These people dont even deserve 1star from me. I called to place a order for lunch as I only have a 30 minute lunch. When I arrived to the restaurant the woman at the cash register was EXTREMELY RUDE. She didnt even greet me, she just put her finger up and said "hold on" when she came back to the register, I told her I placed a order over the phone. She went in the kitchen and came back empty handed and said " we dont have your order" I told her exactly the time that I called it in and what I ordered and she went back to the kitchen and spoke to the chef and he had no idea what was going on ( Im pretty sure hes the one i spoke to) she came back insinuated that I was lying about placing the order. She didnt even apologize for the mistake she just gave me a dirty look.... I WILL NEVER EVER EAT HERE AGAIN. I am usually not the type to post reviews but I am speechless on how bad the service was. IF YOU WANT GOOD MEXICAN FOOD GO TO LA GUADALAJARA on park st they have the best mexican food in madison and have wonderful customer service. I have never had a problem with them and their food is delicious....

I used to like this place a lot, but the past two times I went there, the service was horrible. The food came out in styrofoam to-go containers, despite the fact that we were dining in the restaurant. When I asked for some silverware to eat my meal, they brought me the smallest, cheapest plastic fork and knife imaginable. They got our orders wrong, and they were very rude to my vegetarian friend who sent her food back for containing meat. The worst part is that they station a security guard in the little dining room whose main job it is to nag customers into bussing their own tables. I will definitely not be going back there.

This is one of the best places to get "authentic" Mexican food near State Street in Madison. The irony there is that I am not a huge fan of authentic Mexican. The food is exactly what you would expect from a slightly divey Mexican quick service spot. Solid flavors, with the tacos being probably the best item on the menu. The pricing is very reasonable, but I generally will go to places that are a bit more Tex Mex. But for those of you who are all about authenticity, there are few better options in Madison. Check it out next time you finish your bar crawl!

I give the food a five...as for the service I have yet to discover that. Los Gemelos catered the Day of the Dead festivities at Edgewood College and the food was delicious. I have not eaten at the one on Gilman St. yet but theyd better be on their best behavior if I do or my party and I will walk out and make it known why to the staff. Mexican food should be served with love and I was so disappointed to read those bad reviews. If they are true then shame on Los Gemelos for hiring staff who dont know how to treat the customers!

I love absolutely love the food at Los Gemelos, but the staff is probably the most unfriendly, even rude, staff at any restaurant I have ever eaten at. Im not basing this off a one-time experience--I go here regularly. The staff makes you feel unwelcome and unwanted, and the late-night security lady is one of the most unpleasant people Ive been around. With that said, if youre looking for great food for a fair price and dont expect anything over one-star service, I would definitely recommend Los Gemelos.

This place has a great atmosphere and setup but its really lacking in the food department. The guacamole Im pretty sure came from a tube, it was more liquid than solid when it was served. The tacos were decent, but its hard to screw up tacos. I also got the recommended chilaquiles but everything was subpar except for the rice and refried beans, which Im certain wasnt made inhouse. The steak that came with it was flavorless and tough. Service was good though. Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5

I have a friend who swears by this place. She always gets great food. I, on the other hand, have been there twice with little luck. The waitress (I assume she part of the family who owns it) is always bland and has little patience. The place looks and feels like a hole in the wall, and the food is mediocre half the time. The only thing that can be said about the place is that the prices are cheap.

Next time youre walking down State Street to Qdoba or Chipotle, do yourself a huge favor and veer off onto Gilman instead. Los Gemelos is authentic, inexpensive, & tasty. Love their take on quesadillas- instead of pressing the fillings between two tortillas, they wrap everything in a blanket of soft buttery cornmeal. Not sure what its called, but I like it! If tamales are on special, dont miss em.

Im from Texas so itvery hard to find good authentic mexican food. The food at Los Gemelos Restaurant was mouth watering! The environment was very home-like. They checked on me multiple times and were very friendly. My search for real mexican food is over, thanks to Los Gemelos! I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who hasnt tried it out!

The food is filling yet dull, I go here cause I am hungry and not cause I want some good food. Dont get me wrong, the food is not bad, its just meh. Also try not to bring your 10 year old kids cause they have half naked people singing Mexican pop songs on television. Customer service is good and I hope you guys tip them well. Peace.

Have been here several times and whenever I order enchiladas, they are always served cold. Not good. Food is just okay. Margs are meh as well. As far as service goes, its not good. Ive had some very unfriendly experiences with rude servers. Try being polite to customers, theyre the ones keeping you in business.

If you see the "crappy" pictures on the wall for the food you know its good... I lived in southern California for 4 years and miss the tequila and amazing Mexican... This comes close to the AUTHENTIC Mexican I am used to.. a little pricey for Mexican... But its right off state street.. soo yea eat up Amazing!!!

My favorite Taco spot in town. Food is inexpensive, filling and very delicious. I personally reccommend the authentic fried quesodillas plain with cheese and salsa verde, but the tacos al pastor are also out of this world EDIT: cant stop eating the quesodillas. This time i had them with pork.

Great little restaurant just off of State Street. The food is excellent. I had two tacos and both were generous with fillings, cilantro, and cebolla. I also had a quesadilla and it was thick and cheesy, almost like a Mexican calzone. Service was pretty good and the atmosphere was not bad.

These are the most tastiest tacos in all of Madison. Why are you reading this review and not eating delicious tacos? They could be in your mouth right now for only $2! I recommend tacos with some Horchata to drink. Nom nom nom nom nom! I have dreams about these tacos. Im not kidding.

The Chili Rellanos were the best I have ever had. The sauce made all the difference. Although the atmosphere is a ho-hum cross between a take-out and a dine-in place, the food was excellent the night I was there. I wanted to go back but I ran out of time in Madison.
