Its a nice little local gathering place. Has a neighborhood bar feel. The outside seating area looks like it would be worth another visit in nice weather. Would have to agree with another reviewer on the food. Competently prepared but uninspired and a bit pricey for what you get. Its just basic tavern food so 8.50 for a burger seemed a tad high. Its priced at 6.50 for a basic burger then 1.00 for each add on. 1.00 to add cheese? Ok. But 1.00 for a few shoe string onions? Not so much. It was also cooked to the point of dry and chewy. Staff was attentive although they seemed surprised to see non regulars and didnt really say anything when we walked in so we werent sure they were actually open as we were the only ones there. Everyone showed up at 3 for happy hour as we were leaving. And maybe thats the secret for food. Come in from 3-6 to get a good deal. I think this place could expand outside just the local neighborhood coming in if they got someone to come up with some more unique and inspired menu items. It needs a couple signature dishes and they need to be outstanding to carry the other mundane fare.

I really wanted to like this place, but I just cant. They only had a couple beers on tap. I ordered cheesecake for me and my girlfriend and they brought out a freezer burnt, ice covered slice of plain cheesecake that was obviously the type you would buy at a supermarket. The waiter just said, "Sorry its a little frozen but should still taste good." and then left. I had to go to the bar to pay because they pretty much forgot about us after that. The decor is very confused mixing vintage, rock, beer culture, and country. The menu was small and the cheesecake was the only thing we thought we wanted on the menu. The music was all country when I was there but I dont know if that is consistent either. On the plus side, the prices were decent and the patio looked like it would be nice in better weather.

Today is the second time I have gone to The Rusty Chain for lunch and I was not disappointed either time. I had the spinach salad w/chicken the first time and it was delicious and very filling and my husband had the Turkey/bacon/avocado sandwich which he said was excellent. Today, I had their special - Homemade Chili w/cheese and onions, side salad, and corn bread and it was absolutely fantastic. My other friends each had something different (French Dip, Philly Cheese, Club, Tuna (albacore) sandwich, and a Turkey/Bacon/Avocado sandwich and everyone said the food was great. The owner, Bill, and staff are very friendly. We will definitely return! Check out their menu - its on line.

Very friendly atmosphere and staff. The menu is small and uninspired, but the food is always competently prepared. I feel like they could aim a little higher. But as long as you dont go in expecting "gastro pub" style food, youll be pleased. Full bar and a small, but well-rounded tap list.
