My boyfriend and I made it a point to drive here specifically to eat a romantic dinner so we could watch the sunset. The server, John was SO friendly with a great sense of humor! He even stood there for a few minutes talking about the boats with us. Great guy! The food however was gross! We ordered Oysters Rockefeller and hushpuppies for the appetizer. I asked our server if the oysters were frozen and he thought they were but went to the back to double check for us. I didnt particularly want frozen food but figured they couldnt be THAT bad. They came out hot and looked great. Very nice presentation. But biting into them there was hardly any oyster and the miniscule piece that was there was like rubber with no flavor. I dont understand why you can get raw oysters on the half shell but they cant make fresh oysters Rockefeller instead of serving their customers that crap! The hushpuppies were absolutely stone cold, greasy and hard as a rock! We also ordered the seafood platter with two sides to share. It had 1 piece of fish, 5 TINY scallops, a crab cake and 5 shrimp. We selected French fries and cole slaw for sides. We chose to get it baked instead of fried. Everything was barely luke warm and the fries were so horrible!! The fish was absolutely, unequivocally DISGUSTING! Frozen then right into a broiler! It was soggy and bland! The shrimp were like rubber and over cooked. It was obvious the scallops were quarter pieces of what once was a large scallop. They were chewy because...GUESS WHAT? They were also frozen! The crab cake was eatible but cold and bland. The cole slaw was okay but nothing to write home about. How can you be sitting on a gold mine like this place is..right on the Chesapeake Bay, not to mention the Eastern Shore is literally right down the street thats known for their oysters and serve the frozen crap they serve!? Stupidest business decision EVER! And the "Cooks" (theyre NOT chefs!) need to be fired IMMEDIATELY! Not to mention they get the salt water taffy in the gift shop from New Jersey when Forbes Candy is right in Virginia Beach!? Makes no sense! Devine intervention and Robert Irvine couldnt even help this place! Two stars because the service was great and the restaurant was clean. The bathrooms were just dirty and smelled like piss.

Make sure youre ready to pay for what you order even if theres a mix up in the kitchen that for some reason the waitress wont be aware of. Theyll box it all up for you and expect you take things like raw oysters with you to go and blame it on it being the owners policy. The owner of this place has a skewed view of how to run a restaurant. It does not say anywhere on the menu, "You will pay for what you order even if we fail to bring it out in a timely manner." Our appetizers came out after our main meal (which took almost 45 minutes), they didnt even bring out all of our main meals, they didnt bring out an order of fries but dont worry they packed those up, and my food was not warm. The waitress said there was a mix up in the kitchen but apparently thats our fault. Woodrow is a smug man so just be wary because hell scoff at you when you have an issue and literally say, "Well, you ordered it." The first time we came it was great, but this time we were treated like dirt, not paying customers. Virginia is filled with friendly people except for this place. Just bring a snack in your car and go enjoy the view on the pier.

They have upgraded this location, last time I was thru in 09 it was an unpleasant gift shop that had some food I think. Now, whoever is responsible for the restaurant has taken the job seriously. The entire building seems like its been renovated, there is a neat gift shop on one side and a pleasant restaurant on the other with seating overlooking the Chesapeake. We had she crab soup and split a take on a cordon bleu sandwich, it was a nice potato bun with grilled chicken, a thick piece of ham and asiago cheese with mixed vegetables on the side. These items were well made, delicious and overall not what I remembered and expected as this is a rest stop afterall and usually rest stops are mediocre chain food at best. The soup was great with lump crab on top and the sandwich was tatsty. Not to mention the staff, who were extremely nice and courteous. Now thats one rest stop down, a couple hundred more to go to make better.

What do you all expect? It is not a 5 Star 4 Course Restaurant. Its a tourist attraction and a place to chill to get out of your vehicle stretch your muscles. I wouldnt expect anything other than low average customer service. Yall need to get a grip. Culture Shock for you all welcome to the south!!! Things arent ever the same everywhere you go. If you are shocked about the service and rudeness here, then bruthas and sistas you need to experience a Shoneys Restaurant. They still believe in seating whites up front, all other races in the back room. Racism still exists and also homophobia. This country is ready for a Religious Civil War and there are going to be a large excessive toll on peoples lives. Wake up and honestly find GOD! There is only one and its not up to you to JUDGE anyone but yourselves. Bye Felicia!

My family stopped in here the first week of April and had excellent crab cake, seafood pasta, & hushpuppies for an appetizer, all recommended by our server Dara. We got there right at closing, which we didnt know because all the websites say this place closes at 10 p.m. She said she didnt mind at all, and we could tell it was a bit hectic, so we tried to decline, but she insisted. The food was excellent! We were here a week earlier on our way to our vacation, but our server was new & didnt know the menu & seemed preoccupied with her phone. We never expected food to be this great, nor the better service from Darra. She sold us on dessert & the fantastic local wine. We will be back!

7/29/17. We waited over an hour for our order. Tables who were seated 30 mins after us finished eating and got their checks before we got our food . The waiter was the laziest most unmotivated individual Ive ever seen. He said it was a kitchen problem and we asked to see the manager, and he did not produce the manager so we had to seek him out. George admitted that they had lost our order. When they finally brought it out, there were no condiments that were listed on the menu such as tartar sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. Just dry buns! And we had to flag down another waiter and ASK for silverware. We will never stop at this place again!

We stopped for dinner on our way back from Chincoteague. What an awesome experience! The staff was very friendly and super nice. The food was amazing! The portions are big enough to feed anybody. Youll definitely be full when you leave. I tried the Seafood Sampler and loved it. Some of the freshest and best tasting seafood Ive ever had. The best part was being able to look out the huge windows and watch the sunset from our dinner table. It was the best birthday dinner experience Ive ever had!! The place doesnt look like much from the outside, but dont go by looks!!!!!!! My family of 4 loved it!!! I would love to go back again!!!
