I eat out regularly, 2-3 a week for the past 6-8 years. and this is the first negative review Ive ever written on a restaurant. by far the worst service Ive ever seen. hostess was polite but she was the only one. waiter rolled his eyes at us multiple times when requesting something (complicated requests like water refills), when he brought the check he simply waved it at us even though we asked up front for separate checks (there were 3 couples). lastly, the apparent manager (blond lady doing paperwork at the bar) verbally scoffed at our request for an extra glass so we could water down a drink because the long island was mostly sour mix. wont ever go back and recommend this place get a new manager or owner quickly.

I live around the corner from this place, and I eat there quite a bit as a result, so I can say with much experience that this place is neither very bad nor very good. Its a typical Mexican eatery for the area, comparable to La Hacienda and Chapultapec. Much better food for the price can be found at Las Delicias down the street on Quince or Park, and even better food (possibly the best in Memphis but rather pricey) at Las Tortugas Deli Mexicana down on Germantown Parkway. However, if youre in a pinch and have to eat here, its decent enough that you should go home full and happy (hopefully), though weve been disappointed in poor quality of food occasionally.

We recently went to the Germantown location for a late dinner. The host at the podium didnt seem too interested in seating us and left the menus on the table and walked away without any further comment. The chips and salsa came out fairly quickly, but that person seemed quite disinterested too. We never spoke with a waiter and walked out after sitting there for 15 minutes. I spoke to the "host" at the podium as we left, but he could hardly be bothered to look up from his phone. We have had spotty service at this location before, but this was over the top. We wont be going back.

The salsa is just tomato puree. The chile colorado had an acid taste (like it was starting the fermentation process) and the carnitas had no flavor. Both left me with no appetite. The only good thing was the guacamole, where the cilantro gave it a good twist of flavor. Wont come back, unless its for guacamole to go.

went there for lunch last week ...food was good. my buddy found a roach in his ice tea. yes a Cock Roach! I will never come back.the health department needs to inspect this place.

This is one of the better El Porton locations in the Greater Memphis area. Great for a quick bite and not crowded during weekday lunch hours. Pricing is really fair too.
