Today I went there for the first time, to experience a really bad time. The waitress was kind, but everything else fell off. I ordered fries for my daughter which were lacking flavor, but shes 2, so she could care less. For myself, baked ziti which I piled on parmesan cheese and garlic powder to bring out the lack in flavor. It was mediocre at best, but what got me were the gnats that constantly plagued our table. I barely got 5 bites of food before 2 of indoor swarm of insects dove into my food not to be seen. I had enough at that point, and asked for a box to at least save my daughters food from getting contaminated, and the check. When the check came, I asked our waitress if there was anything the manager may be able to do as my meal was ruined. A few minutes later, another woman I assumed to be another waitress says "I took 10% off the item before I swiped the card. Its on the itemized receipt at the register. Thank you for coming." and walked off. My waitress came back and asked if we were taken care of, and I said not really. I got the same deal someone with a Valpak coupon could have gotten without the food. I just left at that point, saw the sticker on the door to review their restaurant, and decided to put my experience as its fresh in my mind. There is no exaggeration because of my frustration, just utter disappointment. I was sure to write a note on my signed receipt also about the poor first experience. Hope you all out there dont have a similar experience, I wouldnt wish it on my enemy.

Had some friends visit from out of town who wanted great Richmond Italian food. After getting up and leaving after 10 minutes from Carinis due to poor service and poor food selection...we came here less than a mile away. It was night and day. We were greeted and seated by a friendly host/waitress right away who was VERY knowledgeable. When we asked for custom dishes that most REAL italian restaurants can offer...it was no problem compared to our experience at Carinis. The food was excellent and service was great! Roberto personally came out to check on our table to ensure we were satisfied. In fact one of the dishes ordered (Custom) by one on my out of town guests gave him inspiration to add it to the menu for other patrons. Everyone at the table are VERY particular about their food and Robertos really exceeded our expectations. This is a hidden/not readily visited GEM that if you are in RVA you MUST visit and try their amazing food!!

My wife and I have been going to Robertos since they first opened and have never been dissatisfied. The food is fresh, hot and delicious. The ingredients on the pizza are so fresh there is still a crispness to them that everyone in our family enjoys, the crust is baked perfectly and has a nice crispy crunch and the sizes are priced right. Weve had a few appetizers and recommend the zucchini sticks or fried mushrooms. Their pasta dishes are spot on, my favorite is the spaghetti ala Roberto. Cant remember what my wife gets but its a chicken a vegetable dish in a cream sauce, she loves it. The staff is friendly and were always welcomed in, quite often Roberto will greet you himself and is happy to suggest a wine to go with your entree. Also never have had to wait but the popularity of this restaurant is growing so that might change during peak hours.

Rarely do I ever leave remarks. However I felt compelled to leave one. I have been here several times. This place is awesome. It is hands down the best Italian restaurant in the east end. The portions are GIGANTIC. That is such a rarity especially for the price range. The tour of Italy is not your Olive Garden plate. My first trip there, I had food left over for 2 days. I also ordered the lasagna, and it was amazing. The service is absolutely top notch. The waitresses are always nice and will check up on you frequently. The owner is always visible and extremely friendly. He cares about the customers and will go above and beyond to make sure were taken care of. The restaurant is extremely clean. Dont judge this place by its surroundings. It is a GEM!! Quit reading this and go there NOW!!

My boyfriend and I love Robertos we go A LOT because their pizza put other pizza establishments pizza to shame. Weve never had a problem with the service or the food as the staff is very friendly and the service is quick and food always fresh. However, last night I was a little disappointed that my boyfriend and I had to sit and wait about 45 minutes for 1 large pizza. Granted, we were unaware that they run a special on Tuesday but the kitchen seemed understaffed for a "special night". The cashier kept saying 2 more minutes but that kept turning into 15. As usual the food was great. Just kind of disappointed that the wait time wasnt acknowledged (no apology at all) & we werent thanked for our patience. I suppose well call next time.

We are from MN and just found this place that was close to our hotel. I will be honest, when we first arrived and saw people bringing out take out containers, I wondered if the food wasnt that good that people couldnt finish it.....Let me say that this is the first place we have ate at since arriving and Im sure that we will be highly disappointed if we eat any where else. The food was amazing!! The place was clean and the staff was top notch! We even got to meet Roberto himself!! I cannot say enough about this place...other then we HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!

For me to take the time to write a review about a place, it must be GREAT!!!! You get unbelievably huge portions super cheap here! The staff are super nice and the food is amazing. Im not from the area, I flew into Richmond two weeks in a row and specifically came to Robertos each time. I got the tortellini with alfredo sauce and the baked lasagna. Not one single bad thing to say about this place. Youll leave here stuffed with great food and plenty left in your wallet! :) I wish there was a Robertos near me!!!

Very nice place, Decor is nice but way over lit. Just dimming the lights will help a great deal with creating a warmer feel. Staff was very attentive, food was very good, Charging $2 extra for a salad was a bit of a turn off but not enough to keep me from coming back. Highly recommend this place for well priced good food. Cant wait to try their pizza. Cannot find good authentic pizza in Richmond. Just need to include salad. great place

Sat for five minutes without a peep... i was going to walk out when the waitress came. Even with the newest waitress in the restauraunt... All questions answered Food expedited asap Beyond fresh!!! Four waitstaff and the owner to the table twice Hole in the wall is a gross understatement this is a honey hole!!!! Never leave hungry If you want italian and dont try this gem its a grave injustice to your appetite!
