Upon entering this location you are surprised by the non cliche appearance. The tables are spaced well so as not to be crammed all together and the fire makes it toasty and warmwhile adding that extra ambiance. The food cannot be beat for the regional styles and the portions are great. There is no childrens menu but you can order a la carte items off the menu that work our well fit size and price. The service was excellent and having grown up eating different styles of Mexican food in Texas I am pleased to find this gem. A small note about the great margaritas here....try the banana as it isnt just some candy flavoring but a real banana puree frozen into joy.

Food was average - Salsa tasted like tomato paste. Rice and beans were bland. Chimichangas (chunky beef) we great. I was also shocked to see that having a party of 5 people they ADDED AN 18% TIP to our bill....I have never heard of this. I usually tip between 20 & 25% as I am from the restaurant industry so the waitress lost out only because of the priciple behind them adding this to my bill for only 5 people. I understand a large group but really 5 people. I spoke to the manager and she said it was their policy...I said "Is that stated on the menu?" - Her reply "No". I would not return to Jalapeno Loco due to this.

Traditional style mexican food. Near the airport, easy access from S. Howell. My especial cinco, if I remember correctly, was good. Nothing Especial about the food. The enchilada was good, the cheese was a little chewy, but the enchilada sauce made up for that issue. Their rice is traditional style and was nice and fluffy. Their beans were just average. I only had them on the tostada and not with the rice on the side. Wait staff were friendly and efficient like most hispanic employees are. If I ever come back to Wisconsin, I might try something else, but if I lived here I most likely wouldnt come back that often.

The people here are Family oriented, and treat you like you are part of the family. I would eat here every day if I could. We have eaten here twice in a single day a few times. This is the ONLY Mexican place we eat at. (and I have tried them all in the past) The food has that home-made goodness to it. No restaurant depot food here. Everything I have every ordered has been just delicious. The Salsa, both the mild Red, and the Spicy Green, done right. Fresh tasting, with a full flavor. If I had to make a suggestion to improve, I would suggest open for breakfast on the weekends.

We came into town, checked into the Hyatt hungry. Checked my phone to c what around here was good. Went on this site & read all the rave re: this place. We got food to go. We spent 30$ for very little food. Fine if its good. a 3yo could have made a better meal. then theguy who says the food is as good as New Mexico or Arizona. Has he been to either of those states. As I sit & write this I am getting sick on the throne. This is the worst food Ive eaten. EVER. Only gave it a star cuz I had to to submit. DONT EAT HERE!

Horrible service-did not get our drinks until our food had already arrived. When we ordered something that we did not like, we requested a new entree, the waitress called the manager who rudely explained that we would have to pay for both meals since there was nothing wrong with the other one. I told her I understand, Im willing to pay because I did not like it. However, they seemed very rude about it.

I travel for work and read reviews before I decide on where to eat. I was sitting in another mexican restaurants parking lot when I read the reviews for here. I was persuaded to come here due to the owner taking time to respond and the amount of postitive reviews. Im glad I chose here. Food was very good, the service was excellent and salsa Verde was some of the best Ive had.

The food was delicious, the waitress was attentive. The one flaw in this visit was the fact that they charged extra for tortillas for the steak fajitas. They give you a large amount of meat but only a few tortillas. Then we asked for more and were charged for them. Considering the price of the entree I thought that was ridiculous.

Group of six including two small children. We went last night, a Wednesday, and had great time! The staff there truly makes you feel welcome, from the bartender to the waitstaff and including the wonderful mariachi band. The food was excellent with good size portions, and the prices were affordable. Cant wait to go back again!

Outstanding restaurant. Service was excellent, food was excellent, decor and ambiance was great as was the mariachi band (Wed night only). HIGHLY recommend for Mexican food afficianados! Was impressed that the owner personally checked with us and every other customer in the restaurant to be sure their service was up to par.

Being from Texas we have pretty high expectations when it comes to mexican restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised to find this little gem just down the road from our airport hotel. Food was great and service was fantastic. Very friendly staff. Good margaritas. No fake lime mixer taste here. Visited on 2 different trips.

After a long flight I was in search of some good, quick food. This place was recommended by a local resident. No joke, the food was out before I knew it and the service was great! The food was spot on and very satisfying. Very happy that I went here and will stop in next time Im flying out of MKE or just in the area!

My coworker and I are in Milwaukee for work training and we wanted to get a bite to eat. We drove down the block from our hotel and saw this place and stopped in. The food was excellent and the service was great. Portion sizes were just right and prices were reasonable. Will definitely be going back there again.

Id driven past this place a thousand times assuming that it wouldnt be worth a visit, but I finally stopped in and was pleasantly surprised. The decor is nice, the staff good, theres a bar, and the food is quite a bit better than I would have expected from what looks like a "hole-in-the-wall near the airport".

Authentic, affordable Mexican cuisine served in a warm and cozy setting by friendly servers. The standard menu is full of traditional Mexican foods, but there are always some unusual and delicious specials. Not the best Guacamole Ive ever had, but an otherwise exceptional eatery despite the silly name.

Jalepeno Loco has some of the best Mexican in the area. The Oaxacan menu has the standard fair but also has restaurant specialties and a changing specials menu. The soups are fantastic, as are the drinks. The staff are very attentive and accommodating. Oh, and did I mention the food is awesome?!?!

Best Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin. For years, decades, Jalapeño Loco has been one of Milwaukees best kept secrets. This is real Mexican cuisine, perfected and inventive. The specials regularly delight, but even ordering from the menu will amaze you.
