After hearing about this place for some time, we finally had a chance to come and try it out. With my two favorite dudes (my 2.5 year old and 10 month old) in tow, we stopped in for a late morning carb fest and were excited about what we found! The choices, as mentioned elsewhere, were a bit limited, but gave us enough to choose from. The three of us shared a chocolate dipped orange cookie and a spicy cheese baguette with salmon. Both were excellent. The cookie was good enough in fact that little man ate the whole thing and not just the chocolate - a high compliment reserved for the top 3% of cookies. The baguette was solid as well. Not overly complex, but good bread and nice salmon made for a nice treat on that sunny day in April! The coffee was standard- good not great, and the only thing keeping them from 5 stars was the overall dearth of a ton of pastry options. This is the sort of place I want to find a dozen things I love and come buy them for everyone at the office! An absolute must for anyone in the area and a great spot for folks visiting.

I used Essencia Bakery for my wedding on May 3, 2008. We decided to serve their “killer brownies” that you can get in their coffee shop. Ivon was very pleasant to work with, and we discussed different options for maximizing the sheet of brownies. She provided suggestions based on what we were looking for. We cut the brownies in half (we made two smaller triangles out of the huge squares that they normally serve in the store) and they looked cool and the smaller size was a perfect serving for a wedding. I didn’t shop around based on price, so they may have been a little more expensive than other options (I’m not really sure) but they were really tasty and definitely worth it!! I was very happy with everything, and would definitely recommend Essencia for deserts for your wedding or party.

Essencia provides a great healthy and light lunch along with beautiful pastries and freshly baked breads. They also make great espresso drinks using beans that have been roasted to their own specification. The atmosphere is cozy and artistic, often times with local artists work on the walls. Not only can you go in for lunch, but they always have European pasties of various varieties that they will box up for you and you can take home. Selection varies depending on the time of year, upcoming holidays and available ingredients. The have the flakiest croissants and chocolate croissants. They will take special orders for bread items and are a full service bakery capable of doing wedding and event cakes.

Essencia is one of the best places to eat in Yakima. Their lunch specials are amazing. For 8 dollars you can get gourmet soup, salad AND half a sandwich. A few of my favorites are the Curry Sweet Potato soup, Quinoa and Beets salad and Chicken Salad sandwich or their wraps are all delicious. Of course they are a bakery so they have an assortment of tasty pastries and cakes. Their Rosemary Olive Oil Orange cake is a gourmet treat, if you have never tasted it, you are missing out. This delicious cake could be a signature of the best of Yakima. Keep in mind they only serve lunch during the week.

Chocolate Croissant was fine but microwaved. Sandwich has LOTS of bread but not much filling. Sweet potato soup was very good. But the thing that made me give this place two stars was the fruit salad...seriously...YOURE IN YAKIMA in August. There is nothing but amazing fruit here. Why are you serving pineapple and last years apples?

Very friendly staff. The place smells absolutely amazing tons of fresh made baked goods and I have to say Im not a huge fan of hot chocolate but theyve had the best hot chocolate Ive ever tasted. While I was there I had jam and bread which seems like a very simple dish to have at a bakery. It was far from simple it was simplistic Elegance

Absolutely my favorite place to eat in town. I am consistently there for their lunch special which includes a sandwich, soup and salad. The service is amazing and the desserts are to die for. All the staff is very friendly and make sure to make you feel very welcome.

Interesting spot with character. Its cozy and a fun place to take people to a local business. They have great pastries. The hard part about this place is they dont have a lot of vegetarian or vegan options. They have good coffee options and lunch options otherwise.

The food is average, dont eat the chicken croissant or youll be having a reflux all day besides high amounts of salt on your bloodstream. Owner arrogant without any signs of improvement.
