and the delightful (seemingly Mexican) twist to some of the foods, such as avocados, jalapenos and chorizo. The first dish I ever ate there was an omelette with jalapenos and avocados (among other things) and the omelette was quite large and came with delicious diced baby red potatoes (Im getting hungry thinking about it again). Heres a few other things Ive had: * The "Blueberry crunch" pancakes are very good. The blueberries seem to be quite big and flavorful. * The Bloody Mary was better than average but not the best Ive ever had. * They server a special Anodyne blend of coffee. Anodyne is a local (Milwaukee) coffee roaster and my favorite. * Im a big fan of the homemade Greek yogurt with fresh berries and honey. * Im also a big fan of the oatmeal with fresh berries. * Ive tried their burgers (wife ordered) and theyre pretty good if youre not in the mood for "breakfast" food. * The skillets and Eggs Benedict are very good. The one thing I had that I just didnt like was a French toast based dish. The dish *looked* amazing when it arrived. A women even came up to ask me what I ordered because she wanted to order it. Sadly, there just wasnt a lot of taste despite the list of ingredients. It might be just that Im no longer a fan of French toast? I dont know. After having tried quite a few places, I think the Mad Rooster Cafe is my favorite place for breakfast. Im guessing many people agree because it didnt take long for the place to be packed every Saturday/Sunday morning. If youre in the area and looking for a huge filling, tasty breakfast or brunch, hands down try the Mad Rooster. As for pricing, its average higher breakfast prices. $8-12 plates depending on what you get.

I live just up the road from here - yet I only recently had a meal here. Two, in fact, so good was the first one! You can tell upon entering the cafe - that the moniker "Mad Rooster" is not about an angry chicken, rather an off beat, crazy kinda place. Not too crazy - just different from your standard breakfast truck stops, for example (which can often be a surprisingly good thing). The first time I was there the service was a bit mediocre, but the waitress was young and Ill give her a break for that. Hopefully, experience will teach her that a little more alacrity when the customer asks for a clean glass and a refill makes all the difference in how the whole restaraunt is perceived. The second time I was there, the waitress (a bit older) practically did back flips to help me out. At both times, I was there during a non-rush time - but sure, it wasnt slow either. What I can say, is that the food is so amazingly tasty, fresh and well prepared that it makes up for any lack of service. The ambiance is wonderful - the kinda pick-me-up you can use when you are feeling bored, down, and need a change. I dont want this to be a review about one waitress - whose service wasnt horrible (dont get me wrong - Ive had way, way worse), just not as good as I was expecting, I only pointed that out because even though it was a bit disappointing the first time - I was more than happy to come back. And it paid off with the better service. What is spectacular about this cafe is the wide, wide variety of breakfast foods. If I were in town more often, Id probably be on my 10th or 11th review right now. :-) Check out the menu, a link is posted with this maps business. And enjoy!

This place is busy! We waited about a half hour, and let me tell you, it was worth it! The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is to die for, and overall a great place to dine. I would never turn down the opportunity to go here. We went for a mid morning breakfast. I ordered A LOT of food. Had the coffee to drink. Its their own brew, and it was good. I prefer an earthier brew, personally, but theres was still good. Next up was their secret recipe chili. Hearty, tinge of spice, topped with cheese and sour cream. I asked for the oven roast jalapenos to be on the side, and good thing, too! WHEW! Then the main course! The boyfriend ordered the breakfast tacos with the soft corn tortillas and baby reds on the side. Excellent! I ordered the stuffed French toast AND the breakfast burger. The toast is filled with Bavarian cream and topped with fresh fruits and icing with whipped cream on the side. Simply wonderful. It was like a breakfast doughnut, practically. The breakfast burger comes ona pretzel bun, veggies on side, topped with an egg, cheddar jack and bacon. Was very delicious. The burger still maintains some pinkness so it is good perfectly and not a hockey puck. I was initially concerned that it might be over done when I ordered it, but Im glad my fear was wrong. Very good. On the side I had the loaded baby reds with cheese and onions and peppers. it was very good, but I would save teh extra couple bucks and stick with the original reds next time. All items perfect. I was so happy we chose there, it is now some place I want to take people visiting town every time.

If theres any metro-Milwaukee restaurant that can give the infamous Blues Egg a run for its money, Mad Rooster is it. It is absolutely incredible. Mad Rooster is an eclectic combination of country and fun, complete with murals of Rooster Napolean and famous characters like Superman and King Leonidas showing their support ("This is Madness? This is breakfast!!!"). As fun as the interior is, the food is out of this world. This trip saw us try the Monte Crisco and the Carnivore Omlette. Both were HUGE portions. The Crisco was a delicious combo of ham, bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiched between two perfectly crispy pieces of powder sugared French Toast. A fruit salad bowl and fresh squeezed OJ rounded out the behemoth plate. For the Carnivore, ham, bacon, sausage, and a molten two cheese river combined with what had to be at least five eggs to form an appropriately-named pillow of meaty delight. Finished with perfectly seasoned baby red potatoes and one of the best mimosas in the Milwaukee area, I wanted to eat more but had run out of room. Despite our waiter Carlos being very attentive, the only knock on this place was the (very short) wait. Despite a line inside, there were a number of tables open, leading us to believe the full waitstaff had yet to be hired... understandable with a new restaurant. All in all, we LOVED everything about Mad Rooster. Its fresh ingredients make this scratch-made breakfast/lunch joint sure to be one that sticks around for a long time. I cant wait to go back!

I dont think I have ever had such bad customer service in my whole life. The server (Luis, I think?) made us wait 15 minutes for our check not because he was running around serving or grabbing stuff for other customers...just because he was chit chatting with one table in particular. We were irritaed at the wait, so we decided to leave cash at the table in lue of potentially waiting another 15 minutes for change or to get our card back. We were almost at our car when our server who didnt have the time to get us our check ran out to accuse us of not paying! My boyfriend went back inside with him after insisting that we did leave cash to find the manager who said there was a misunderstanding and someone else took the money. He got an apology that was not genuine and seemed forced from the server and absolutely no apology from the manager! Im discusted with the service and woundlt return if you paid me. The food was good, but greatly overshadowed by the service. We also received no refills, and one of our meals was incorrect, we just never got a chance to let the server know because he never came back once the food was dropped off.
