When other reviewers say that the front cashier/waiter man is rude they werent kidding. This is my second time coming here. This time I came with my fiance and my best friend that was visiting from North Dakota. First thing, my fiance began to order and was cut off and ignored by the waiter who asked what kind of drink I wanted. My fiance was like, "oops, sorry my bad." Then, (I was not feeling well this day) so I ordered some Miso soup and for my main dish I ordered Ramen. I know two different soups seems a little odd but I really wasnt feeling well and just felt like eating something easy on the stomach and figured each soup would have its own individual taste anyway. When the man brought me my Miso soup he put it on my fiances space on the table. I grabbed it and began eating. He came over to our table and said, "Give that soup to him. Youre already getting soup." I was already shocked by the statement but I said, "I know. This is mine as well." and he continued on, "youre already getting soup. You dont need two soups." Then he made this gesture with his hand and is stomach as if he was making a big belly calling me fat for getting two soups. In front of my fiance and best friend. It was humiliating and so rude. I dont often write reviews but this experience required it. Lastly, when I handed him our payment he "shooed" my hand away as if I was annoying him and that he wanted to pick the bill off of the table on his own. Will NEVER go back here again. EVER.

Ordered dinner from here. We couldnt find the menu so we called in simple teriyaki and eggrolls. We called & ordered 3 eggrolls. The guy read the order back to me including the 3 eggrolls. I went to go pick it up and had to ask for an itemized receipt (after my card was charged) to figure out why it was so high. I realized they sell their eggrolls in orders of 2. They gave me 6 eggrolls total for $10.50. Honest mistake. I went back into the restaurant and explained that I did not want 6 eggrolls, I wanted 3. I was not aware they sold eggrolls in 2 pieces- my mistake. but I clearly ordered 3 eggrolls (even specifiying to him 3) and if they only sell them in orders of 2- I would take 2. That I didnt want the other 4. He argued and argued with me. I told him that he should have mentioned something about orders of 2 eggrolls while I was ordering. He took the eggrolls back- I asked him to return the money to the card. He asked if it was OK if he just gave me $7 cash back. I agree- although it shorted me $.56 its fine. THEN I check my bank account this morning and not only did they charge my card the entire amount. They added on another $7 after the tip without me authorizing it.

Extremely unacceptable service by a female server. My fiancé and I had an terribly embarrassing experience here. On top of a couple rolls, my fiancé ordered some nigiri and there was such a language barrier that the server couldnt understand what he was saying. I tried to help explain but that didnt work. When our food came out, the nigiri was incorrect. When we told the server that this isnt what we ordered, she RUDELY INSISTED that it is. We werent even upset. She started arguing with us and pointed her finger at my fiancé and then myself as if we ordered wrong saying "no, you said." We said that we didnt want this nigiri and she continued to argue and wouldnt take it back. It was really embarrassing because we were just trying to talk to the server and she didnt care and just embarrassed us in front of everyone else -its a very small restaurant and every seat was full. And on top of this, there was an additional $1 added to the bill that she couldnt explain. No matter how good your food is, if you service is this bad, I will never go back.

Horrible experience! I have spent hundreds of dollars on sushi at Flying Fish because the sushi is delicious but I had an awful encounter with the owner/person working the cash register after politely asking for extra ginger with my sushi order. After asking for extra ginger the owner rolled his eyes and sighed. I asked him if that was a problem and he told me that if they had been busy that he would not have been able to provide me with extra ginger. I reminded him that I has asked for extra ginger when I placed my order over the phone. I told the owner that I thought that it was ridiculous that he was having issues with providing me with extra ginger and that I would be happy to stop doing business with him and take my money and business elsewhere.

Flying Fish has been around for some number of years in North Tacoma, and its been a long friendship with my stomach! The food is very well presented and very tasty! The staff is very polite and always offers help to any questions I have had, even though they are usually very busy! I have taken many friends here for a quick bite of sushi and have gotten many meals to go. P.S. While I dont generally go out of my way to negate a review, Ginger Finn is either a competitor, liar, or very obtuse individual as she has written nearly the same exact review about Flying Fish and Fusion Bento. Aside from the horrible spelling and grammar, the similarity between the reviews is too coincidental. Please dont rate either establishment based on her review.

First of all, the advertise they have beer and alcohol. So we order a beer but they are all out? The sushi also took over 45 minutes....and there was only one person running the front/all the tables/phone, and take out orders.. We were disappointed because it is usually good. The prices are also way too high for the sushi they give. I ordered nigiri sushi, and I couldnt even bite into the fish. The server also made us move in the middle of our dinner. Weird experience, would not recommend it. Try Fujiyi sushi in downtown tacoma instead

The food here is delicious. A menu offering well prepared and fresh sushi in addition to a tasty array of dishes ranging from more traditional pan-oriental to some of my favorite interpretations of Asian-American cuisine has kept me returning to sample a decent portion of what they have to offer. Most of the menu is a few dollars more than similar restaurants but the teriakis are actually a little bit cheaper. As to the people who claim they were ripped off? Im betting they just arent smart enough to add things up correctly.

This is the best sushi place in the North End of Tacoma without a doubt. The quality is superb, they are usually quick for take-out (and dine in). The older gentlemen who runs the front is a tad abrasive and doesnt say much but has a heart of gold. Highly suggest to anyone looking for quality Sushi in Tacoma. Warning: Dine in only has a few tables so it can be busy at peak hours.
