I have been going to Valeries since it opened. Lately I have been ordering the Rib eye for breakfast. I have never had to send it back. But today I had to send it back twice . I ordered Medium Well. The waitress said when she brought my food out. How did you order your steak. I told her she responded oh I didnt remember. Needless to say it was under cook. I had to send it back. The waitress came back with the eggs and hash browns and said you can start on this. I said no I want to eat them with my steak. She said ok I will put this under the warmer. She later returned with my food. Only to find out the steak was still under cook. So it went from being Rare to being Medium Rare. She took it back and then had them to fix new eggs and hash browns. She said 3rd time is a charm. I drink Decaf she tried to refill my cup with Regular coffee. So I asked to speak to Valeries was took she just left to do shopping. Then I asked for a box and that person said Valerie comes in every now and then. I asked who was in charge. Then Tori the manager comes over. And I told her about the experience. She responded oh we must have someone different cooking the steaks. I said that is not an excuse. I said because of this I am going to be late to an appointment. And someone should adjust my bill for the inconveniences. She said well they did get it right now and you are taking it home. I told her I eat out all the time. Example if this happens any where is they adjust your bill because it shouldnt have taken these many times to get it right. I said I wont be coming back. She said you are going to base one bad experience on you not returning. I said no I am basing it on how you handle it. I asked for the number to call Valerie. She said I am her daughter. I said ok and. And writing this the best form of advertising is word of mouth. It does not matter how long you have been in business or who you are news travels fast especially with social media. But before I do that I want to give Valerie the owner a chance.

Decided to check this place out after a recommendation from some friends of ours, and I can safely say this will be the only time I step foot here. Theres a line for breakfast which is no big deal, however maybe they should have a sign letting people know that YOU have to sign in so you can assure yourself of getting a table! There is no bus staff to clear the tables, so the wait staff does it when they see fit to getting around to it. Several tables were available to be cleaned during the 50 minute wait to be seated. Instead of servers cleaning tables as people finished eating, they wouldnt be cleaned until 5-10 minutes later, but they made sure to pick up their tips! Once we were eventually seated we put in our drink order with one of the staff members. She brought over waters, juices and silverware and napkins. I noticed that she hadnt brought my sons drink so I commented that he ordered an apple cider. She responded "I know. I only have two hands to carry all of this stuff." When she brought his cider, she sits it heavily down on the table and walks away. How about handing it to him since he was the one who ordered it? Our food order didnt take long to come out once we were able to put in our order with our server, which wasnt with the same person we place our drink order with. Once our food was delivered that was the last time we saw our server until we had to get her attention to bring our bill. If a place is that busy during peak times, maybe there should be more staff scheduled to handle the rush! I was really looking forward to eating here, but given the sub par service and funky attitude of the person who seated us, well never be back!!!

Good food, long wait and mediocre service. My son and I have a rule to only go to breakfast before 10...Usually its not that busy. This place was packed at 8:30, standing room only and no menus, magazines, toys or other distractions. The waiting area was small. The busy-ness seemed atypical, considering the staffing. It was mostly filled with 2-top couples and occasional families of 4. My coffee was cold by the time someone came over to ask for silverware (the server didnt notice when he took my order). The food took a long time to make and my sons came about 5 to 10 minutes after mine. The server apologized for that, which suggested an ordering issue. When the server came to deliver my sons food, I asked for a box. I didnt see him again for at least 20 minutes after eating, going to the bathroom and waiting at the cash register to pay. I had to wait for the three people behind me to get processed before they looked for him. The food was good, not amazing. The portions were large, leaving leftovers. The bathroom was clean. I didnt see any changing tables in the mens room, something I usually notice. I would give it a second chance in the future, though according to google, they tend to get busy around 9 and it looks like the only non-commercial diner in the area.

I have worked in restaurants all of my life and owned two restaurants in Portland before retiring in 2000. I have seen restaurants come and go and often times I can spot a potential failure even before it opens. When I saw Valeries open in my neighborhood, I thought "O boy, here we go again". A friend and neighbor encouraged me to have breakfast at Valeries and I was pleasantly surprised. Although this place lacks ambience, the service was rapid, food was good and the the value was outstanding. I have been back several times and everything has always been spot on. Although some reviews for this place are unfavorable, you must remember that not everyone is at their best all of the time. You might go to eat at this place 20 times and experience slow service once or twice but is that a reason to stop going? Valerie is almost always working the floor and making customer contact. I admire and respect her for what she has done here. Her wait staff is smiling and super friendly, the food generally comes flying out of the kitchen, my coffee cup has never gone empty and it is an excellent value. Valerie has created a winning combination and I wish her all of the success in the world.

We went there today to celebrate my other halfs birthday. We have been going there for years. I have had terrible food on occasion and have said so to the staff. My other half never says anything he present to confrontations well. He just says it and tells me. The last time we were in the messed up his food really bad I complained. Today they burnt his fish so bad I couldnt break it with a fork. The owner Valerie came to our table causing a scene in front of everyone and bluntly said I will not remake this food. Then proceeded to tell him he complains about his food all the time. Which as I stated before he never says anything this was appalling to me and I asked the waitress because thats what Valerie said she was told. The waitress says that she did not say that. At this point it doesent matter we went there cause its close and he had to work. So for his birthday he didnt get to eat this morning was treated like scum and was called a liar all from the owner of a restaurant in our community. We will never be back there. I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TODAY.
