I went on a tuesday night at 6:30. This was my second time here, i was dying to eat in one of the tatami rooms. i thought it would be neat to experience this. The waitress guided me towards a table, all the rooms were empty. I asked if we could sit in one, she took us over and put us in the tatani. Everything went bad from the start. First she ignorned us, we actually timed her, it took 20 mts for her just to come and take our order. we ordered 2 beers and tea. In about another 20 mts she brought them with the bottle caps still on. one was a twist top the other i could take off. we had to ask her to open the beer. She then asks us, "Whats wrong, you cant take off?" She finally opens it, doesnt even pour it into the glass. Once she came and took our orders, i put in a order for some sushi, i asked for 4 different types of sushi, each one was out, at this point im getting frustrated and wondering what did i do to deserve such rude service. Finally i order something she couldnt be out of. I then opened the soy sauce and found dead fruit flies. We brought it to her attention, she grabbed another one gave it to us, no apologies, just slammed it on the table. I asked for a cup for my daughter to drink her tea, she never received it. At this point i just want to leave, but we are so hungry we buckle down and go thru her humiliation. Now I spent a year in Korea, I know how to speak Korean phrases. I said hello to her in Korean, I ordered in Han-gul, usually when a American knows a little of their language they like that. She hardened visibily and ignored us for the entire night. In all fairness the food was great, its tough because I have lived in Korea, I understand their mentality, I know how they treat customers in their restaurants, I was wondering what I did, my wife said we just got her on a bad night. So as were leaving, she finally shows up and asks how everything was, this was the first time since taking the order. Now shes attentive. We did what everyone does when they have bad service, we left her with a 1 cent tip, and this review.

Very clean restaurant with warm setting. Excellent selection of sushi & sashimi. The food artists are skilled at what they do. You are always greeted with a pleasant, but sincere smile. The wait time for selection is not long but enough to make you appreciate the finished product which is always created in front of you. Nothing is frozen or seasoned in a way to alter flavors. The sushi rolls are not too thick with rice and skimping on the actual sushi. Instead, the layer of rice is minimal unlike what you find at a supermarket. The actual main filling is packed with what you order. This is how you know you are getting what you pay for. It is a pleasant change. The temperature of the setting is not too cool nor very warm. Somehow it is just right and the fish nearby seem to have fun. If you are looking for great sushi and have been disappointed by other locations, give this one a try. You wont be disappointed. And bring others with you. The people as well as other guests are usually quite friendly. You will not feel rushed it as if you are just another number with $$ to throw away. This is quality food where pride is seen in preparation and even in the live display of selections on ice. Well done.

I would rather go to sushi revolution or gari of sushi. I ordered a crunch roll described as: tuna, cucumber, avocado, crunch outside. What this description doesnt mention is the outside crunch has cinnamon, brown sugar and puffed rice. When I asked about the odd coating, the server argued with me, saying I was probably just tasting the sweetened sushi rice or the sauce.. I didnt want to pay for this horrible roll, but was offered no alternative. I would suggest looking around for a different sushi experience. Although I felt patronized in this exchange, the server remained pleasant.

The atmosphere provided a pleasant experience and the food was absolutely excellent. However, the service was questionable to say it politely. Overall the service of most of the employees was fine, but our immediate hostess was not accustomed to providing good customer service. When she seated us she dropped our menus on the table ahead of us and walked away. Then she tried to rush us to make our orders because she wanted to go home. Overall, though, not a bad restaurant.

The food was great but service is terrible. Sitting there for 15 mins before was asked to order. Took another 45 to get my food. Closed my tab before eating, still took them 30 mins before they ran my card after i told them that i am ready to pay and leave as i was just on my lunch break. I had to literally stand up and asked for them to ran it. Never got asked if i wanted to drink. Oh did i mention that i got there when it was completely dead.

The service was terrible. The waitresses made me and my friend feel uncomfortable. They did not greet us or even speak to us. Waitress also did not get my order correct. We were "forgotten" when we were one group of only three total groups. Wouldnt go back based on service alone. Food would have been better if they used less sesames on the sushi and actually gave me what i ordered....

Good atmosphere, good sushi, average value and good service make this a good sushi place. Not the best, just good, but still above average. This is the kinda neighborhood sushi place that you could dine at every day and always get good food and good service. With all the bases covered this is one of the top 5 sushi places in Tacoma.

My husband took the kids and me out to eat sushi here for mothers day dinner and this is our new favorite sushi place. The customer service was fast and friendly. We had sushi and my husband had the beef seasoned in special sauce. The food was great, just wish the Alaskan express had more spice to it. We will definitely be back!

Went out with my husband to Kyoto for the first time, and loved it! The sushi was very good quality, and the flavor combinations in some of their unique rolls (like my new favorite the Alaska express) were incredible. The service was friendly, the decor lovely, and the atmosphere very inviting. We will be back soon!

Clean, authentic, excellent food. Sushi was good. Tried the Bulgogi. Very good beef with a hint of ginger. Also, the Macado Bento combo was good. A variety of dishes on one plate with sushi, beef teriyaki, breaded chicken and some tempura shrimp. Hopefully try one of the special rooms next time.

Hands down my favorite sushi restaurant. The food, the atmosphere, the service are all quite impressive. I found the menu to be affordable and full of variety. I ordered a decorative sushi combo plate for two, served on a scenic bridge garden plate. An absolute work of art. Cant wait to go back.
