Hands down, this is not only my favorite Mexican restaurant, this is my favorite restaurant, PERIOD!!! I work right across the street and I have to say, these folks make Mexican food as authentic as you can get it. It used to be an old Pizza Hut and it is diagonal from the 7-Eleven gas station in conjunction with the mini mall. My favorite from here is pretty simple, steak tacos with cilantro, onion, and their red hot sauce. Best damn sauce youll ever eat. The chips and salsa are my next favorite. In fact, everything on their menu looks good and Ive tried almost all of it. This place beats any Mexican restaurant in the city of Chicago. I have given these guys so much money and I will continue to. The owner is very nice and the staff is fantastic. They work hard and enjoy doing what they do. I feel like Ive cheated when I go to another Mexican restaurant but unfortunately I dont live close and now I work Midnights so its hard to catch them when they are open. The prices are very affordable and portions are huge. Youre sure to get full on any of the dinners you order. This place is far from the fanciest but its clean and well maintained. They serve free chips and salsa when you dine in which is a steal once you see how good it is. Ive never had steak so marinated and flavored in all my life. They also are one of the few Mexican restaurants that cut their steak very fine so that helps to avoid eating a big piece of fat and such. I want to make this review longer because I want people to take this seriously but Ill stop here... EAT AT LOS COMPADRES!.

I was looking for a good Mexican restaurant close to my work for ny lunch hour, so I stopped in to give this place a try. Horrible decision. The staff was super sweet and attentive, but the food.. oh my god, the food. I ordered the chicken enchilada verde plate and the chicken was just dry and flavorless. The verde sauce was bland and had zero kick. The enchiladas were smothered in an unnecessarily large amount of semi melted cheese. The rice and beans were tasteless as well. I ordered a small cheese quesadilla as well, and again, just too much cheese and zero flavor. I thought I could save it all with some horchata, but I was wrong. It was chalky and it tasted more like rice pudding than rice milk. The only decent thing I ate was the starting chips and salsa. I had high hopes for this place considering all the great reviews, but I was sorely disappointed. I would not recommend.

The service suck - Anoche fuimos, la mesera bien pinche agressiva se mostró con un carácter poco Cortés agresiva y no nos atendieron a pesar k yegamos antes k otras persona y desde k yegamos estamos listos para ordenar siempre vamos ahí los sábados en la noche pero el servicio de anoche fue pésimo - La comida muy buena - Lástima que tengan meseras tan poco profesionales.

Honestly the food I got was pretty disgusting. I ordered a taco dinner with 2 Lengua and 1 Tripas tacos and of course rice and beans...the Lengua had zero flavor and the Tripas tasted like they werent cleaned out. The beans also had no flavor and smelled like they were going bad *yuck* rice was still hard and tasteless. I thought the salsas would help out but they were just as flavorless as the rest of the food. I pretty much just tasted everything and threw out my food. They had great service but I wont be going there anymore; if you want amazing salsas and great food then I recommend La Presa on Rand and Dundee. I will definitely continue to make the trip for La Presa :)

If you like warm chips served with salsa that has a little heat and a lot of flavor and corn tortilla tacos then this is your place!! My wife and I absolutely enjoyed Los Compadres. The staff was friendly and respectful! We were there for lunch this week when they were short handed. My water never ran out (they refilled it 3 times) and they did not make us feel rushed. Our waiter even took the extra time to explain different plates and gave us tips on how to pronounce them correctly. Id go here again.

I have tried many other Mexican restaurants in the area and hands down this place has the best stake burritos and tacos around, tasty and well marinated meat that melts in your mouth, I like the burritos so much I buy a bulk and freeze them so when I crave it I always have it. Friendly stuff and owners are always there to look over everything, highly recommend this place.

Wow idk know how to describe, The tortas and burritos are so damm delicious good, I live in the south side of Chicago, in a neighborhood where theres a lot of Mexican restaurants, Yeah I know I could go to close restaurant and buy me a torta or burrito, But it just doesnt taste that great, If you looking for a good ass torta or burrito, this the place where to get it

This Place is amazing. The Food is always Fresh, the Staff amazingly helpful. You seriously cannot find better food like this for 10 miles in any direction. As for the complaints about the Decor...Once you begin to eat, you dont care that it isnt a museum. If you LOVE and I mean LOVE traditional Mexican food..this place simply cannot be beat.

Ive had their steak burritos here, those are the closest to the delicious burritos I used to eat as a child in my neighborhood taqueria. Tacos are great too, and try their guacamole with the nachos. This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area, although I havent been to many near Mount Prospect, but definitely near Wheeling, etc.

Great consitent Mexican food all the time! Never had a greasy burrito from this place. One of the best Mexican restaurants around the area & very precise on the orders for pick up! Always busy = Always good My go to place for that "what do you want to eat for dinner?"question.

Authentic mexican food. I loved their pozole but I wouldnt recommend the enchiladas verdes they tasted kind of blend, the salsa wasnt that flavorful and the chicken had too many spices. Overall I do like their food and I recommend pozole and carne asada.

Delicious Mexican food. Lots of choices on what to order, and not expensive. The personnel is always asking if everything is ok. I personally liked the choice of music videos they had on tv. country music!

Food is pretty good service is fine gets crowded and the parking is terrible there are too many small shops in the really small strip that youll be lucky to find a parking right outside Los Compadres

Best Mexican coffee anywhere. Good food and good service, but that coffee is always fresh and tasty. They say they just brew it with cinnamon, but I think it must be something magical.
