I am literally sitting in the restaurant, Ive just taken my first bite of "French Toast w/ eggs and bacon When in my peripheral view to the left of me.... I see a "HUGE WATER BUG" coming in my direction seriously..... Thinking to myself "WoooW ok, this is new.... I have never had this happen before" So I tell my husband Never Ever Again will I come back here It may be a harmless insect but it mentally siked me out This huge thing... Strolled right on over to the table beside us. It went underneath it..... There was an older couple sitting there Ugghhh... SmH... I felt so bad for them The gentleman tried to stomp it That is after we all hopped up out of our seats... He missed it several times... A male staff member finally stomped on it There was a loud crunch sound that escaped from underneath the table... (Rolling of the eyes) what a commotion I am at this point embarrassed for the staff here and the owner WtW River City Diner..... yuck I guess the po water bug wanted his cousin Vinny back LMBO Any who..... NEVER AGAIN...... If I knew how to give them a -5 minus stars I wouldve I went back to my seat and by golly seriously I tried to continue eating but... I couldnt I feel so sick on my stomach and the foods was not all that good.... So I came... I saw.... Uummmm No thank you.... So folks save your money and time Its not worth it Unless youre ok eating with Peter, Vinny, Sara and Trisha the water bugs BTW... Lets say the 1* star is for the staff They were friendly and humorous about the whole ordeal So.... 1 gold star for the staff We actually ended up leaving neither of us could finish

We often go to River City Diner for Sunday morning breakfast; probably eat breakfast there once or twice each month. While we can not attest to fare other than breakfast, we can say that the breakfast items we order are consistently tasty and served with a smile. The items we typically order include things like omelets, breakfast quesadillas, pancakes, eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, english muffins, grits, orange juice and coffee. 90% of the time, the portions are huge and we end up taking leftovers back home. Occasionally, a different cook might be in the kitchen and portions are not so huge and we have no leftovers... regardless of the cook, the food arrives hot, well cooked and tasty. There are occasions when the hotel next door has a large group staying there and we end up seeing them at the diner. Seems like the hotel might not communicate well with the diner staff, and there are not enough servers to handle big rushes like that. Even so, the wait is rarely more than 15 minutes from order to tableing. The interior of the diner is... 1950s diner like. It is not a fancy or new place, but it does have a unique atmosphere. It is not an inexpensive establishment (in terms of places like Dennys or Aunt Sarahs), but we find the food to be a step up and worth the price.

We went on a wednesday evening for Kids Eat Free Night. Worth the trip for the discount. Despite it being very slow, the food and service were both slow and our server, although inattentive, was very nice. The chicken quesadilla was delicious as was the hotdog which had a nice variety of toppings. The steak was overdone (was requested mid-well...this was shoe leather) and the coleslaw tasted as though it had been in a refridgerator for quite some time. The mac and cheese was a a gritty, artificial combination of cafeteria food and tv dinner. A Garlicky Disaster. Overall, this actually was not a bad experience, and some of our menu items were quite good. The atmosphere was not too loud and seemed appropriate for families with small children. However, our experience, from food, to service was just inconsistent and when averaged, was mediocre at best.

Excellent breakfast! I had the French toast, scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, and home fries. There were about 3 different types of French toast, including one made with raisin bread. The eggs could be scrambled with one of about 4 different cheeses, including Swiss or pepper-jack. The home fries were tasty, fried with sweet onions. These are not crispy home fries though. They were the soft kind. Im not sure if they will make them crispy to order or not, as it was not offered as an option. They also had several other enticing looking menu items. If you stay at the attached hotel, you can get a breakfast voucher to eat from a limited breakfast specials menu. The breakfast specials are smaller portioned but still full of flavor. The voucher does not account for tips though so you may want to bring a few dollars to tip with.

Went for dinner. Upon sitting down, killed a fat fly in window. Ordered cheese sticks - were overcooked. Spotted another half-dead fly on the windowsill, killed it. Got my crabcake sandwich, pretty tasteless. Coleslaw tasted weird, like it was old. Server forgot to bring my potato salad (didnt bother pointing it out as I was pretty much struggling with my food anyways). Only ate a few bites. Then yet another fly landed on top of my head, and I was pretty much done. Requested my check from the server (who was sitting in a customer booth gabbing away with the cook I think). Will never return. PRO: the music was cool

I preface this with the note that I eat here regularly and enjoy it but the speed of service is very dependent on whos working during your visit. Im generally happy with what I order (which runs between greasy spoon diner food and lighter omelettes) and dont usually turn down an invite to go but dont expect that youre coming here for 5 star food or for extremely fast counter service. Neither paints an accurate picture of the experience, which is more along the lines of a stopover where you sit and rest and recharge while eating in a colorful atmosphere. If youre in a rush , I recommend you go somewhere else.

I stopped in this place on a whim one day passing by and its become a regular place for me whenever Im in the area. Its a classic American diner with chrome and old movie posters on the wall, great fare, and friendly fast service. Ive walked in here many times with only 20 minutes to spare and still had plenty of time to eat and everything. Servers are very friendly and the kitchen is very fast. I usually just get eggs, bacon, and coffee but the specials I have had have all been great reliable american food. If youre in the area looking for a quick bite, stop in and relax.

Great service and great food for a fabulous price. Michael was our server. When I asked about the Mississippi catfish he highly recommended it and gave suggestions on how the folks preparing it did it best. He was right. Growing up on the Mississippi River Ive eaten my fair share of catfish. I havent had it in a while and I wasnt disappointed! Michael even went above and beyond to find an outlet to charge my 14 y/o phone. He instantly became her hero. Even the gentleman seating us was extremely pleasant. We had a great experience!

It took 15 minutes to be seated for 2. With a total of 6 Customers in the entire restaurant. The food was good. It took the waitress About 10 minutes to get me a cup of water. Did not refill my cup till we were about to leave. Talking extremely loud in the center station with the other waitresses ignoring their tables. My food was partially cold because they left my food in the window for a while before another waitress brought it to me complaining about my actual waitress slacking. Not a good look for first impressions.
