Like the McMenamins out of the way. You have to find it, and once you do, youll be glad youve arrived. In outdoor ambient low-light conditions, all of the hanging amber glass lamps give it a bygone patina. Maybe sometime in teh (LOL Cat) late 1960s through to the late 1970s. Yet non-descript and asynchronic. The exterior is a strip mall, and some may complain, yet it works for me and it fits well in the NE Vancouver area where it may be a McMenamins la ment to East Vancouver, WA urban sprawl. If you can call it sprawl. (Go to Spokane or some urban regions in Texas. Mixes with the heat each of those locales gasp in.) The ales on tap are standard McMenamins with a unique kickers brewed on location. Though the era of Captain Neons Fermentation Chamber passed some time ago for McMenamins (founded at the McMenamins Fulton Pub) the ales are still good. Yet its not 1989 anymore there or for Sierra Nevada. The seating is plentiful at the long, long, long bar and in the dining area. And Thursdays through Sat-Your-Days from the afternoon well into the mid or so evening are full of revelers including the McMenamins East Vancouver in their social plans for the day. Also gets busy during weekday luncheons. The menu has the familiar McMenamins offerings. My fave is (Kens) Communication Breakdown Burger. The tater tots. I cannot go wrong with the tater tots. Such a sweetness about tater tots that you may recall as a child. Well, I do. It chokes me up sometimes to be able to get the tater tots like you can at McMenamins and no where else. The salads are really good to. Its not all burger and fried potato fare! Like all places NE West, from like Yreka, CA all the way up, the place can be full, and its not like loud-loud. You can speak to people with nearly a normal voice. The music McMenamins is quite alright and not ever too loud. Parking a-plenty!

Been going to different Locations for years. They recently put a $1 up charge on salad substitute for fries on an entree. Im a chef and I know food costs. Fine charge more but bring me more than 2 Oz please... Oh and a burger should have a patty.... When someone has to sit while everyone else eats, COMP THIER MEAL, OFFER THE COMP. There was no manager on shift on a packed night. $130 bill deserves better service and corporate protocol than this. I dont like RR, but the server would have felt empowered to do the right thing and it wouldve cost LESS for the same quality of product, in this case sub level by far.. Come on. We are done. Never again and I will be sharing this experience with many others who I know are on the line but Ive talked you up . If you charge that much at least make it worth it. You were different once. NOW MCMINEMINES IS JUST AN OVER PRICED RED ROBIN WITH A DIFFERENT LOOK... :( anybody can brew beer. Dont ride on that one product.

Monday, April 4th. around 5:30 pm I have been to this place beforea few years back This, Monday was a little different. The food was good, the waitress was prompt and she was attentive and did go the extra mile to accommodate, though she treated other patrons differently by her body language, and seemed not to like men, our table, or maybe we just were not the right kind of people that she is used to there. I was very polite though, even though I wanted to call her on her behavior that was pretty obvious. He expression was angry. Maybe something was wrong that day with her. When looking for the restrooms, they are not really marked so I went the wrong way to look for them , some other server who was busy standing and talking to his friends/customers yelled the bathrooms are that way in a pretty loud voice. I didnt ask him for directions and the way he raised his voice to say the directions was odd and out of place.

Todays greeting was quite poor as no one acknowledge that Ive been standing waiting to be seated. After finally being seated they forgot about me and I finally had to ask for service. My Bloody Mary just awful and there was more mary on the outside of my glass then inside. In other words the glass had the blend all down the glass quite messy. I come here from time to time bringing friends and family since this location is closer. I will start making the drive to Portland. I didnt know my french fries could be so soft and not twice cooked like potato chips which was part of my order with my Wilbur burger which the meat was supposed to be medium rare and its not. I must say Im disappointed this time. Will take a break from this location for a while at 162nd Vancouver, WA. Like some places it can be a hit or miss, today was definitely a MISS. smh

Have been here several times over the years, unfortunately it seems like they are typically understaffed and lack true customer service. I had ordered a burrito a few years back that showed up on table still frozen, like not cold, I mean straight out of the freezer frozen. I didnt have time to wait for them to take another order etc., whats weird is that they didnt even comp my drink in an attempt to make it less painful. Now if I do go there I usually sit at or near the bar so I can hopefully get a drink within a reasonable amount of time, and I never order food there anymore. In fact I usually go over to Mars next door and put an order in for take out then walk over here for a drink while I wait for my take out.

You pretty much always know what youre getting when you go to a McMenamins and this location is pretty much like any other. Well, at least the menu is. The biggest draw of the McMenamins pubs and hotels is the unique location/building, whether its the Edgefields sprawling estate with its charming rooms and bars or the "...on the Columbia" restaurant and its riverfront views. This location, though, is just the corner of a strip mall. Yes, its a better option than the Wendys across the street, but its certainly not a place youd go out of your way to visit like so many of the other McMenamins locations.

As with most McMenamins, the beer & wine is excellent, the food is typical bar food and the service is friendly but slow. They have recently added some new menu items that are worth trying. They have a pizza oven now and are offering a variety of styles of pizza. They have also updated their happy hour menu to have more variety (and much more in line with other McMenamins). If you are in a hurry, I certainly wouldnt recommend this place, but if you want a neat old-world style pub experience, with good beer and friendly servers this is well worth it!

The three stars is a measure against other McMenamins, and not against other restaurants. Anyone familiar with McMenamins, you know that each restaurant has a unique setting and character. Maybe an old house, or resort... something to make it a cool place to eat. This one is basically a stripmall restaurant. Dont get me wrong... the food was good and the staff was pleasant. But it was not up to the standards of the usual McMenamins in my opinion.
