Im going to write this as an open letter to Taco Del Mar. I have been a customer since 1996 and have frequently cited you as my favorite fast food restaurant. I used to drop by for an enormous burrito for which I paid less than $4. Here we are less than 20 years later and I now pay between $5.50 and $6.50 for a burrito that varies in size from location to location but is never really as big as the one I used to get for around $3.50. Consistency is a huge issue across your network of restaurants. I realize that this is probably due to franchisees being overly protective of their bottom line but its your name that theyre doing harm to. I dont even bother ordering your taco salad anymore because sometimes in comes in a bowl so small it practically qualifies as finger food. Your fish tacos, once the pride of your company, are now soggy messes. Yesterday I partook of a disgusting lunch with a Mondo Burrito that was roughly 1/2 the size of the first one I had at your Queen Anne location back in 1996. The rice was dried out and crunchy and the meat was chewy and overcooked. The fish taco was so soggy that it fell apart while I was trying to eat it. Its hard to say it because Ive loved you for so long but I think Im done. I guess that there are a few locations that I still like and might drop by every now and again but none of them are near where I live so I guess Im moving on to Qdoba or other options. This is a sad day for me.

I originally wanted to go to Chipotle, but ended up taking a wrong bus before heading to the Wal-Mart in the same area as this Taco Del Mar. So I ended up here. It was actually my second time eating here, first being when I came by at a lunch. However, I didnt like it the first time, but I wanted to give it a second shot to see if it would be different. Wasnt really. The food here isnt that amazing and I dont know how people can really give it such praise. While it isnt bad, it certainly tastes like something you could whip up at home in a few minutes. The beans taste like plain old canned beans from the store and the rice and chicken have no real flavor. Its pretty costly too for how bland it is. My meal was about 8 bucks for a burrito, chips and drink. The portion was large sure, but I like flavor over size. Frankly for the same price, you could get the same thing at Chipotle (which I think tastes a lot better). The rest of the resturant is good though. The servers were nice and the enviornment was clean so I give them credits for that. The only flaw is the bland food.
